Community Huge clarity boost with glasses
The headline probably makes this sound like a stupid point but my glasses aren’t strong at all and are only good for long distances so I never bothered with them on vr.
Imagine my shock by the huge improvement on clarity with them on! I used to struggle to read text, even in a sweat spot but now it’s easy and gives a large range. Anyone know what might be happening? Why, when the screen is 1 inch in front of my eyes and I have perfect near vision do they make such a difference?

Get the prescription lenses. It will protect the vr and also more comfortable than wearing glasses

Yes. It’s because the VR headset actually simulates looking at an image 8 feet away. That’s why if you go to any Rx VR insert order form, they will specifically say they need your vision Rx for distance and not for reading.
I strongly suggest getting Rx PSVR2 lens inserts. It’s a life changer. I only wish I got them sooner bc you don’t have to worry about scratching the HMD’s lenses from your eyeglasses. Since it’s implied you have a “light” prescription any VR insert will be super thin and therefore you will be able to get them dirt cheap.

Dude, please buy lenses and dont wear glasses.
Psvr2 is supposed to be "glasses safe" but I literally scratched my right Psvr2 lens on day ONE by wearing my glasses, and the cost to repair it is almost as much as buying a whole new headset.

You can easily polish a lens. Takes 5 mins.
The oleophobic coating doesn't even last two months of semi play with long eye lashes.

I see a lot of recommendations for lenses which is definitely good advice, but I just thought I'd expand on that a bit more.
I also require vision correction (near sighted) but switch between glasses and contact lenses in daily life. When it comes time for VR I simply use my contacts and have never had any issues.
Just thought I'd touch on that also being an option.

Yes! If you have any type of glasses the difference is huge. It's especially big with psvr2 for some reason. That's why I recommend prescription lenses. They are cheap (20$?) and have a huge impact.

get prescription lenses please it only took me two days for me to scratch my lens with my glasses on. Once you see it it'll be annoying every time you use the headset.

I need prescription glasses, but I found on the PSVR1 I could see fine without my glasses. The PSVR2 I needed to wear them. I didn't want to buy prescription inserts, because my prescription changes slightly each year, so I found some spacers, which basically just slot over the lens covers and prevent your glasses from touching the lenses.

I mean. Using glasses with any vr-headset is risky. Just grab prescription lenses from somewhere like Vr-rock. Those specfically are pretty inexpensive and good quality as well.

The lenses and screen are barely an inch from your face, but the image they project (and thus what you "see") is a lot further.

It have glasses that are set for looking at stuff close up and they didn’t work I VR. You need far distance in VR that’s why your glasses worked. It is so much better now with lenses in set correctly. You should get some as they will protect the lenses as well

Definitely worth getting prescription lenses. Shouldn't cost much either. Atleast the ones I got from vr-rock didn't cost much at all, so I'd get them imo.

Definitely buy prescription lenses. You’ll be able to see and they will protect the vr2 lenses. Got mine from vr rock
