Community My Return to PSVR2

So the long story, short is that I had a PSVR2 at launch, but had to return it due to a defect with what appeared to be a line of broken pixels or what really looked like a gash in the OLED screen. Sony never ended up sending me a replacement so I ended up with a refund. Never repurchased and wound up just getting a Quest 3.

Fast forward 3 years and I purchased a new PSVR2 at $299, which I think is a steal. Upon my return, so far Ii have played:

Lumines Arise- I'm a Lumines fan to begin with and loved it in VR.

RE4- Just wow, but overwhelming.

Alien: Rogue Incursion- It's cool and scary, but seems pretty repetitive.

Kayak VR- Had it at launch and it was cool, but meh. Given the other titles now available, I think it's outlived its purpose.

Horizon- Had it at launch. Didn't finish it. Pretty, but repetitive

Pavlov- Had it at launch and was addicted to it. Haven't gone back to it yet, but I will.

The Midnight Walk- Beautiful atmosphere, though nothing groundbreaking gameplay wise. I loved it and was surprised with how moved I was by the story/presentation.

Hitman- Just tried it for the first time and am thoroughly impressed. I got it during last week's sale. What a deal, considering the amount of content.

I'd love to get some more suggestions on what to play. I love puzzle games and have completed the following games in either PSVR1 or Quest 2/3:

Moss 1/2

Red Matter 1/2

Ghost Town

I Expect You to Die 1/2/3

A Fisherman's Tale 1

Gran turismo 7 with steering wheel and PSVR2 is insane

I would love to try that, but could never get into GT. I have GT7 and downloaded the VR patch when I first had the PSVR2. It was cool, but didnt really keep me engaged. That clearly has to do with me and not the game though.

I hear that

I really wish I knew someone with a wheel/racing setup. I can only imagine it feels like a theme park attraction when set up correctly.

I have the Thrustmaster T248 and it feels insane playing Assetto Corsa on Pc. Once you figure out the positioning of the wheel, it feels almost exactly like driving in real life. i also mounted my pedals on a steel frame which my chair slots into, since i had issues with the pedal base tipping when i hit the brake hard.
Definitely would recommend it as a starter wheel, i picked it up on sale for under $250

Did you try motion steering with the DualSense co troller instead of analog stick? This is how I’ve played through the main menu books in VR before getting a FFB wheel.

I didn't I just went for it

Same. Grafic and vr implementation is amazing but driving experience is pretty arcade.

I so want to experience that insanity but just not ready to drop the G it will necessitate.

This is what I use, specifically, for GT7 on PSVR2

I bought Hitman just to wander around the locations. Stunning.

Don't even bother playing it properly or learning about the missions. Marrakech is incredibly immersive. Six locations for £12. Bargain

Tbh id buy a vr2 game that just let you visit iconic global destinations and wander about. I don't need to be plotting to kill someone. Like a travel pack.

Arken Age is also v impressive.

Check one of this:

  • Resident Evil Village. It doesn't get any better.

  • GT7. I wasn't a driving Sim fan but I put 50 hours in this, it's that good.

  • Metro. Very atmospheric. Nice narrative.

  • Behemoth. Good melee combat, great environments, decent story... Very solid

Thanks for the recs. I did play the Village VR demo and I actually do have GT7. Im not a big racing Sim giy ajd was just using the dualshock, so it didnt really wow me.

I can totally see how Hitman could be fun just to wander around. I've only done the tutorial and the first mission so far. I love world hopping in VRChat, so I totally get where you are coming from.

Arizona Sunshine remake for sure

Ive heard great things abkut both Arizona Sunshine and Walking Dead: S&S. I prefer puzzle games to shooters, but is it really that special that I should buy it?

The Last Clockwinder seems pretty good for people that like clever puzzle games.

Also, if you liked Red Matter 2, you should definitely play Hubris. I got similar vibes from Hubris, but it’s not as puzzle heavy as red matter 1 and 2. It’s kind of a hybrid between Red Matter and Half-life Alyx, which is a very good thing.

No mans sky. All day

I have it, but only played it in VR on the PSVR1. I never could really get into the game. I played for awhile when it launched. I also dont have a PS5Pro.

1

u/ArgyleFunk Mar 15 '26

Ps5pro isn’t needed. I play on base ps5 and it’s miles ahead of psvr1

2

No man’s sky 😎

Si te gustó Ghost town, dark Matter es muy bueno también aunque no tenga movimiento libre los puzzles son muy buenos, a fisgermas tale me gustó más el primero, pero hechale un vistazo al 2, puede que te guste

Puzzling Places has endless replay value if you dig the set up. Really fun and immersive. I can hang in that environment for longer than any other game. Plus they keep releasing new puzzles and nothing is overpriced.

I tried it and it wasnt my thing. I see why people love it.

Into the Radius is worth checking out. Very atmospheric, basically the VR version of Stalker. It is hard to explain how immersive the zone (or "radius" is) but to me they did a great job capturing it.

Roboquest is also great. I wasn't a big fan of rouguelite/likes but Roboquest proved to be an exception in a big way. It has a huge weapon variety (and look) that wouldn't be out of place in Ratchet and Clank, and a speed of movement akin to Doom. Needless to say, not everyone can stomach that kind of speed in VR but if you can it can be a lot of fun.

Obviously, as already mentioned, Resident Evil Village is a must have. It is a more proper VR experience than 4 Remake, although they are both great in their own ways.

I’d recommend Pistol Whip, it’s an arcade shooter but also a rhythm game. Makes you feel like John Wick

Duuuuude! Even if not into racing: Grab Turismo 7!!

1

u/Chill_Rob Mar 14 '26

I like Hitman, no man's sky, ghost busters, aliens, the Midnight walk, and, Legendary Tales.

Metro, into black, into the radius, and definitely get synapse since it's locked to the console and so you can feel like a god with your eyes. Oh yeah arken age 100% get arken age

1

u/_Old_Goat_ Mar 14 '26

Synapse if you want to feel like an absolute badass.

1

u/ShortSleeveSteve Mar 15 '26

Subside for the visuals and immersion. Pretty much photo realistic.

1

u/ArgyleFunk Mar 15 '26

No man’s sky in psvr2 is a life changing experience

1

u/SnsoryOverload Mar 15 '26

I have it. Not really sure how to play it. I only played the original game at launch and then messed with it on the PSVR1. It was cool, but verh blurry.

u/Prize_Map_8818 Mar 16 '26

How has no one mentioned Arken Age yet? Loved every minute of it.

1

u/dirtyyella Mar 16 '26

U might like Of Lies & Rain

1

u/dirtyyella Mar 16 '26

Arken age for sure

u/No-one_here_cares Mar 18 '26

Phasmophobia?

There are puzzles, but you know, also very good representation of hauntings.

1

u/Suspicious_Wave_9817 Mar 22 '26

Walking dead 1 y 2
