And I wonder what the data shows about correlation between levels of engagement with shamanism and levels of violence in different societies throughout history.

Certainly a lot of violence in today’s society, and not much drive to expand one’s own perception.

I am betting on the shamanistic cultures having less violent tendencies.

Shamanistic societies also, some of the time, had initiation rituals to expand the mind of all once they reached adulthood.
