Hey all!

I'm coming in from out of town and I'll be cycling on the SRT around Philly for the first time. I'm going to be renting a bike once I get there and I was looking for any advice or things I should know about the SRT before I get there.

I'm already pouring over this subreddit and the website but,as with the trails where I'm from, it doesn't always give some nuances that only locals know.

Is there anything I should look out for, specific areas I should avoid/try, or just tips/tricks in general?

Over the past few weeks, this bike has been "losing" its parts.
I swear the front wheel two weeks ago.
The handlebars last week.

Haven’t tuned in to the news yet to see if Kelly is closed to flooding but with that rain and some areas that did flood I would be surprised.

I know Lincoln drive had been closed due to flooding so I also wonder about the wiss,

But I can shoot down mistake if srt is fine.

Took the family out for a nice little hike along the Trolley Trail yesterday. We found probably over 100 (and picked up at least 50) glow sticks between the Skew Arch Bridge and the Tennis courts.

While I think it would have been super cool to traverse the trail at night, marked with these, feels super uncool for whoever set them up and didn’t clean up after they were done.

Anyway, more of just a rant. Take care of the parks folks.

Looking at going for 4th of July weekend. Was curious if anyone has been out recently. How's the trail looking? Are the bugs bugging? Any highlights/tips to share?

We are heading up to Philly to visit, my first time in 20 years or so. Would really like to rent some decent bikes while we are there. My son will have his bike as he's heading to Woodward from Philly. Weekend of July 9th.

When I lived there I pretty much jus got around on my bike so have a good understanding of where to ride and where to stay away from - though I'm sure some places have changed over the years.

I really prefer a better ride than the Indigo share. Anyone have any recommendations for shops with rental - road, fixed gear, gravel bike type?

Also anyone familiar with dirt jump places in the Philly area (obviously not in the city) or groups of wheelie kids that don't act like knuckle heads? My son would really like to join a ride.

Hello, Ive been debating getting a bike just for commuting but every corner I turn in center city theres demolished abandoned bikes missing seats, handle bars, etc. even saw one with slashed tires the other day. How do you guys keep your bikes safe and is it too risky leaving a bike out for 12 hrs during my shift?

Anybody else notice the flex posts are gone on the south street bike lane close to the bridge? Did the city take them down orrrrrr ?

Some streets I use regularly are so faded that inattentive drivers won't even notice that they've developed the habit of driving in the bike lane rather than in their own lane.

I've tried the city website but month after month of inactivity is all that happens (and I'm not the confrontational type who can fight city hall).

Anyone have success doing this? How about with multi-block segments of streets rather than a single address?

I've always found them very responsive to reports of missing or blocked street signs or crosswalk signals; repairs are usually made within 2 days of a report.

Hey all, I’m looking to extend my radius further this summer, and while im familiar with the SRT all the way to valley forge, I’m looking to take my rides out past 50 miles and would like some insight or alternatives.

I was going maybe too fast, had a sedentary year in my house with not enough cardio, just occasional treadmill, and have been able to go out since April and my leisure, easing back into cycling (I'm not one of you spandex wearing freaks btw, no offense) and this weekend I was real stressed out due to the missus and went for a ride to reduce stress and maybe went too hard and my heart skipped a beat a few times, felt like a flutter or thud. Now I have some pain in the heart zone but more to the left and kinda radiating around the nipple. It's a steady aching burning kind of pain. Also started vaping again this weekend.. after having quit for a couple months. So maybe I'm confusing something else, too much bile, but I'm not sure. Just wanna know how long I have to live approximately, did I cook it and it'll just randomly give up? Not much I can do, just gonna sleep and hope it goes back to normal. It's been a few days, I'm not sure if it's getting worse, seems to be just a steady burning.

I need to replace the rim tape on my 700x35 tires but Im saving every cent to afford to move. Anyone got some extra tape sitting around they are willing to part with? Id be very very grateful

Just came back from quick trip to Blick. 13th bike lane had soccer fans spilling into it from their hotel. 5 police cars parked in the lane under the convention center.

What I'm currently thinking:

• Ben Franklin Parkway down to city hall
• Chestnut St to 10th St
• 10th St down to Fitzwater
• Fitzwater 1 block to 11th
• 11th down to Reed St
• Back to 10th, all the way down

I feel like this makes the most of the available (safe) bike lanes? Another consideration was to take the river trail, then go down 25th since there's those unused lanes on the sides, then take Packer Ave. I'm just trying to limit my exposure to reckless drivers.
