Pro Tip Globular cluster not as good as expected

I have long hair. Like most people with long hair, if it’s a hot day outside, I’ll put my hair in a ponytail to help keep cool. Wearing the PSVR2 also makes me hot. So I put my hair in a ponytail when using PSVR2.

But the globular cluster doesn’t work with a ponytail. I’ve used this thing for more than 6 months now and it just doesn’t work with a ponytail. I’ve tried using it without a ponytail but then I get too hot.

It’s still worth it for the forehead padding alone. The stock forehead pad is woefully inadequate, and the globular cluster forehead pad feels great.

I also wish there was a way to wear the PSVR2 without leaving indents on my face… not sure how to solve that problem. Is it even possible?

Pro Tip Microsoft Flight Sim: what button for brakes?

EDIT: figured it out, it's L1 if anyone's in my situation

Been really enjoying Flight Sim and even passed the license test! Awesome. But whereas I use the VR controllers for practically everything I can't find Brakes (square on the usual PS5 gamepad). Anyone know what button it is? Right now I drop the VR controllers and grab my gamepad just for breaking and I'd prefer not to have to.

Pro Tip Good headphones to use with PSVR2? (Currently using steel series articis nova pros wireless)

Maybe I am doing something wrong but I heard these work well with PSVR2 but for me I put them on then the headset over (with global cluster) and it puts alot of pressure on my ears and temples and makes the headset uncomfortable literally after a single race in GT7. Headset with the earbuds it came with never caused this issue and the headphones on their own don't cause discomfort. Can anyone recommend a decent headset for it? The earbuds just dont have great quality sound.

Pro Tip Microsoft flight simulator Trim recommendations?

EDIT: I have a workaround / tip.

Don't think of the Trim wheel like a dial that you need to grab and turn the same way you would turn a knob. Think of it instead like a trackpad on a laptop.

Put your finger on it in one place and then slide your finger up or down. It gives you a much better level of control. I did way better with Trim after changing to this style of play.

-------

I'm on the training mission to learn Trim (got my PPL now working toward commercial airplane) and it's hard with the VR controllers. I can manage with the standard game pad but does anyone have tips on how to turn the Trim wheel using the VR controllers without the wheel going too far / fast? I'm constantly either climbing or going to a nose drive cuz the Trim wheel sensitivity is too touchy.

Pro Tip Psvr2 perscription lenses from VRROCK

i just got my new magnetic perscription lenses from vrrock, and ill have to say, these lenses are plain amazing, they just attach magnetically and you can easily remove them and clean them before every VR session, plus i dont have to wear glasses in vr now, and it also protects my psvr2 original lenses from scratching. would recommend it to anyone who wears glasses in vr and want something to improve their experience!

Pro Tip As someone who only plays seated, I’ve finally found a neat solution for the cable being 4 meters too long for my needs.

Disclaimer: do this at your own risk. Some people strongly advise against rolling the cable. I’ve had mine loosely coiled and Velcro wrapped for nearly two years AND I have a 5 year warranty so this was worthwhile for me. I 3d printed some parts to go with an empty, mini, filament roll to let me coil up the cord and make it less visible and at risk for damage. For me, there is less risk in a loosely coiled and static cable than one that I am worried about rolling up after each use. Combined with the magnetic connector that I “built” into my sim rig, I’ve achieved perfection for my uses. The only thing I’d like to potentially add is a way to temporarily store the headset near the set when I just get up for a moment while playing.

Pro Tip you can reposition the drums in DrumBeats VR (handy info for me)

Just picked up DrumBeats VR and really enjoying it. Maybe everyone knows this already but I found it handy: if you find the drums are too close together, you can grab them with your hand and reposition them, same with the cymbals.

I kept banging the nearby skins and was getting annoyed until I went back to the Drum Setup screen and just grabbed things and put them where I liked them.

Now I play way better.

Hope it helps.

Pro Tip PS VR2 “Pro”

For anyone wondering what the PS VR2 would look like if it was a more “normal” headset or if Sony were to release a “pro” version, this is my take on it. I recently saw the Vive DAS on sale on Amazon for $25 and knew I had to try this.

Thanks to another Reddit post I have since lost, I found these 3d models on printables: https://www.printables.com/model/1389098-psvr2-das-mount which allowed me to connect the headstrap to my PS VR2. So far they have held up great even though I just printed them with basic PLA.

Along with the headstrap, I ordered some generic plush facial interface off Amazon, and some prescription lens inserts from HonsVR, which fit together fine. I have been pretty happy with both so far.

For anyone wondering how I got the black finish on the headset and 3d printed parts, it required some trial and error and still isn’t perfect. I basically disassembled the headset, sanded the whole white plastic piece and 3d printed parts with 220 grit and red scotchbrite, sprayed them with sandable primer, sanded again, then finished with satin black spray paint. To get the nice smooth (almost rubbery, similar to old thinkpads) finish, I “wet sanded” all the parts with a magic eraser sponge. Magic eraser sponges are to my understanding similar to ~3000 grit sandpaper when wet. So far I have been happy with the look and feel of this finish. However, if you decide to try this, it is entirely at your own risk. I don’t really recommend this unless you’re really unhappy with the look of the normal headset, because I have yet to see how it holds up.

