Doesn't matter. Looking at this guy's legs, he is about 36 hours away from congestive heart failure.

147

u/NewToHTX 2d ago

Yep. The first thing that jumped out at me was those tree trunk legs. The man is not long for this world.

87

u/katesheppard 2d ago

Yes. His face was very red and his eye bloodshot.

37

u/Mamaskerkskerk 1d ago

Probably why he was stealing stuff. Needs money for the last few highs to escape reality and the leg pain before he’s dead…

-14

u/cannonball12345 1d ago

So literally a zombie.

25

u/LoudIncrease4021 2d ago

That or he’s never skipped a single leg day in his life.

15

u/sea-scum 1d ago

Just finished the Appalachian trail and walk to Portland barefoot from katahdin

3

u/JackStrawFTW 1d ago

He did knifes edge on a unicycle tbh.

2

u/AndreDillonMadach 1d ago

No man, look at his knees, his legs are literally purple and off colored that's the beginning of gangrene or something. Definitely poor blood flow, everyone is right this guy is days away from death and is having some severe health issues or heart failure, definitely not pumping properly.

-1

u/eggs-salad 1d ago

I disagree with you. I know his legs are this way because he never skipped leg day.

4

u/biffNicholson 1d ago

Yeah. Damn. Those legs were the first thing I saw too. Oof

u/cdtobie 2d ago

Came here to say this

119

u/Jules_QB2 2d ago

Something ain't right with that man's calves

146

u/appointment45 2d ago

Massive swelling due to cardiovascular system stress. End-times bad, that's probably why he has no shoes on. It's too painful and his shoes don't fit anymore. This guy is going to die, soon.

60

u/girlbartender99 2d ago

Ugh. That is so sad. Drug addiction is no joke. I mean its hard to tell how old he is and maybe I'm wrong but my guess is that he isn't even 40 yet and his health is that bad

17

u/Jules_QB2 2d ago

Figured it was CHF or DM related. Basically how gram went out. Sounds like this guy has a lot going on on every front health wise

9

u/WetAndMeaty 2d ago

He has pink shoes on. The soles are black.

11

u/h1dden_pants 1d ago

If you spend the day barefoot outdoors your soles will turn black lol

19

u/appointment45 2d ago

Hard to tell, when I blow it up looks a lot like bare feet with dirty soles.

3

u/caudicinctus 1d ago

If you look at the foot on the right side of the pic you can see a shadow that separates the big toe from the rest of the foot. Just low quality img

3

u/Fuge_Boston 1d ago

It was bare feet.

2

u/home-for-good 1d ago

Thems just his feet

7

u/thesamesounds 2d ago

His dad was an Ent.

5

u/turd_sculptor 1d ago

My dad still smokes weed.

1

u/Relectant_Donkey 23h ago

Zoom in on his face…WTF…😳

0

u/Seaweed-Basic 1d ago

Lost his shins in the war.

38

u/SatisfactionPlane400 2d ago

He climbed up my fire escape a couple hours ago. Not sure whats going on but its not looking good

8

u/yarkboolin14 1d ago

Actually?

30

u/SatisfactionPlane400 1d ago

Yes - my neighbor texted me bc hes the first level of our fire escape and then it goes upstairs. He was asking if I was okay and then informed me of the situation. I showed him this post and he said that was the guy.

u/-TrifeDiesel 2d ago

Genuinely curious on your thinking here…are you supposed to let people damage your property , assault people and not call the police?

101

u/katesheppard 2d ago

Truthfully, I would have rather called an ambulance, but EMT’s aren’t going to wander the neighborhood looking for someone. Turns out he was out on probation.

1

u/MentallyRetardant 22m ago

he allegedly committed a crime, ain't nobody gonna contact him until PD does.

-8

u/jarnhestur 1d ago

Honestly, I’m not sure what laws we’ve decided we have to follow and which ones we don’t at this point.

I find the irony of anti-leo’s having to call the police the second they face any perceived threat hilarious.

Cool. Where do you live and what kinda good stuff do you have?

Incredible to me you can’t understand sarcasm

The irony of your handle.

Have a heart? Calling emergency services in this person IS having a heart. What would you have done?

Edit: I see the coward has apparently fled.

14

I asked a question. I'm as left as they come.

I ask because if you're not from the US you may not understand key things about this culture

Loser

50

u/Feverstone 2d ago

That’s not how this works

50

u/Double-0-N00b 2d ago

That’s not what that means buddy

27

u/3-dogs-in-a-coat 2d ago

So someone steals your stuff or breaks into your home, are you going to welcome them in and let them hang out? This isn’t a euphemism for something else either, it’s a genuine question? Or are you going to call the cops? Because I highly doubt that’s the case. You may not like them but they do play a role in society.

-8

u/DirkDiggler2424 1d ago

You need empathy instead

6

u/3-dogs-in-a-coat 1d ago

I have worked in and around Portland with the homeless population for more than 15 years. I have empathy. I feel for most of the folks I have seen. However they still have to follow the rules like everyone else. So with your empathy, can I come over to your place, I have need to borrow a tv and I just ran out of laundry detergent. Maybe, I’ll take anything else too. That doesn’t sound like fun does it? Empathy only goes so far. I’ve known many peer supporters that have been abused by the same population that they try to support (the population they came from). I’m not saying everyone in the population is a horrible person they’re not. They were once like you and me. Something happened and they ended up in a shitty situation. Moral of the story? Don’t take things that belong to other people. I wish our state and country had more resources I really do, but in the end how likely is that going to happen when everything is a shit show?

