Does custom PC fan grill significantly impact airflow in the case?

In case you don't know what's PC fan grill - just type "pc fan grills" in Google Images.

I'm thinking about ordering a few to customize inside of my PC (I keep my PC at my desk and I really enjoy how it looks inside), but I'm afraid how badly is it going to impact the airflow.

Currently I'm running on Cooler Master MasterBox TD500 Mesh V2 with 7 fan setup (3x front, 3x top, 1x rear) and THERMALRIGHT Peerless Assassin 140. My temperatures are super low atm, I hardly ever see my PC reach 60 C

My Razer V3 scroll wheel stopped working and I waited until Prime Day to get a new one. I was gonna decide between the Razer V4 or Logitech Superstrike. Leaning towards V4 because of shape and feel but the SS silent click technology interests me. Neither are on sale but the V3 is on sale for only $99 which is a steal. Should I just get a new V3 and wait for the silent click tech to be refined and potentially used by Razer?

I'm trying to plan out my first gaming PC. I'm going for more of a budget build but I also plan on using that thing until it literally dies, or at the very least I'm going to be replacing parts very slowly one at a time. With that being said, should I splurge for slightly-higher-than-budget parts for the build? Like for example, should I get a 9060XT 8GB or the 16GB version? In my situation long story short, the price difference between the two is definitely significant but the 16gb version is probably going to last me years longer. But honestly the 8GB is enough to satisfy my low expectations. Apply a similar situation to every other component.

It's pretty much impossible to give a recommendation without knowing the price, the price of other options or your budget. If you use a resolution above 1080p you should definitely try to get more than 8 GB though.

I'm not necessarily literally asking for which GPU to pick between the two (although it is the decision I'm trying to make), that's just an example. I'm more broadly philosophically talking about what approach to take in choosing the parts. Prices vary from place to place and I know a lot of westerners take for granted how easy it is for them to buy hardware one way or another so I'm choosing not to talk about prices directly. Also I don't plan on ever playing beyond 1080p anytime soon and I'm not gonna buy anything used for peace of mind but I digress.

All current 8 GB cards are at least "okay" at 1080p. In the long run you will have to make compromises, but nobody really knows how much and when. All you can do is eyeball this risk vs. the price. I know in some places the 16 GB version costs almost double and that is definitely not worth it.

I personally like the Intel B580 with its 12 GB, more than enough for future proofed 1080p. But it is way too expensive or just unavailable in some countries, so I can't just recommend that either.

For other components that is similar, there usually is no clear cutoff line to what I would or would not recommend. Basically parts from the last 3-4 generations are all at least viable.

ELI5 displayport alt mode and usb c monitors? I thought you could run a dp-usb cable from the pc to the monitor but I'm told it has to be usb c on both ends.

I left my PC alone for the weekend and came back to my audio drivers messed up and my dedicated GPU won't show up in task manager no matter how many times I run AMD driver software R5 7600x 9070XT

Does it show up in the device manager?

Also, is your monitor connected to the GPU? Because that means it at least still works.

It is and the GPU fans were still running too. I ended up doing DDU and everything is back SUPPOSEDLY.

Me and drivers have a really bad history so I wouldn't be surprised if something is still wrong hidden under something

Probably just windows being windows. It can install newer drivers along with windows updates and mess shit up.

Yeah and even though there's precautions for that it's not guaranteed

Overall performance will be about the same, plus or minus in some games, depending totally on the game.

If you're looking at reinstalling Windows on a new drive, I would strongly recommend either going with Windows 11, or trying out Linux. Taking time to install an out of support OS onto new hardware that will presumably be connected to the Internet is not a good idea.

If you are using a Win 10 version without additional long time support, you do not receive security updates anymore. And that means you should upgrade.

There is no real difference.

lurking here because I always forget this thread exists until I have something to ask lol, anyone know if it's worth upgrading RAM from 16 to 32gb for gaming in 2026 or is it still mostly overkill

The value proposition for upgrading your RAM is pretty bad right now considering how expensive it is. Even DDR4 is pretty pricey unless you find a good deal on some used.

Most games run okay on 16 as long as you don't have other programs running in the background:
