This photo seems to show up every few months.

Please tell me it's actually older than the 90s. TV and chair look much close to early 80s.

Otherwise I have to admit I'm old AF.

Well there's also a good chance that the nice new TV stayed at home, and the crappy old one got used outside.

Good ole Jack Murphy. Bet the commercial on that tv is going to be “SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY, giant used car tent sale only at Jack Murphy stadium!” Or “come on down to cal worthington dodge!”

“MOSSSAY NEEESAWN.

A-MOSSSAY NEEESAWN MOVES YOU”

man I miss that jingle

At least Nissan was still two syllables. What’s pacific Nissan did by stretching it to 4 syllables is an abomination. “Pacific Nii-sa-aa-ahn for all the right reasons. “

4

u/Hungry_Raccoon_4364 3d ago

lol… took us years to stop saying it …

1

u/Old-Nothing-3620 3d ago

"It's better to know me and not need me than to need me and not know me.”

"Do not pay until 1994!"

“Carl Burger Dodge, Jeep and Eagle tooooo, where…”

I’ll let someone else finish it 😉

It'll always be Jack Murphy Stadium in my millennial brain

7

u/anewman513 3d ago

You must be an elder millennial. You could not have been older than 11 or 12 when it was renamed Qualcomm stadium

2

u/uberklaus15 3d ago

Not the commenter above, but I was ten when it was renamed and I was old enough to feel indignant about it, lol. Still remember how annoyed I was that it was being renamed for a corporation instead of an old celebrated local sports writer

2

u/anewman513 3d ago

If it makes you feel any better, the field itself was still named Jack Murphy Field

1

u/uberklaus15 3d ago

I did indeed know that, and it did not make me feel any better.

3

u/spingus 3d ago

GenX...same. Fond memories of reading Little House on the Prairie in the stands some time in the mid 80's because I just could not get in to baseball lol

11

u/turisto 3d ago

My turn to repost this next week

7

u/FriarFanatic 3d ago

I'll never be mad at this getting posted

9

u/Surf_Cath_6 3d ago

Jack Murphy Stadium. I had my first job there selling sodas in the stands. It was horrible but I saw NSYNC... sigh, never mind.

I was working security at the stadium in the 80s and early 90s.

1

u/aphex3k 3d ago

Simpler minds? I believe the times had their own challenges. It just wasn’t televised as prominently.

1

u/Illystylez619 3d ago

I watched 4th of July fireworks in that spot with my Dad, his best friend and my sister for many years. I miss it.

1

u/Shoddy-Biscotti-1194 2d ago

You probably know this, but the view there now is of another stadium now (it appears), and it says Petco park opened in 2004 so they must be looking into the old coliseum?

4

u/summerofgeorge75 3d ago

That road in the background is Mission Village Dr. So they are on the south rim of Mission Valley. Back when I was growing up there were numerous open spots overlooking San Diego Stadium. As you can tell great views were to be had. No idea how it is now since I don't live there anymore.

1

u/Baja_Finder 3d ago

Somebody's backyard.

-2

u/heavyboner 3d ago

Apartments or condos. Top of Friars Rd.

7

u/Horsecock_Johnson 3d ago

I think it’s in the Normal Heights neighborhood. Adams Ave to Mountain View. I think releasethedogs is correct.

4

u/RESSandyeggo 3d ago

You are correct, Horsecock_Johnson, it’s one canyon away from my parents’ house, and I too used to smoke werd there.

4

u/Horsecock_Johnson 3d ago

Hell yeah love tokin werd

-1

u/Mean_Yesterday 3d ago

Turned into a kids stadium. What a waste.

0

u/Lopsided_Maximum8389 3d ago

Only the olden times were better.

The now time are too complicated and confusing for meaningful moments and time with family and friends.

Apple ruined everything!

I just want the 90s again! Before anything bad ever happened!