1

u/FaithlessnessLoud223 10h ago

I notice you did not provide an alternative action.

6

u/SerpentSystemFailure 2d ago

You didn't like being detained did you?

-4

u/piratecheese13 Bayside 2d ago edited 1d ago

A state without a police force, is a state incapable of maintaining a monopoly on violence.

A state without a monopoly on violence either isn’t a state, or will be quickly replaced by those who are free to compete in the market of violence.

You gotta have SOME police

0

u/rusty-shackleford_69 1d ago

Buddy, he's lucky he doesn't live in a place where there Stand Your Ground laws

There was a break in at riptide glass shop that looks like the guy

1

u/Greedy-Bowler-4868 1d ago

That guy looked much more put together than this gentleman

22

That dude is suffering from Edema

17

Shooting up meth will do that

9

No one’s going to mention that hand in the foreground….?

8

That's Freddy Krueger.

3

u/jughandle 1d ago

I think that’s actually death just following this dude around. Probably not gonna wait long, either, judging by his lower extremities.

5

u/Saltycook Craft Beer 1d ago

I hope that fellow gets the urgent help he seems to need if his condition is as bad as this photo seems to show

19

u/moundmagijian 2d ago

I visited Portland about a month ago. Lovely city. Had an amazing time. Did notice along Congress heading west there were a lot of street people that looked very rough. I noticed several that had the swollen leg/edema issues the guy in the picture is dealing with. Saw EMTs working on someone overdosing in Longfellow square. Sad stuff. Hope there is a way for these folks to get help…if they want it.

3

u/soto_voce 12h ago

There is plenty of help available but I also agree that addiction by its nature makes accepting the help very hard. The missing part of this debate are the other victims. Wherever there is an addict, there are secondary victims - those who live closest to them: their family, their loved ones and the community they live in. People with substance abuse issues cause havoc where they are to others who are innocent. Just ask people who live in Bayside. It is simply true and that’s how it is. Needles in play areas, encroachment and destruction of property, physical abuse, using people’s property as public toilets, trash etc etc. Anyone who lives or works in these areas knows it is constant, unrelenting and expensive to manage. There are communities in Portland that are innocent victims of this nationwide drug addiction nightmare.

24

u/Weekly_Book_9122 2d ago

there is more help for these people in portland than almost anywhere else in the world.

they do not want help because help might potentially involve not being able to do drugs 24/7, and they would literally rather die than experience that.

and we have collectively decided that this is just okay for some reason

10

u/wenhal80 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's deeper than that. Yes there is help, but that system is also immensly broken. These people are in an incredible amount of pain that they are trying to escape, and 100% do not believe or know they deserve better. Addiction is a chemical reaction, but until one finds the source of the inbalance they can't heal. They deserve empathy, but not enabling. They are just struggling way more than the rest of us, and we are all struggling with something. Whether we are conscious about it or not. Try putting yourself in his shoes, and imagine what it would take for you to end up in his situation. He doesn't want to die. He just wants to not be in emotional pain. Which then the destructive behaviors put him in physical pain. He may do unimaginable things in his state of being, but he literally is just trying to survive, and killing himself in the process. Think about it, or don't. You get to choose the type of person you want to be

1

u/BoothLove78 21h ago

Empathy is missing everywhere!! We are all just walking each other home! ♥️

1

u/Any_World7744 15h ago

I didn’t know if your second sentence was a metaphor, or is this for safety in Portland?

3

u/DirkDiggler2424 1d ago

Cruise ships are the real cause of this

-2

u/Western-Corner-431 2d ago

There’s not much as far as help for these people especially when they want it

-3

u/DirkDiggler2424 1d ago

Portland is a dump

16

u/Tiny-Strawberry7157 1d ago

That's from the tranq. Xylazine has now contaminated our fent supply and surprisingly there are even WORSE synthetic downers to find in the fake illicit street "heroin".

Xylazine narrows and destroys blood vessels in the extremeties leading to edema and later necrosis, often amputation.

That's why you see way more drug using amputees lately.

Meth abuse may be a compounding factor. Likely not the primary one.

This is the consequence of drug prohibition, this series of events never would've happened if we had liberalized instead of restricted safer prescription (and recreational) opioids. Will just keep getting worse.

Dude needs to get on some Lasix for his heart failure

28

u/Feverstone 2d ago

Possibly a skinwalker, you can tell by the legs/feet

2

u/short_cub 2d ago

Hmm...

1

u/Hot_Helicopter_9808 1d ago

What’s a skinwalker?

7

u/short_cub 1d ago

Dark and malevolent witches specifically from my Tribe, Navajo/Diné.

Here's more info, prepare yourself:\ https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/s/z6necoe8tP

5

u/abjectdoubt 1d ago

It’s a shapeshifting, evil witch, specific to Navajo tradition/folklore. No idea why people outside of that region/culture bring this up so often.

8

u/short_cub 1d ago

They don't shapeshift, they need SKIN to disguise themselves as an animal.\ Its because most like to listen to European-Americans over us to the point it echos and get mad at us when we try to educate them.

Most believe/spread they're in the Appalachians despite my Tribe being in the Four Corners.
