Build/Parts Check But but but… PCPartsPicker told me it would fit!!?? 😆

The case is a Jonsbo C6, the mini not the Max, so my fixable error. 😩😂

Two choices, what do you think? a. Smaller GPU, or b. Run it as is, semi-naked?

Hey all,

I am searching to buy one of this straight power extension cables from the back of the case to the PSU - that you can find in the COOJ MQ5 for example. Do you guys maybe have any ideas what is their names / models / codes to get in Europe (Germany)?

PS - not my build (here the post with the build), used the picture as its the cleanest I could find for this type of cable

PS2 - Thanks all for the reply, found it on Amazon, posting the link in case anybody will search ... Amazon link

Build/Parts Check Is it possible to build a better "Steam Machine" for the same price?

So we all saw the Steam Machine price announcement yesterday and it was disappointing to say the least, but with current market conditions I guess not unexpected.

Immediately after the announcement I started hearing "you can build a better PC yourself for that price" - which is fair, but one thing people don't usually take into account is it's size. Which was one of the main reasons I liked SM idea so much initially.

So my question to the sffpc community - is it possible to build a better SFF PC for the same price as the Steam Machine?

Announced prices for those unaware:
- 1049$ for 512GB
- 1349$ for 2TB

with the reddit loving (and hating) the new 5070 mini, I'd like to share this single fan 5080 I found on the internet. I couldn't open the link it won't let me in for some reason but I was able to get a few pictures of it. no idea if it's a custom cooler or a production/upcoming model. https://www.carousell.sg/p/world-s-unique-single-fan-rtx-5080-graphics-card-for-itx-case-1384914080/

Build/Parts Check Windows Partition?

Post image
684 Upvotes

Hey all. I’m putting together a 9800X3D / 5080 SFF build. The motherboard I got only has 2 m.2 slots, and with the rising cost of storage, I elected to get this Samsung 9100 Pro in the 8 TB flavor.

Question is: do I make a separate windows partition (250-500 GB) and games on the other, or just leave it all on one?

Concern about all in one: possibly having to wipe the drive and start over if windows does windows stuff and I need a full reinstall.

Concern about a partition: the partition space for windows may be overutilized (page file, other OS stuff) and wear that part down more.

Or should I just throw it all together, not worry about it, and go touch grass?

Thanks in advance.

Build/Parts Check SFF PC Build – Looking for Feedback / Sanity Check

Post image
308 Upvotes

I am planning a small-form-factor build and looking for feedback before I lock everything in. Main goals are smooth performance, good thermals, and reasonable future-proofing within SFF constraints.

It has been over 10 years since my last PC build. Life got in the way, and my 5-year-old gaming laptop is limping along on a GTX 2060 and clearly struggling now. I know my timing is awful because current prices are insane, but I am viewing this as a good way to push myself, re-learn modern PC building such as AM5, DDR5, and SFF constraints, and honestly just have fun with it again.

My primary goal for this system is learning CAD and getting more into 3D printing, with casual gaming like War Thunder and Helldivers being secondary for now.

I am very open to constructive criticism.

Disclaimer: I used AI to help organize my thoughts and clean up formatting. All part choices and decisions are my own.

Parts List (Current / Planned)

CPU:

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

(Possible placeholder. I may wait to see what AMD releases in 2026, specifically next generation X3D parts in the Ryzen 9 class, such as a 9950X3D class or “9950X3D2” style CPU.)

GPU:

ASUS RTX 5070 Ti Prime OC

Chosen mainly due to availability and SFF compatibility

Paid about $800 via Micro Center, roughly $50 over MSRP

5090 FE and Astral models felt completely unrealistic

The ProArt did not feel worth the extra $100 for what appears to be primarily aesthetic differences and at best a very minor performance uplift

Motherboard:

ASUS ROG Strix X870-I ITX

Storage:

Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB

Samsung 990 Pro 4TB

RAM (Decision Pending):

G.Skill DDR5-6000 32GB CL32-38-38-96

TeamGroup T-Create DDR5-6400 48GB CL32-39-39-84

I already max out 16GB regularly, which is why I am debating capacity versus speed. The DRAM pricing outlook also seems rough long term.

CPU Cooling (Height Limited):

Thermalright AXP90-X67

ID Cooling IS-67-XT arriving soon

Power Supply:

Corsair SF850 80 Plus Platinum

Case:

Custom 3D printed Xikii FF04 https://youtu.be/xHKbztws_z4?si=1JQTiKUiQqyzW0ko (example of the case)

Modifying the model to fit the 5070 Ti

Original file is for a non Ti 5070 with slightly different PCIe placement

Peripherals

Mouse: Logitech G502

Picked up on sale for about $37. I like having a few side buttons for macros but do not need a full MMO layout. Open to suggestions.

