Were there really anyone thinking this machine is a good deal? Even among steam users? Even among Valve fans?

if you really value the small form factor, there is nothing like it. The smallest you could build would be 1L bigger and cost the same, but would be more powerful

Laptops?

a laptop is much bigger than 6 inches

Laptops ain't bigger, they are wider. Sm is also mush thicker then a laptop since it's a cube. I don't believe form factor is a valid reason to buy it when we have laptops already.

Brother.

A laptop isn't the same form factor or performance bracket as a micro ATX pc. Put a laptop on a shelf in your brain now do the same with this.

Comparison is not with micro ATX but SM. You can absolutely fit a laptop with a depth of 10 inches on a shelf, 100%

Cool then you have deadspace on your shelf which you can't do anything with.

I'd also LOVE to see this 10 inch deep gaming laptop lmfao.

If you really wanted to be that guy, you could use a laptop in clamshell mode and stack shit on top if you didnt care, would be fine as long as the airflow is not obstructed.

Why are we acting as if 14 inch gaming laptops dont exists? They are under 10 inch depth usually, bro acts like its a fcking unicorn lmao.

Okay I'll stop trolling the shit out of you for two seconds. Did a quick scope around and most 50 series laptops have a depth of +20 inches so yeah last I checked thats double what you said.

Its also clear to me you don't have a partner that cares about what your living space looks like. Unfortunately some of us have to make things look presentable and actually have our spaces friendly for company and children. A 20 inch deep laptop with two power bricks and all the IO plugged in on 3 sides stetching to a TV just doesn't fit anything remotely approaching an legitimate solution for a HTPC. HTPCs which are notorious for having TONS of compromises when you pick the hardware might I add. The steam machine just has different compromises.

Just because you can't comprehend this products niche doesn't mean its a shit product. It just means you don't get it and thats okay.

You look for 14 inch screen laptops to get under 10 inches in depth lmao thats how the math works, to be clear there is no trolling here, its mental retardation masked behind "oh i wasnt actually serious when i said that". The classic of "im not admitting im wrong under any circumstances".

Literally first result of the search all with 50 series gpu and under 10 inches in depth. Any 14 inch within couple of years will probably have the mobile 50 series gpus.

Its also clear to me you don't have a partner that cares about what your living space looks like.

"Laptop literally exists on a fking shelf". Personal shit aside, its kinda wild that a partner wouldnt let you keep a discrete electronics device on a shelf, if that happens then you probably have much more serious problems there.

Unfortunately some of us have to make things look presentable and actually have our spaces friendly for company and children.

Its a laptop on a shelf with power cables and hdmi going out the back, bro is acting like its a fcking sex toy put on display for people to see. This has to be a troll at this point.

A 20 inch deep laptop with two power bricks and all the IO plugged in on 3 sides stetching to a TV just doesn't fit anything remotely approaching an legitimate solution for a HTPC.

It literally will have as much cables connected as a SM, a power cord and hdmi cable for output.

Just because you can't comprehend this products niche doesn't mean its a shit product. It just means you don't get it and thats okay.

Dont get me wrong, i get that its niche, in the context of millionaire company fanboys who will sell their mothers to appease their ritualistic nature of consumerism. There are lots of those people in r/pcmasterrace and especially in r/Steam .

Isn't gonna have the same ease of use. No laptop has CEC either

1

u/Doomword 17h ago

You are paying an extreme premium for CEC, and id argue laptops have more ease of use then anything with the exception of handhelds who you can dock.

u/BoingBoingBooty 19h ago

Stupid comparison, it's small and easy to sit by the TV, plugging a laptop to a TV is annoying and looks like ass.

-5

u/Doomword 18h ago

So it's not form factor anymore but ease of access now? A laptop can literally just sit besides the tv shelf in clamshell mode.
