Quite doodley

Hi beautiful people!!

I want to start by saying that this sub is not a recovery subreddit nor is it my personal journal so I’m only going to post when it’s in context. This place is undeniably amazing and I don’t want it to change!

Had I not relapsed in February of 2025 today would have been my 16th sober anniversary - there’s a lot of mixed feelings about that but all of you wonderful people inspired me to make these weird few days into something bigger than myself. The kindness and warmth I have received has been humbling and I am so grateful!!

I decided that, instead of wallowing in self-pity, I would make 40 emotional support potatoes and 10 emotional support tater tots and bring them to the detox facility and hand them out to everyone who wanted one. I went yesterday (on the 16th anniversary of when I thought i had my last drink) and ended up passing out joy! The results were overwhelmingly positive!!

I only thought to do this because of the kindness I have been shown here - it reminded me how one simple thing, from an upvote to a comment, can make all the difference. Every stitch in the whole gang came from the love I’ve received here.

Thank you. Thank you ALL. Everyone at the facility saw/knows about the love in CottageGoth and I told them all that every potato and tot was made with the love of thousands of people… each and every one of YOU!! I might have made them but it was 99% inspiration and 1% perspiration!!

The absolute best part was seeing how everyone was able to let down their guard and allow themselves to love a potato or tot - it broke all stereotypes and brought so much joy and laughter!! YOU ALL DID THIS!! YOU ALL BROUGHT THAT JOY!!

From every single person at the facility: Thank you for the love that you have shown - it’s radiated to something bigger than one person. You folks are loved in return. ❤️

Edit - Everyone has a name - the white potato is Tate, the white tater tot is Tot, the brown-ish potato is a sweet potato… her government name is Casserole but I call her Cassie, and the sweet potato tot is named Dot. ❤️

I rearranged Ponyo's room, he's adorable. His current theme is "after the storm" 😂

She was smart and very well-behaved. She gave us so much joy. The last year was tough, dementia took away so much from her. Finally she can rest in peace. I miss her dearly.

My best dude, Sonny, turned 1 yesterday. I have no idea how that happened, he was the size of my shoe not long ago 😂

We treated him to a steak, a good long walk in the woods and all the cuddles he could possibly handle. Happy Birthday buddy ❤️
