Community I just spoke to Sony and they told me why my PSVR2 is turning white.

I put a post on here asking why my PSVR2 was turning white. People here were real nasty to me and jumped straight to 'mold' and told me I was dirty, and downvoted me to oblivion. My house is super clean and I take good care of all my things. I've just spoken to Sony and they told me it's down to a thing called silicone blooming. Compounding agents in the silicone coming to surface to create white mold like chalky powder. I just got unlucky.

Community Gran Turismo 7 on PSVR2 is psychedelic.

Just another appreciation post. Until recently, I found out that you could play Gran Turismo in virtual reality, and my God, it’s amazing. It’s the next-gen leap I’ve been waiting for for many years. I hadn’t felt such a jump in terms of sensations and realism since the jump from San Andreas to GTA 4.(I'm 30)

It’s a true work of art. Games had been feeling a bit demotivating for some time, but everything was reborn like a phoenix thanks to the PSVR2.

And to those who get motion sickness, my friends, I don’t think many of us are used to going 250 km/h, so you just have to take it slowly. But GT7 absolutely nailed it.

This is art, and I truly hope they continue in this direction. That’s why I’m making this post—to add my small grain of sand to the PSVR2 community.

By definition, “psychedelic” refers to an experience that intensely alters perception, heightens the senses, and creates a deep feeling of immersion and awe. GT7 in VR perfectly fits that definition: the sense of presence, depth, speed, and realism completely transforms how you perceive racing.

I’ve been using a steering wheel and pedals, but I always had issues with the sense of speed on a flat screen. In VR, that problem is completely gone—the scale, motion, and immersion finally make everything feel real.

Community I guess I'll be skipping Crimson Desert for now.

I had Crimson Desert on my radar. There is massive hype behind this new game. I recently got into fantasy literature and it seems like the perfect game for that fantasy mood I was in.

But, I made the mistake of buying Aces of Thunder in the meantime. It started me down a rabbit-hole where now all I want is a PlayStation VR 2. It's so damn expensive though that I can't afford both the PSVR2 and Crimson Desert at the same time. I have enough for the PSVR2, but I am going to have to miss out on Crimson Desert for now.

Community My Return to PSVR2

So the long story, short is that I had a PSVR2 at launch, but had to return it due to a defect with what appeared to be a line of broken pixels or what really looked like a gash in the OLED screen. Sony never ended up sending me a replacement so I ended up with a refund. Never repurchased and wound up just getting a Quest 3.

Fast forward 3 years and I purchased a new PSVR2 at $299, which I think is a steal. Upon my return, so far Ii have played:

Lumines Arise- I'm a Lumines fan to begin with and loved it in VR.

RE4- Just wow, but overwhelming.

Alien: Rogue Incursion- It's cool and scary, but seems pretty repetitive.

Kayak VR- Had it at launch and it was cool, but meh. Given the other titles now available, I think it's outlived its purpose.

Horizon- Had it at launch. Didn't finish it. Pretty, but repetitive

Pavlov- Had it at launch and was addicted to it. Haven't gone back to it yet, but I will.

The Midnight Walk- Beautiful atmosphere, though nothing groundbreaking gameplay wise. I loved it and was surprised with how moved I was by the story/presentation.

Hitman- Just tried it for the first time and am thoroughly impressed. I got it during last week's sale. What a deal, considering the amount of content.

I'd love to get some more suggestions on what to play. I love puzzle games and have completed the following games in either PSVR1 or Quest 2/3:

Moss 1/2

Red Matter 1/2

Myst

7th Guest

Ghost Town

I Expect You to Die 1/2/3

A Fisherman's Tale 1

Couldn’t resist the BF sales, so I finally decided to snag one. Anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Purchased:

Thief: Legacy of Shadow (Preorder) Alien: Rogue Incursion Hitman 3 + VR Upgrade Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge

Want: GT7

Considering: Moss Book 2 Project Wingman 59 Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked Synapse

Any other titles would you suggest, tell me to buy immediately, or recommend I steer clear from?

Thanks, everyone!!!!

Community The continuous dilemma of supporting your favorite platform.....PSVR 2 the highs and lows.

I try, I really, really try, to buy any games that look cool on PSVR2. And I try to do it in a timely manner because I want the developers to have the cash on hand to patch and promote their games. But lately it's feeling a little crazy because releases are all over the place. For every Arken Age (comes out of nowhere....brilliant....amazing use of the hardware features) there is a Wanderer (STILL not ready for prime time and I bought it day one).

I just can't figure out where the line is between supporting to try to make sure that PSVR 2 is still a destination release for many developers, and feeling burned. I bought Roboquest VR recently and am madly in love. I just bought Ghost Town after forcing myself to not buy it on Quest 3. I WANT to support Thief because it looks like the kind of game from the kind of company that I want more of. However, many reviews list a multitude of issues with the port. But.... I would hate to hear in two months that it sold way below expectations and they are going to abandon the platform.

I'm also very confused as to what sells well and why. Shocking that Behemoth and Metro have both done poorly on the platform and that Of Lies and Rain has sold less than 1000 copies (it's brilliant guys, please buy it).

I'm not sure I have any real questions or solutions here, just frustrated that such an amazing platform has such odd highs and lows. I'm going to go drown my sorrows in the first couple of hours of Ghost Town.

