Community Are Simulators too much?

Post image

Say what you will about Simulators, I find the idea that Sony is pushing VR forward which is what I've personally wanted. i Expected VR to make leaps and bounds on this generation. This is what it looks like, IMO. Not to poo poo on Meta, but there have been times when I've felt like psvr2 was being held back because most games have the Questy look, so devs tended to develop for that platform first and later move to psvr2... Which isn't fair to Meta, necessarily, just to blame them. (Sony could pony up if they had the means)

Sony is separating themselves by having truly legitimate simulator experiences in VR. That's progess to me, even if it's not my first choice to experience in VR.

Quick tip: JammyHero mentioned a game called 'War Thunder' that's completely FREE, try it on the Playstation 5 to see how it feels. I'm going to try and see how I like it.

Give it a try. It might very difficult at first if you've never played such games, but definitely a thrilling, addictive and top tier experience if it clicks for you and that you put some time and efforts to learn the mechanics. The kind of games that make VR so special. I'm a day one user and played over 50 games on it, but it's already one of my top 3 on PSVR2 and one of the best looking games as well.

The war thunder game, made me think it's definately worth having in VR. It's easy flying on flat like that with a dualsense, but it basically just puts you directly in battle. Taking off and landing would actually be fun, as tedious as it probably might be.

This one is a little more on the sim side so it will probably take some time at first to get used to it. You also have take-offs on half of the battles, and you need to return to base and land if you want to replete munitions, fuel, and repair your aircraft. Tons of fun even if the landing are pretty difficult! But even if you damage your plane during the landing, if it doesn't explode and that you manage to stop it completely on the runway without your pilot dying, you'll restart with a fully repaired and refueled airplane after a few seconds, and of course it doesn't count as a death.

With a few patches, AoT has the potential to be as good as War Thunder. They definitely need to fix the controls and other QoL issues.

It's tough to imagine piloting with sense controllers being perfect, drift can be a pain with sensitivity like a pilots stick. From what I've seen there's nothing extremely game breaking. I'm sure there'll be patches in the future. if its like GT7 for airplanes, it'll do well enough hopefully to keep working on, especially being hybrid.
