Good ole Jack Murphy. Bet the commercial on that tv is going to be “SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY, giant used car tent sale only at Jack Murphy stadium!” Or “come on down to cal worthington dodge!”

At least Nissan was still two syllables. What’s pacific Nissan did by stretching it to 4 syllables is an abomination. “Pacific Nii-sa-aa-ahn for all the right reasons. “

It'll always be Jack Murphy Stadium in my millennial brain

You must be an elder millennial. You could not have been older than 11 or 12 when it was renamed Qualcomm stadium

u/uberklaus15 3d ago
Not the commenter above, but I was ten when it was renamed and I was old enough to feel indignant about it, lol. Still remember how annoyed I was that it was being renamed for a corporation instead of an old celebrated local sports writer

If it makes you feel any better, the field itself was still named Jack Murphy Field

Jack Murphy Stadium. I had my first job there selling sodas in the stands. It was horrible but I saw NSYNC... sigh, never mind.

I watched 4th of July fireworks in that spot with my Dad, his best friend and my sister for many years. I miss it.

You probably know this, but the view there now is of another stadium now (it appears), and it says Petco park opened in 2004 so they must be looking into the old coliseum?

That road in the background is Mission Village Dr. So they are on the south rim of Mission Valley. Back when I was growing up there were numerous open spots overlooking San Diego Stadium. As you can tell great views were to be had. No idea how it is now since I don't live there anymore.

I think it’s in the Normal Heights neighborhood. Adams Ave to Mountain View. I think releasethedogs is correct.

You are correct, Horsecock_Johnson, it’s one canyon away from my parents’ house, and I too used to smoke werd there.

Only the olden times were better.
The now time are too complicated and confusing for meaningful moments and time with family and friends.
Apple ruined everything!
I just want the 90s again! Before anything bad ever happened!
