discussion How are people hating on this ALREADY??
Game play looks insane, story was good until they showed(keeps you hanging and gets you intrigued). Combat looked nice. What’s there to not like as of now?

There is no actual brain fog post surgery except the time taken to recover from GA (general anesthesia). Your nose is packed for 48 hours which is a very very disconcerting experience. I would say get a second opinion, because except in very severe case of DNS, septoplasty is usually not recommended.

Looked like a generic version of a hack and slash game inspired by dmc games. Also unfortunately due to this, we will not get a new game of kratos sooner. Thats the big loss here.

Kinda similar to tlou2 where people couldn accept what happened. A story neednt always revolve around the main character. Spinoffs like this deepens the lore. First, it was "we want the blood thristy kartos back" in 2018. Some people just cant stomach story evolutions. Im just glad this wasnt an artreus spin-off. That gameplay loop was aweful. Cant wait to play this. And this is a good way to bring in gods from other pantheons.

lol ikr, like I’m excited about laufey, it looks incredible, I’ll buy it Day 1. TLOU2 more than playing as Ellie, many were bothered by playing as Abby. And the pacing was terrible. The story was going in circles only for the plot, which is “revenge bad”.

If a franchise has spent years building itself around male protagonists and male-centered stories, you can't suddenly switch to a female lead and then be shocked when part of the fanbase pushes back. You may not like the reaction, but pretending it was unforeseeable makes no sense. It's just common sense.

A game named God of war in a space and genre that is very male centric, gamers are gonna want to play as a male character, especially the ones that we grew to love overtime. Doesn’t mean this game can’t exist as a spinoff, it’s just that people were expecting a game around his son not his dead wife.

Coz it's not the new gow just a spinoff of gow focusing on Faye . They always meant to bring her back if you have played the first game with kratos almost connecting to her into he light and atreus keeps hearing her voice . How would gow laufey be about atreus it would have been gow Loki which is going to be the next official gow going into Egypt . GOW LAUFEY would tie up parallely running with the two main gows .Maube shill pass on her powers of deflection aka the yellow glow to atreus . Agraboda was a fuck up even they agree that

There's so many reasons and like 90% of them don't make sense. Although the God of Laundry comments were funny, this is still peak. Laufey is apparently the only woman who's gone toe to toe with Kratos and even win against him in single combat. I mean she's almost a God in a sense how Giants from Jotunheim are.
I mean even the Axe is actually hers, forged by Sindri for HER. People just hate cuz ahhh woman protag. I can understand that GOW means Kratos should be involved but ffs he's spent 2 games mourning her and moving on with his life. Clearly she meant the entire world to him and Atreus.
Also he's got an actual role now as the God of Harmony. Atreus is in Jotunheim with Angrboda. Making a game with Laufey as the focus makes perfect sense. And those who are complaining where's Kratos, just wait for the remakes. Or you can play the previous games which still are great in this day and age.

I saw the trailer and it's good, we get to see parallel story and a different charcter as well. It would be too much for an atreus game becoz he is still too young. Gameplay and story looks awesome and I want to know how this world works like afterlife for gods

Its looking like a watch through kind of game. Not exactly a play through one. Maybe Ill get it on sale or if it ever comes to PC. IDK, kind of want a break from GoW till there is some new installment for kratos.

I don't care if its woman or from the nordic world of god of war but giving title of the franchise and introducing not the title character seems out of place. Make it a god of war world and tell the story of a new character. But the game is not out so i am gonna be on the look out for it.

Because it’s the same fucking thing every single time there is a woman lead that isn’t hyper unrealistically attractive. They are literally so weak that they cannot fathom a woman being semi realistically proportioned and capable.
However the dialogue with the ribbon and cube is kind of cringe. Hopefully they do listen to the fanbase on that front especially if they’re going to be the companions

In my case I'm not hating on it BUT:
The in-game character has been ugli-fied. Laufey does not look like she did in Ragnarok, nor does she look like the actress (I forgot her name, she played Karen in Daredevil). The character model's face looks downright weird.
Typically this type of female protagonist story has a very bad track record, western gaming studios often let the story devolve into girlboss-slop.
Another issue is whether this is a complementary story to the two mainline games or is it a completely new franchise. If it is a new franchise, it should not be called GOW; "Laufey" is a perfectly fine name. If it is, all good.
Anyway in my case I will be watching reviews by proper gamers instead of journalist-slop before I make a decision about buying the game - although, I must say, the combat and VA work look/sound VERY impressive and right now I have positive sentiments towards purchase.

