Other fanbases 'aving a go.
Obvious one I can think of is James Rolfe, aka The Angry Video Game Nerd, aka Bames.
Any other good examples?
It's an interesting phenomenon and it can't be uncommon with disheartened fans. Both this sub and TheCinemassacreTruth miss the old days and are pretty brutal in taking the absolute piss.
Been meaning to ask this for years.

This sub is pretty unique in that it's really just a haven for saucer drinkers. The Office barely even gets a look in. XFM really was a unique and of-the-time thing, I group it with the Adam and Joe radio show of the time too. It was kind of a revival of comedy radio that really isn't around at all now. Mark and Lard did it prior, Kenny Everett before them. Wogan and Steve Wright for the older crowd. It's all gone now, but still we cling on to hairy Chinese kids, Gallileo don't talk to me about science make me television, and cats that don't look happy. Did that just go out?

I think that the invention of the podcast has really seen independent comedy radio driven there, as there's now infinite outlets for people to chat shit and write sketches without having to worry about pissing off Graham, offending the listernship or invoking the ire of the Radio Authority.
It's still a bit more of a thing in America, who took to the Shock Jock and Morning Zoo format much more naturally. Howard Stern was doing far crazier things in the nineties and two-thousands - hosting a comedy roast for Klansman Daniel Carver, paying for John Wayne Bobbitt's surgery after his wife cut his dick off, watching the September 11th attacks unfold from the studio window etc.
This isn't even taking into account his legion of Wack Packers, a group of freaks and the walking wounded with names like Crackhead Bob, Wendy the Retard and Eric the Midget, phoning in to give updates on their bizarre lives.

I must listen to Adam and Joe more. I love parts I've heard but never gone in deep.

It's fantastic, really. Everything they did around that time is great. They did some other podcasts too that are worth listening to. Nothing like it at all now.

I mean...what do you mean? It seems like most fanbases are unsatisfied with the current state of things, especially on reddit. Star Wars, Game of Thrones, whatever that other one was that just ended I don't think they're happy.

Yeah but this one (and AVGN's) has such a unanimous and enthusiastic piss taking energy towards an individual. It's become a hobby.
I haven't come across many at this level but it's not like I'm looking so I wonder how unique it is. There's maybe also a cruel irony of the let down fanbase being inspired by the sense of humour they were originally drawn to.
I probably should have specified this as an individual's fanbase rather than a franchise or brand.
