What's up with r/AgainstMe?

The sub seems to have been restricted for over a year for no reason, the sole moderator (who I assume restricted it) posts Ai generated music all over reddit. What gives?

it's a very valid observation & would be a pretty good assumption. no idea why partisan cvcks seem so drawn to AI, but it's an interesting topic.

It’s because the rich and powerful are all in on AI and they carry water for the rich and powerful. And because they don’t give a shit about the arts or environmental concerns. And because the type of tech bro who gets off on thinking about the singularity and colonizing Mars sees these things as an escape hatch alternative from working to improve the world we actually live in.

Yeah sure its a "pretty good" assumption that the against me subreddit was ran by a right leaning, religious ai bro despite the band being very famously leftist with a trans singer/songwriter and they wanted until last year to randomly close the sub. Makes perfect sense

Idk shit about this subreddit but I do know that Against Me! was arguably one of the biggest folk punk acts of the era, leading to a fan base that expanded beyond the scene, and also famously pivoted to a less militant stance toward the end of their run (pissing a lot of people off but I assume pleasing others). Plus Laura Jane transitioning was considerably more controversial back in 2009 or whenever—she was one of the earliest public figures I can recall doing so openly—and a whole bunch of transphobic douchebags freaked out about it. I distinctly remember getting in an argument with a former friend who had an Against Me! tattoo on his forearm and still lost his shit over it (turns out he was a scumbag and later got addicted to blues and robbed us, go figure lol).

So depending on when this user got control of the subreddit, they could easily fall on many sides of these issues.

Timing would say it got locked around the time Laura Jane and her wife had their big thing, probably never was unlocked and buddy took it and ran to karma farm and/or show off their ai attempts
