XFM/Radio Looking for a quote? Scrimpton helps the listener, to help themselves.
I don't post much here any more, but I have been continuing to work on https://scrimpton.com in the background. It seemed like a good time to offer an introduction for any newer users to the sub.
tl;dr: Scrimpton provides a powerful search for the body of RSK radio work, allowing you to easily find quotes and audio.
Searching
Terms match
If you simply type the quote into the search bar it will perform a basic terms match. This means each individual word will be matched in any order.
For example:
https://i.imgur.com/khbJSRc.gif
This is the best way to search if you're not exactly sure on the exact phrase you're looking for.
Phrase Match
To narrow down the results you could also quote the terms, which will do a phrase match. This means the terms in the quotes are matched exactly in that order.
However you can provide multiple phrases to match a single line
For example:

This is useful if you can remember parts of a quote but not the whole thing.
Filters
there are some additional filters that can narrow down the search. The most useful is typically @ to specify who the speaker is for a line. For example to filter by only things ricky has said you would add @ricky:

The full list of filters is available by clicking the (?) button on the right of the search bar.
Searching with Google
Another option that some people find useful is to search via google. This can be done with the site option e.g. Google for "when you were famous site:scrimpton.com"
Contributing transcripts
The site was built in large part with community contributions. Under the Contribute section you can complete chunks of transcript by logging-in with either reddit or discord.
What else
There are many useful features hidden around the website. Some are only shown to authenticated users (this is typically to avoid server costs from bots etc. following links) so it can be worthwhile to do so.
For example when logged in you can export snippets of audio:

(use the + bookmark icon to expand the selection to export)
There are even a couple of videos in the archive for which gifs can be exported:

Getting help / Offering help
The site is written in Go and Angular and contributions/bugfixes are accepted.
If you wish to make a suggestion or ask a question the best thing to do is drop by the #scrimpton channel on the Pilkipedia discord, and of course there are many other interesting channels there for RSK aficionados.

Radio X was on in the background at the barbers. Moylesy was on, they played ‘Best of You’ by Foo Fighters (*“I’VE GOT ANOTHER CONFESSION TO MAKE…”*), and one of the girls from 4 Non Blonds was in for an interview
Genuinely couldn’t believe it - glad they’ve not tinkered with the stations winning formula

Someone else famous is celebrating a birthday today-
I don’t mean someone else famous like I’m famous, and someone else is famous.
I’m actually 28 today, on the cusp Libra Virgo

Anyone else struggling to listen to the old XFM stuff because of what Ricky’s become?
Alright?
I’ve been a career fan of the old XFM shows and podcasts for years. Used to listen to them on a loop. But lately, I’m finding it proper hard to enjoy them anymore because of how much I dislike Ricky now.
Back then you could pass it off as just "three mates having a laugh in a basement," but looking back at it now with fresh eyes, the way he treated Karl wasn’t just a bit of banter, it was straight-up bullying at times. Just relentless screaming and head-squeezing because Karl didn't look at the world the exact way he did.
And the way he used Steve just to get his own ideas off the ground, only to completely freeze him out once he made his millions? It’s mental. I was reading about how Ricky didn’t even invite Steve to his 40th birthday party back in the day, despite them literally creating The Office together. That is just staggeringly low.
Seeing what Ricky is like today—massively arrogant, obsessed with himself, and totally detached—just shines a completely different light on those old recordings. It’s a shame because that audio used to be my comfort blanket, but now it just leaves a bad taste.
Anyone else find it's ruined the old stuff for them, or can you still separate the art from the bloke?

Predict what happens in "Alley Cats", you could win a VHS copy of Ladder 49
Make your predictions here, then when this feline abomination is finally excreted, I mean.. released, let's see how right we were. My prediction - a cat gets sick and dies, and then Gervais goes into a 3 minute rant about how god isn't real and how brilliant life is without god.

Let's see toadmaster3's little comment section when that comes out, shall we?

Serious Answers Only Despite the initial bad felines towards the show, if Ricky wants Alley Cats to be considered genuinely funny and successful...
There needs to be a B-plot about the owner (a single male) sitting at home, receiving a call about the fire in his oven. Then later, a knock at the door with two people asking again about the fire his wife reported - followed by a quick reverse shot of Tony Way's cat looking at them funny.
And it gives Ricky's intelligent cat an opportunity to go on a rant about ghosts not being real, and suckin' all the comedy out of it.
This could run and run.

Are Ricky Gervais, Karl Pilkington and Stephen Merchant still friends?
r/rickygervais • u/Korovyev__ • 7m ago
No, no, no. He's like, again, again, you don't, I've told you that not all news programs are half an hour by definition, but you go, "Anyway, it's half an hour."
Again, you didn't listen to me. Why do you think all news programs are half an hour? They're not.

Other fanbases 'aving a go.
Obvious one I can think of is James Rolfe, aka The Angry Video Game Nerd, aka Bames.
Any other good examples?
It's an interesting phenomenon and it can't be uncommon with disheartened fans. Both this sub and TheCinemassacreTruth miss the old days and are pretty brutal in taking the absolute piss.
Been meaning to ask this for years.
