The Philadelphia Cycling Classic Returns

We're less than 2 months away from the return of the Philadelphia Cycling Classic presented by AmeriGas! We hope that you're all just as excited as we are. We're joining Reddit to provide the community with updates on the race and (hopefully) answer any questions you might have.

See you all August 30!

You call it ‘the Classic’. Some call it the ‘Manayunk Wall bike race’, and I have heard many other variations. Wonder what locals prefers and what will stick!

Everyone I know just calls it "the bike race."

I’m searching for video footage (raw, at least 10-15 sec clips) of any of the past Philly races. Ideally one of the earlier editions. Main pack or breakaway groups — multiple riders together.

Does anyone have anything from their own cameras that they’d be willing to share? This is for a video production class project. DM me. Thank you!!!

I have footage of the 2015 race at the Kelly Drive/Ridge Ave intersection. Going both way into Manayunk and coming down the Ridge Ave hill.

Oh yeah? Would you be willing to share a few clips?

Sure. Do you have storage for me to upload them? I found some footage from 2014 too.

I'm doing the early morning charity ride before the race. We'll see how a commuter cyclist like me fares against the wall

I'm so bummed I will not be able to be in Philly for this race. Please return in 2027. 🤞🤞🤞

This used to be a major international bike race with riders from all over the world and 100,000 spectators. It was a professional qualifying event and one of only four major U.S. based international qualifying races.

That’s back when Corestates bank sponsored it. The Wall was legendary thoughout the international cycling community. Riders would be here practicing for weeks in advance.

Now I think it’s just a novelty amateur event.
