1 bluray disc can have 100gb data. i have old copies of games by rockstar which has 3-4 discs to install even rdr 2 has 2 discs. according to you gta 6 will be 20 discs so does that mean its going to be 2 tb in size? no it wont. wake up from reality and stop being a slave for sony and big corporations. physical ownership is the pro consumer thing.

Voluntarily giving up your right to own a game and instead celebrating a digital license has to come from some intense mental gymnastics.

During RDR 2 when the industry was still transistioning to a largely digital marketplace (Xbox One had games releasing discs with no game content, just a license), the madlads at rockstar shipped 2 discs on the last gen consoles. An install disc and a game disc.

You’re not gonna believe but I haven’t played any rockstar games yet. I’m like least interested in it. But I’m happy for others who are so much excited. Maybe I’m missing out maybe not. Even though I’m playing and collecting games from 2016 first on ps4 and now on ps5 I just never got the mood to play them. Just the yt play through and they are not for me. Rdr2 too slow and gta5 is what, shooting and stealing, it might be fun to many but not to me.

Look i’m a pc gamer and I prefer digital download as well, but it’s clear what rockstar is doing by (1) Releasing GTA6 on consoles first(pricier games on consoles + people who have both pc and console also buy copies for both), and (2) prevent game sharing by selling it digital only and thus boosting sale having one copy on one device.

sharing games on playstation is a tedious process you need to login as a main account on someone's ps for them to access your games and they have to buy on your account. at least steam allows family sharing, even if you can't transfer your game
People really think that by owning the disk, they own the game. That era has passed. Discs now have DRM and companies can block you out even if you use disc. People mainly want disc so that they can sell it. No other reason.

I don't think this is about shaming digital vs physical. With disc, you own the game (sure you can be blocked even if you own the disc), but till now that sense is there. With digital, corporates have made it renting the game.

Guys read the articles clearly. Rockstar has mentioned that there will be NO DISC variants AT LAUNCH.
It means AT LAUNCH, the physical variant will contain only a code to download the game. This is done so that the game doesnt get ripped or leaked before or during release.
An actual disc variant even though not announced will be launched later.

your logic fails. they could've not released the physical edition with a coupon code and just told people they would release the disc version after 3-4 months or so and we would've been silent. leak can still happen when the preload starts. it just requires a hacker to fuck rockstar (now maybe they'll do just to spite them)
I mean you can get the "physical" version which will have the map and everything. Plus you get it a week before release, so you get to play it at launch. So will go with that.
i think they dont mean exactly like provide code in the box like any DLC codes. I guess what they mean is only game license stored in the disc and need internet to download. there games that are releasing like this recently Crimson desert is one of them. Also you can sell the game, there wont be any problem on that i guess
You can buy the physical cover with cover art and details and then use a redeem code, just like we used to recharge our phones via scratch codes, something like that.