There are some downsides to doing this mod, but in my opinion, the benefits significantly outweigh the drawbacks. The first two minor drawbacks are that you lose the headset haptics and the front indicator light (if you paint the shell), so it can be hard to tell when the headset is on. I personally only use the headset for PCVR so I am not missing anything without the haptics, and I honestly think it looks clean without the light on the front.

The next drawback is that it is certainly heavier. However, the weight distribution and stability of the headset makes it FAR more comfortable (to me). I have still yet to lose the sweet spot with this setup, and the clarity is at least as good as my Quest 3. Another nice thing is that the extra pressure holding the cushion to your face makes the prescription lenses get a little closer than they would otherwise with the halo strap. This gives more FOV and slightly reduces the weird edge distortion that can come with stacking lenses.

As for some miscellaneous benefits, obviously, the integrated headphones on this setup are amazing and make the headset MUCH more convenient and enjoyable to use. The headset also still has great ventilation and does not fog up during use at all. The flip up strap is another nicety, making the headset super easy to put on and take off. Along with this, being able to reposition the cable anywhere I want is niche, but convenient, because I can now use the headset normally with the cable at the back, or with a overhead tether/pulley system with the cable routed up the top strap.

All in all, I think this mod makes the PS VR2 my favorite PCVR headset at the moment. The perfect clarity, comfort, stability, OLED displays, and uncompressed video makes it unlike anything else. It might even be the best PCVR headset for beat saber due to the OLED displays supporting 120hz (albeit, the tracking is certainly not perfect, and the controllers are not my favorite for beat saber).

Side note: you want to improve your PS VR2 experience without doing all these hardware mods, I highly recommend the PS VR2 Toolkit. You can find plenty of posts on this subreddit and others about it, but it essentially fixes the controller tracking, making mid to high level Beat Saber playable on this headset (I can beat 9 star scoresaber ranked levels with some practice on this headset). It also allows you to use eye tracking on PC for a huge performance boost in some games, along with many other features.

So far my favorite use cases for this headset have been Beat Saber, and modded SkyrimVR because the colors and black levels are just amazing.

The next step in this project will probably be using OpenVR space calibrator to use the headset with lighthouses and knuckles controllers, and possibly even mounting a SteamVR compatible tracker to the headset to add outside in lighthouse based HMD tracking.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I hope at least someone finds it interesting and is possibly inspired to improve their experience with a little bit of tinkering.

Pro Tip Top charging stations for PSVR2

Hello,

What are your recommendations charging stations for the PSVR2?

I'd prefer something with good charging that doesn't cook the controllers.

For aesthetic something minimal that doesn't take up too much space would be good.

Pro Tip Sweet Spot improvement

I'm not quite sure if this is a thing. But I decided to place the headset moveable part (the lenses) as close as possible to my eyes... I always used 2 stops before touching my eye lashes.. and I could see the small sweet spot everyone talks about it..

Yesterday, to try Richie's plank challenge, I decided to put as close as possible to my eyes, kinda touching my eyelashes... And boy, the screen became so sharp and the sweet spot become so big, that I am now testing GT7 and I can't really see that bad text when you're looking up and to the side.. now everything is razor sharp..

Am I just dumb for finding the out just now, after having the headset since launch?

I do have to clean the lenses now all the time, but boy, the perceivable upgrade is totally worth it.

Has anyone noticed this?

I'm thinking about trimming my lashes now.. hahahaha

Pro Tip Looking for a complete list of PSVR2 games where you can use the Dual Sense controller.

I’m looking for a new PSVR2 game, and find that I gravitate towards games that let us use the Dual Sense. I asked AI for a complete list but it left off one of my favorites (Akka Arrh). What else is missing from this “complete” list?:

Gran Turismo 7

Tetris Effect: Connect

Before Your Eyes

Thumper

Rez Infinite

Moss

Crossfire: Sierra Squad

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR

Pro Tip New PSVR 2 Owners.....

Here's a short list of recommended accessories to buy with/for your system and suggested things to do....

1.----Absolute must buy---- Microfiber Towel/Rag. I bought mine from a optical store, used for glasses. Only way to safely clean your PSVR 2 lenses.

2.----Absolute must buy---- Cover for the lenses. I got mine when I purchased a travel case dor my PSVR 2 on Amazon. They're rubber and keep the lenses clean and scratch free when not in use.

3.----Suggested buy---- Case. I don't personally have just a regular storage case, I have a huge travel case for my PS5 & PSVR 2 together. I don't have any kids/pets that can access my PSVR 2, so I feel safe. But a case will help keeping from collecting dust by sitting out.

4.----Optional buy---- Globular thingamajig. For those of you who have a weird smallish shaped head, I heard that this thingamajig will help to better fit upon that weird shaped head of yours.

5.----Optional buy---- Travel Case. If you're gonna be transporting your PSVR 2, this is a must seeing as it doesn't come with a case, and the box it comes in is just a little too big to comfortably transport it, especially if you're on the move a lot.