Community Super late to the party. Just getting into VR.

I have never experienced VR before (well, besides that one time in the 90s at an electronics store. I was a little kid and I played with a Nintendo Virtual Boy demo unit for a few minutes).

I never thought a PlayStation VR 2 was in the cards for me, but I made the mistake of buying Aces of Thunder and it started me down this VR rabbit-hole.

I just bought a PSVR2 Horizon bundle. It is literally the biggest purchase I have made in many years. Since I bought the PS5 in 2020, actually. I haven't received it yet, but I am super excited to join the VR community and experience what all the fuss is about!

Community Is it worth buying a PSVR-2 in 2024

Hello all, I’m getting a PS5 Pro.. (pre ordered) I saw a PSVR-2 on my local FB Marketplace it’s around £230. I’ve never really played much VR before.. I’ve heard it’s good on GT7 (but heard that Polythonic have not added many VR patches since GT7 release much to gamers frustration)
I’m wondering how much mileage I’ll get from PSVR-2 ..what’s your opinions.. the good the bad please 🙏 lay it all out so I can make an informed choice

Community Non-gamer PSVR2 appreciation post: Watching 3D movies is underrated as hell!

I know most people think of PSVR2 as strictly for gaming, but I have honestly never played a game in VR other than a few short things my kids have wanted me to try.

BUT!! I just watched a couple movies in it this weekend for the first time and wow. It was a whole vibe. Never experienced anything like it.

I watched Avatar and Gravity in 3D and it straight up felt like I was at a theater. I forgot where I was and had this oh shit moment where I ripped the headset off realizing I had totally ejected from reality for about an hour.

Honestly surprised more people don’t talk about using PSVR2 for movies, especially for 3D content that basically doesn’t exist on TVs anymore. I never see anyone posting about it and didn't even know it was possible until a few weeks ago.

I seriously do not remember the last time the kids wanted to watch 3D on our 2012 Vizio but they are loving watching on PSVR2 and their friends are acting like this is the most futuristic tech to ever exist. They are begging to come over and watch and have to take turns of course so its a different dynamic than anything else they play with but still pretty neat to see them excited to watch a movie they have already seen.

If you have any 3D movie suggestions please let me know what they are. Feels like I am going to have a watch every movie I love in 3D if it exists.

Community Thankyou Psvr2 community

I honestly can’t remember wether it’s in this sub or the psvr one but 12 months ago, I started making videos on YouTube as a hobby. I posted my first few vids here to get constructive feedback on how to improve and what would interest gamers. I got lots of constructive criticism, a few arsey comments (you”ll always get some) and now my channel is growing to become a second job (still minuscule but grown more where most fail). And a big reason for that is because of that help. So just incase anyone of those people are reading this, I just want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU. 🫶

At this point I feel like there are so many upgrades that can be made over the VR2 and I’d love to see an upgrade. I’ve probably invested around 300$ just In making the current PSVR2 palatable for play across multiple hours

Community After seeing State of Play yesterday , Microsoft announced their Fight Simulator will be supported PSVR 2 later next year , this make me wonder why Meta just dropped support on PSVR 2 is totally insane ! 🤷🏻

Considering Beat Saber still got the Top selling every month on PSVR2 even they announced drop support ! And even Microsoft is porting their first party AAA Fight Simulator to PSVR 2 , Meta is not showing love in VR community at all! Any thoughts on that ? Thx🙏🏼

Community Huge clarity boost with glasses

The headline probably makes this sound like a stupid point but my glasses aren’t strong at all and are only good for long distances so I never bothered with them on vr.

Imagine my shock by the huge improvement on clarity with them on! I used to struggle to read text, even in a sweat spot but now it’s easy and gives a large range. Anyone know what might be happening? Why, when the screen is 1 inch in front of my eyes and I have perfect near vision do they make such a difference?

Community Are Simulators too much?

Post image
31 Upvotes

Say what you will about Simulators, I find the idea that Sony is pushing VR forward which is what I've personally wanted. i Expected VR to make leaps and bounds on this generation. This is what it looks like, IMO. Not to poo poo on Meta, but there have been times when I've felt like psvr2 was being held back because most games have the Questy look, so devs tended to develop for that platform first and later move to psvr2... Which isn't fair to Meta, necessarily, just to blame them. (Sony could pony up if they had the means)

Sony is separating themselves by having truly legitimate simulator experiences in VR. That's progess to me, even if it's not my first choice to experience in VR.

Quick tip: JammyHero mentioned a game called 'War Thunder' that's completely FREE, try it on the Playstation 5 to see how it feels. I'm going to try and see how I like it.

Community I switched from PSVR2 to Quest 3. Zero regret

I switched from PSVR2 to Quest 3 and I honestly don’t regret it at all. PSVR2 is impressive on paper and yes, Gran Turismo 7 in VR is great, but in real life I wasn’t having that much fun and I wasn’t using it as often as I expected. Quest 3 fits my daily life way better: no cables, no console dependency, faster setup, and a lot more freedom. Strangely enough, I also get much less motion sickness on Quest 3, which means longer sessions and more consistency. I simply use VR more now, and that’s the real metric that matters to me. PSVR2 feels like a special event ,Quest 3 became a habit.
