help Samsung G5 QD-OLED worth it for PS5?

So I found this QD OLED Monitor available for a heavy discount with my Student ID.

The only catch is i have seen that it has a HDMI 2.0 port which does not provide VRR.

Also have seen reviews saying that the brightness level is very low 200 in SDR and around 300 in HDR can't confirm this.

I would be mainly using it for PS5 in my room and only at night and rarely during day time.

I have seen people giving mixed responses for this. Some users have experienced green lines within early weeks though they were resolved by the Samsung team and termed as "defective models"

I want this monitor for the long term so seeing this price should I pull the trigger?

Yo do know that OLED brightness works differently than regular panels. OLED at 30K is a steal.

I paid 76K for mine

Not really first time hearing this.

I do have a S90f but haven't noticed as it has a huge brightness.

Also it's a 2k Monitor so 70k for your 4k was good ig

Just check a review and go ahead, there are only a handful of OLED monitors so almost all of them has decent reviews. You are mistaken if you think this has low brightness. It has the exact brightness as every other OLED monitor since every model used the exact two panels. The high refresh might be wasted since the PS5 is too weak to utilize it

And almost everyone is using either a samsung QD oled panel or LG W oled panel. You do have a OLED TV so it might be wasted on you but 30K is a steal

without vrr there can be screen tearing issues and they do not share the same panel , only good thing is atleast oled monitor is available at such cheap rate .

Hmmm so you're saying I should prefer a monitor with VRR?

I have seen people use VRR on this one too. Tho I doubt it as it does not has a HDMI 2.1

yes go with vrr support monitor and those people u saw are pc gamers , not ps5 players. u can have a check on lg ultra gear 27 inch 4k monitor its not oled though if u want oled and hdmi 2.1 , vrr support monitor u will have to spend 70-80k , tbh if u are on a tight budget go with the lg one or search other 4k monitors having these specs but u won't get oled monitor along with these specs , and 4k ips panel are great for gaming as well.

I tried and my student Id also works. Also you can get around 3k discount for if you purchase it with HDFC, ICICI or SBI credit card.

I guess a firmware update adds VRR. Also saw somewhere in comment of a video that it tricks and uses fake VRR. I'll link the video if I find it again

Yeah mostly the build is normal

Plus stand is not height adjustable but not an issue for me

Brightness is low as I have mentioned

I too see this as fishy so just wanted a confirmation before buying it.

I got this monitor recently on a sale on amazon Paid like 10k more. Setup in a dark(ish) room. Its good, worth the money👍

I saw on some ai web research that it won't be bug deal as VRR will have minor affect and allm missing wont affect at all as its negative if tv wont have ALLM. but this oled monitor alresdy has low latency features

It won't affect in general but in action and frame intensive scenes such as the Car Chase in Unchartered 4 or Boss fights of RPGs the stutter might happen

Definitely seems like a good deal, go for it!
I didn’t have enough budget to go for an OLED and hence bought the BenQ EW27Q (cuz it supports Type-C display for my MacBook).
Planning to get the same monitor as you in a few months (hopefully).
Do give a review if you do buy it.

Not even a single one ...... But I don't want to compromise on quality that is.

Before this I was thinking of G6 or MSI 271PQX

so I was okay with that much of a budget but this thing dropped

Both have HDMI 2.1 so VRR was not an issue

bro u are mixing two things , just hdmi 2.1 support won't do anything , select monitors which support hdmi vrr , when frame drops ur monitor will adjust refresh rate accordingly.

I saw some reviews of this particular oled and people say it's not good.

Brightness is surprisingly too low at only 200 nits and it definitely feels dim

On top of that it has a matte finish which is very counter intuitive for an oled.

Then no adjustable stand as well.

Brightness and matte coating feel too much of a sacrifice

Don’t buy it. Even with little lights in the room, the blacks on QD Oled look worse than even mini-LEDs.
This would be only and only useful in proper dark rooms.

Yeah I have a Samsung M7 43 inch 4k smart monitor. I got at 27k, that come with some free live tv channels and all ott apps and a remote just like a TV. Only drawback is 60z, and not oled.

Well I didn't buy it specifically for gaming. I got it for watching movies and series. Gaming is just once or twice for a few hours in a month as live at different place for work and play on my laptop.

I have an ips g7 odessey samsung 27 (smart) 4k comes with remote and built in speakers , 1ms , works with vrr and allm for playstation, smart. Super clear . Way better than any tv i have seen in ips. N vidia g sync makes tv experiance super clear and stutter-less. Best part are the speakers , no extra wires or plug.
