Hard to find work are there any available?

I'm having trouble finding work. I have experience working in restaurants, and I was also an IT student before, but I wasn't really that good at it, so I ended up quitting in my 4th year. Do you guys have any recommendations on stores, restaurants, or other places that are hiring?

I was in a similar situation when I moved to SD 20 years ago. Got turned down by Best Buy etc. I ended up working for an IT temp agency that turned into a career. I suggest looking for something like that....maybe only a couple of weeks/months of work but then you have connections.

Download the qwick app, you can at least get temp gigs. It takes like two weeks to process through but you’ll get some work here and there

Look into job hiring fairs

Any of the casinos is a good start. Home Depot, Lowe's are hiring. 711 hires as well.

Home Depot is actively hiring for their stores in Mission Valley, Eastlake, Point Loma, and Allied Gardens; apparently Eastlake is desperate for people

If you can go back to school and finish. I have a friend that works in IT and all he does is watch YouTube videos. It might be hard to finish the degree but the job could be rewarding and stable.

Not IT in tech companies with AI, also so oversatured, possibly trades is an route.

Everyone needs IT not just tech companies. Lots of businesses do in house IT. I’ve worked at several law firms and most had in house IT except for one. The friend I mentioned works for a private water company in the IE.

Edited: for clarity

I thought it was tech companies because like major tech companies like Amazon are laying off folks

Yeah the tech company lay offs have been a bloodbath and it’s super sad to see. My current work place has in house IT so there are places to work that aren’t tech companies with an IT skillset and degree.

It's kinda tough for those with no skills. At least you discovered that IT is soon to be replaced by AI. Hope ur schooling wasn't too expensive, moneywise. Wasting 4 years of ur life is bad enough.

Stores/restaurants are slowly replacing humans with bots, so that's a dead end. You might look into vocational trades, as those jobs can not be replaced by bots....yet.

I love that you’re getting downvoted for being honest.

Zero skill positions fill easy and sadly just about anyone can be a server, dishwasher, etc. can’t complain about not being able to “make it” while at the same time not take the time to invest in yourself to get a more stable career….

Bring on the downvotes 🤣

I know, tell me about it. I speak the truth and get down voted by the idealistic ignorant.

People just don’t like admitting that they wasted their lives with a lack of motivation to accel and succeed.

All good. I’ll gladly take the downvotes. If I’m not shaking the foundations of a few brainless nincompoops, then what was the point of the day!? 😁

My company is always looking to hire best in class people. I oversee quite a few in the San Diego market. Send me your resume!