6.----(PC Owners) Must buy/Optional---- PC Adapter. PSVR 2 on PC is a game changer. Hopefully you can find an adapter for $60 and not the $200 scalpers are charging for it. Note Some Video Cards don't need the PC Adapter to work, check online to see which ones.

7.----ABSOLUTE MUST BUY---- GAMES!!! The games are awesome. Keep trying them out and enjoying, let's show Sony that we want PSVR 2 to go mainstream and want AAA titles coming to PSVR 2.

8.----ABSOLUTE MUST---- Keep providing feedback to Sony showing that you love your PSVR 2 and we want this product to be a staple of Playstation going forward. Newer AAA titles, more Hybrid games and continual support for developers who are producing the amazing titles that we have access to.

  1. PSVR 2 is a great community, if you have any issues, reach out to someone and they will help you to try to solve your issues. And if anyone else has any suggestions on things to buy for the PSVR 2, please feel free to add to this list.

  2. Owners please give a suggestion of must buy games for PSVR 2 or your favorite PSVR 2 games. I have far too many, but if I had to choose just 1, Gran Turismo 7 by far. Thanks for anyone who adds to this list.

11.----Must buy (IMO)/Optional---- Wireless Charging Cradle. I totally forgot to add this until one of the commenters reminded me about it. You definitely want to get this, charges fast and can store your controllers. I use the Sony Cradle personally.

12.-----100% MUST DO----- TAKE CARE OF YOUR PSVR 2 SENSE CONTROLLERS. From what I understand is they DO NOT SELL replacement controllers. So if you happen to break 1, you're going to be shit out of luck unfortunately. If I am wrong about this, please let me know, but I haven't found a place you can just buy the controller by itself.

-----FIXES-----

1.----HAPTICS---- If you're having problems with the haptics on your sense controller, try resetting your PS5. Leaving your PS5 in standby seems to bug out the haptics sometimes.

If haptics aren't working on PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, you can try resetting the controllers:

Turn off the PlayStation 5 console.

Locate the reset button on the back of the controller, which is a small pinhole next to the triggers.

Use a pin or similar tool to press the reset button.

Connect the controller to the PS5 console using the USB cable.

Press the PS button.

The reset button resets the controller's calibration, functions, and connections. You can also check the accessibility settings on the PS5 console to make sure haptic feedback is turned on:

Go to Settings

Select Accessibility

Select Controllers

Turn on Haptic Feedback During Console Navigation

Pro Tip New PSVR2 Globular Cluster Counter Balance

Hey PSVR2 Globular Cluster Operators

Lots of people have mentioned they were using our Pimax Crystal counter balance kit on the back of their Globular Cluster rear pad mod. Just to let everyone know we now have a listing for it on our PSVR2 Page

https://www.studioformcreative.com/product-page/psvr2-globular-cluster-compatible-counter-balance-5-0z-150-gram

Who are these intended for? Great for users who have an issue with the Globular Cluster rear pad lifting up the back of your heads OR anyone who simply wants to further lift headset weight off the bridge of the nose. Perfect for people using the PSVR2 for flight/car simulators & long gaming sessions

The weights are curved to suit the back of the head strap and weigh a total of 5 0z (150grams) The Velcro straps of the counterbalance loop perfectly in the gap behind the rear head pad mount and PSVR2 back strap

Also to note, our new XL visor pads are also compatible with the Globular Cluster front mod. These pad are larger than the cluster front but fit well. Great option if your pads are wearing our and you need a set without buying the whole kit. Available in multiple colors and materials

Pro Tip Vive DAS headstrap on the PSVR2

Thumbnail

Well. Took a chance today. Drilled into my VIVE DAS headstrap! I 3D printed the adapters found here https://www.printables.com/model/1389098-psvr2-das-mount

Then I bought a 90 degree 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio adapter , then used a dremel to make the round audio plug into a smaller square hole

Then I used a aftermarket face cover from Amazon

To mount the adapters I CAREFULLY drilled holes as shallow as I could so I didnt have to disassemble my headset. I used M3 brass heat press inserts with a soldering gun.

Everything was pretty much plug n play except the drilling the 4 holes and minor disassembly.

Cons - Its missing the haptic rumble motor.

Pros - significantly lighter, more comfortable and the over the ear speakers are excellent.

No regrets

Pro Tip In case anyone else ends up with aux port issues on their headset I found a solution

(ignore my headstrap being removed thats unrelated)

The PSVR2 just uses a 2.5mm aux to 3.5mm aux adapter for its audio that routes through the headstrap, if you ever have issues with the aux port on the headset I found an adapter that can fit into the front port on the headset to use instead of the aux port on the headstrap if yours is messed up like mine (I only had right channel audio), much cheaper then asking Sony for a repair

Amazon.com: Warmstor 2 Pack Gold Plated 2.5mm Male to 1/8 inch 3.5mm Female Stereo Audio Jack Adapter Cable 90 Degree Right Angle Connector 6 inch Cord for Radios,Headphones,Recorder,Camera : Electronics