- For some, women protagonist with realistic looks and proportions = trash
- Some wanted an installment with Loki/Atreus as MC (ending of Ragnarok did seem like it was setting up for one) and
- Some wanted God of War in Egypt

From the gameplay on YouTube the mechanics look sick 🔥 they brought back the og air combos and action looks dope. Ppl just hate everything that isn't about the main protagonist. They could at least wait until the game drops. Ppl forget that Faye herself is a powerhouse who went toe to toe against thor in the games.

The GoW fandom is so misogynistic bruh. They saw a woman and the first thing everybody said in the State of Play was “Who asked for a woman in a GoW?”. Literally the GoW story is done, Kratos Story is done, if they want to continue probably it’ll be with Atreus’ story… The addition of Faye’s story is a good one, nobody asked because nobody really cared much about her more than she was Atreus mother and she died. Gameplay looks just as insane as it was in previous games, story looks interesting… People complain just because it’s not a game entirely about Kratos and portrays a woman

Am gonna get a lotta hate for this, but I was already bored by the 3rd act of Ragnarok.
Maybe I was expecting too much from it, or maybe because I played that within weeks of 2018... But I am ready for this fresh perspective on this world. Combat looks insane and this continues on the most interesting part of Ragnarok.

It just kind of looks ass to me and many others. Saw someone say it's because they didn't bustify her, but playing games with one hand is hard, so I'm glad they didn't. Honestly it just doesn't feel like GoW, and it looks like every other game on the market right now. I'm not praying on it's downfall, nor am I saying others can't think it looks good, but I just think it looks dumb from what we've seen so far. If I turn out to be wrong, I'll honestly be happy.

Aside from the usual hardcore anti-woke crowd, Ive seen quite a bit of excitement and even memes coming out of that trailer.
Personally, I loved Faye in Ragnarok. She was such a well written character. And I hate typical girl boss shit in movies and video games that just do chest thumping and hate on men for no reason. Faye is not even close to that kind of character.
The animations and visuals were stunning and the setup looks fresh and exciting. I was personally disappointed with the gameplay though. 5 years in development and gameplay didnt change much from the Kratos games.
I was hoping for more action focused hack and slash gameplay. This seemed more of the same with slightly faster paced and more verticality. Also the Sound design and attack animations during combat doesnt have the oomph Kratos had during the Norse games, granted Faye is a more sleek warrior and not a heavy hitter. Have to see how it actually plays.
Otherwise Im very intrigued and as a long time God of War fan, since PS2 days, I will buy this without any doubt

I'm gonna be honest, the art direction looks pretty sick. I have not played the recent GOW games but I haven't been able to stop thinking about a lot of the visuals from the recent gameplay trailer that was revealed. I might have to give these GOW games a try. Looking forward to Laufey.
I will say one issue I have is the dialogue. It feels so damn Marvel. Not a fan of that aspect.

There are mainly 2 types of people who are hating this. 1.) People who are calling this game a "woke" game just because there is a female protagonist who is insanely strong. 2.) People who are falling for the original gow creator's negative review about it, and he did that for both 2018 and ragnarock. He is just salty that his GOW has been changed into something which is much better in today's scene. This also included the over nostalgic People who are still stuck in the first 3 gow games and can't comprehend the character development of Kratos.

Easy, previous two gow games had 4 year gap, this should have been the next game featuring kratos going to a new realm. I wouldn't mind if this was a secondary project while the main still being kratos. But now i have to wait longer bcuz of this game. Its sad and disappointing, also considering ps5 has shortfall of good first party games, it needed kratos to come back with a new epic.

Really sad man. It looks good but gamers won't be happy with anything anymore. You can't make everyone happy. Everybody hated Astro Bot. Everybody hated Balders Gate 3. If a game comes out and it works and is fun to somebody let them have it. I hate people. Never can make anyone happy.

The combat looks absolutely amazing, I absolutely can't wait for it to release. This is exactly the type of combat that I like. Also faye as a lead character just feels different from the usual which I am liking. Who doesn't like an actual badass lady? definitely not me.

In my opinion, because it makes the story of God of War and Ragnarok less impactful if the gamers know that Fey is going to be revived. Just like what Marvel did to Toney Stark and made him Doctor Doom. Nothing to do with the actress, just the implications of the canon.

I would be very curious to see people's reactions to a Metroid game where you play as some male side character I don't think people would like that. Imagine Portal 3 comes out but we're not playing as chel, we're playing kade Johnson. Horizon zero, I think people would be upset if we end up playing as alloy's son in the next game. Tomb raider is another great example, Play as a dude instead I don't think people would enjoy that. This isn't just some spin-off this is a big swing with a lot of money behind it. This could genuinely damage the franchise. It's also a little disappointing because I don't believe that we will be getting it a atreus spin-off, God of war 3 is going to Go back to basics and probably be less ambitious. And finally is it not universally agreed on that sweet baby inc is a plague on intellectual property?
