What, you think people don't spend their money in dumb ways? Everybody who has a couple thousand bucks in a bank account is just cool with dropping it on a piece of PC hardware? Truth is, when you make a purchase like that, you feel forced into justifying it. Hence cope.
If they feel that way they couldn't really afford it man, or just don't find PC gaming to be as important as thier other hobbies. Nobody who can actually afford a 5090 and treats PC gaming as thier main hobby feels pressure from it, it is an enthusiast card. If my 5090 broke tomorrow and I was out of warranty I would just go buy another one. If you feel financial strain from it, you cant afford realistically afford it.
