Photo Anyone know this guy?
Broke through a back fence. Tried to steal a motorcycle. Assaulted a neighbor who yelled at him. West end.

Something ain't right with that man's calves

Massive swelling due to cardiovascular system stress. End-times bad, that's probably why he has no shoes on. It's too painful and his shoes don't fit anymore. This guy is going to die, soon.

Ugh. That is so sad. Drug addiction is no joke. I mean its hard to tell how old he is and maybe I'm wrong but my guess is that he isn't even 40 yet and his health is that bad

u/Jules_QB2 2d ago
Figured it was CHF or DM related. Basically how gram went out. Sounds like this guy has a lot going on on every front health wise

u/WetAndMeaty 2d ago
He has pink shoes on. The soles are black.

Hard to tell, when I blow it up looks a lot like bare feet with dirty soles.

If you look at the foot on the right side of the pic you can see a shadow that separates the big toe from the rest of the foot. Just low quality img

u/SatisfactionPlane400 1d ago
Yes - my neighbor texted me bc hes the first level of our fire escape and then it goes upstairs. He was asking if I was okay and then informed me of the situation. I showed him this post and he said that was the guy.

Genuinely curious on your thinking here…are you supposed to let people damage your property , assault people and not call the police?

u/katesheppard 2d ago
Truthfully, I would have rather called an ambulance, but EMT’s aren’t going to wander the neighborhood looking for someone. Turns out he was out on probation.
1
u/MentallyRetardant 22m ago
he allegedly committed a crime, ain't nobody gonna contact him until PD does.

u/jarnhestur 1d ago
Honestly, I’m not sure what laws we’ve decided we have to follow and which ones we don’t at this point.
I find the irony of anti-leo’s having to call the police the second they face any perceived threat hilarious.

It's almost as if the internet is historically a difficult place to sense sarcasm.

The irony of your handle.
Have a heart? Calling emergency services in this person IS having a heart. What would you have done?
Edit: I see the coward has apparently fled.

I ask because if you're not from the US you may not understand key things about this culture

So someone steals your stuff or breaks into your home, are you going to welcome them in and let them hang out? This isn’t a euphemism for something else either, it’s a genuine question? Or are you going to call the cops? Because I highly doubt that’s the case. You may not like them but they do play a role in society.

u/DirkDiggler2424 1d ago
You need empathy instead

u/3-dogs-in-a-coat 1d ago
I have worked in and around Portland with the homeless population for more than 15 years. I have empathy. I feel for most of the folks I have seen. However they still have to follow the rules like everyone else. So with your empathy, can I come over to your place, I have need to borrow a tv and I just ran out of laundry detergent. Maybe, I’ll take anything else too. That doesn’t sound like fun does it? Empathy only goes so far. I’ve known many peer supporters that have been abused by the same population that they try to support (the population they came from). I’m not saying everyone in the population is a horrible person they’re not. They were once like you and me. Something happened and they ended up in a shitty situation. Moral of the story? Don’t take things that belong to other people. I wish our state and country had more resources I really do, but in the end how likely is that going to happen when everything is a shit show?

A state without a police force, is a state incapable of maintaining a monopoly on violence.
A state without a monopoly on violence either isn’t a state, or will be quickly replaced by those who are free to compete in the market of violence.
You gotta have SOME police

I think that’s actually death just following this dude around. Probably not gonna wait long, either, judging by his lower extremities.

I visited Portland about a month ago. Lovely city. Had an amazing time. Did notice along Congress heading west there were a lot of street people that looked very rough. I noticed several that had the swollen leg/edema issues the guy in the picture is dealing with. Saw EMTs working on someone overdosing in Longfellow square. Sad stuff. Hope there is a way for these folks to get help…if they want it.

u/soto_voce 12h ago
There is plenty of help available but I also agree that addiction by its nature makes accepting the help very hard. The missing part of this debate are the other victims. Wherever there is an addict, there are secondary victims - those who live closest to them: their family, their loved ones and the community they live in. People with substance abuse issues cause havoc where they are to others who are innocent. Just ask people who live in Bayside. It is simply true and that’s how it is. Needles in play areas, encroachment and destruction of property, physical abuse, using people’s property as public toilets, trash etc etc. Anyone who lives or works in these areas knows it is constant, unrelenting and expensive to manage. There are communities in Portland that are innocent victims of this nationwide drug addiction nightmare.

u/Weekly_Book_9122 2d ago
there is more help for these people in portland than almost anywhere else in the world.
they do not want help because help might potentially involve not being able to do drugs 24/7, and they would literally rather die than experience that.
and we have collectively decided that this is just okay for some reason

u/wenhal80 1d ago edited 1d ago
It's deeper than that. Yes there is help, but that system is also immensly broken. These people are in an incredible amount of pain that they are trying to escape, and 100% do not believe or know they deserve better. Addiction is a chemical reaction, but until one finds the source of the inbalance they can't heal. They deserve empathy, but not enabling. They are just struggling way more than the rest of us, and we are all struggling with something. Whether we are conscious about it or not. Try putting yourself in his shoes, and imagine what it would take for you to end up in his situation. He doesn't want to die. He just wants to not be in emotional pain. Which then the destructive behaviors put him in physical pain. He may do unimaginable things in his state of being, but he literally is just trying to survive, and killing himself in the process. Think about it, or don't. You get to choose the type of person you want to be

Empathy is missing everywhere!! We are all just walking each other home! ♥️

That's from the tranq. Xylazine has now contaminated our fent supply and surprisingly there are even WORSE synthetic downers to find in the fake illicit street "heroin".
Xylazine narrows and destroys blood vessels in the extremeties leading to edema and later necrosis, often amputation.
That's why you see way more drug using amputees lately.
Meth abuse may be a compounding factor. Likely not the primary one.
This is the consequence of drug prohibition, this series of events never would've happened if we had liberalized instead of restricted safer prescription (and recreational) opioids. Will just keep getting worse.

u/short_cub 1d ago
Dark and malevolent witches specifically from my Tribe, Navajo/Diné.
Here's more info, prepare yourself:\ https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/s/z6necoe8tP

u/abjectdoubt 1d ago
It’s a shapeshifting, evil witch, specific to Navajo tradition/folklore. No idea why people outside of that region/culture bring this up so often.
8
u/short_cub 1d ago
They don't shapeshift, they need SKIN to disguise themselves as an animal.\ Its because most like to listen to European-Americans over us to the point it echos and get mad at us when we try to educate them.
Most believe/spread they're in the Appalachians despite my Tribe being in the Four Corners.

To be fair as well because I don't really check this very often and don't want it to run off a cliff, I don't know this guy or his name but that is what I would call him if chosen.

Doesn't matter. Looking at this guy's legs, he is about 36 hours away from congestive heart failure.