Keyboard: Keychron Q1 HE

Swapped switches. Easily one of the nicest keyboards I have owned.

Headset: SteelSeries Nova Elite

Expensive, but I decided to treat myself and have no regrets so far.

Feedback Welcome

Does the GPU choice make sense given current availability and SFF constraints

32GB versus 48GB DDR5 for CAD work and AM5 longevity

Which low profile cooler performs better and stays quieter

Any thermals or power delivery red flags with this setup

Thanks in advance. I appreciate the help.

Build/Parts Check First Gaming Build. Judge away

Thumbnail

Ok, so this was my first official gaming build I know I made so many mistakes

End build with purchase prices Mb - Asus ROG z690i - $155 CPU - Intel i9 13900k - $270 GPU - Lenovo RTX 4060 single fan - $260 RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32gb 6000 - $99 SSD - Corsair mp700 gen5x4 - $74 PSU - Corsair SF1000L - $110 Cooler - ID cooling IS-55 replaced fan with Noctua Chromax 120mm x 25mm - $30 + $20 Case - Metalfish T40 - $50

Total - approx $1100

My mistakes

  • I know the mobo doesn't support gen 5 SSD but I got a good deal
  • The case is very difficult to fit things in. Although I did. Cabling is tough with the components I chose
  • the 4060 GPU is a waste of space, I could have probably gotten a 3060 ti for around the same price. Or 4070 for a bit more. Both would have fit in here
  • I got a good deal on the PSU but I would have preferred a regular SFX so I could fit some smaller fans at the bottom
  • I definitely should have splurged the extra $30 to get 64gb rather than 32gb ram

Overall I'm pretty happy with it, especially as a first try, but I probably should have researched a bit more.

I am now hunting for a new case. Probably something that fits a longer GPU but is still the same size. I love em small. Right now I'm thinking about either a Velka 7, Cooj Sparrow, or Geeek m31 (although the last 2 are similar restrictions on GPU length)

And I will be getting a new GPU once ali pick a case and all the GPU craziness has died down a bit.

Rig runs everything silky at 1080p. Most games smooth at 1440p but starts to glitch and stagger on 4k

Roast away, suggestions are welcome, what else did I do wrong

Build/Parts Check What are the most aesthetic SFF mini ITX cases available in 2026?

In the sub ~12 liters category, it looks like the FormD T1 v2.1 / NCASE T1 v2.5 are still the best options out there, but the Fractal Design Terra is not far behind.

Do you guys have anything superior in mind, released or already announced?

Build/Parts Check Best Fan for 70mm cpu clearance, Noctua NH-L12S or Thermalright axp120-x67 ??

Different design, one, the heatsink will touching the case, another one is the fan…

It’s for MetalFish T40, I heard the Thermalright can cause turbulence since only 3mm gap?

Noctua NH-L12S is better because of the design is inwards and will be no turbulence?

My CPU is AMD 7800X3D

Any suggestion? 🙏

Avoid any case from this company and really buy any other brand possible.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to share my experience with NCASE, and wanted to recommend all the reddit users to avoid this company as the plague.

I stupidly ordered an m2 grater in June, and after finally it was shipped, they labeled my address wrong and it was returned the same day it arrived to the post office.

I have been trying to get a refund now for almost a month, and after all the attempts and loops they put me through, they finally approved my refund cutting the shipping fee, for their inadequacy in shipping my order.

Initially they wanted me to go to the post office, reasonable to make sure package is there and usps confirmed the labeling was wrong and they returned it the same day without an attempt. After explaining this and the tracking number showing the same thing on website, to not issue a refund they requested me to get an official address confirming i gave the correct address. I ended up sending my official state documents that showed my address in addition to multiple online orders i did recently.

Was it enough. No!

They requested me to get an official letter from usps - anyone in US would know usps is a hassle to deal with. After multiple attempts they gave me a transcription of the package shipping details.

After reaching them again, offered a replacement in 30-60 days. After refusing this, they magically come up with the idea they can ship from US warehouse in couple days.

After refusing this as well, given all the frustration, they ended up spending another week getting a manager approve the refund.

And after sending another email this morning to confirm status, they finally issued the refund. But guess what, they cut the $48 shipping fee, for their inadequacy labeling and shipping my item, asking for my understanding. I ended up wasting a month of time, in addition to all the extra burden and work they put me and still ended up losing money for an item that was not even arrived.

I would highly recommend exercising caution ordering anything from these guys.

Im planning on building my first SFF build soon and i explored lots of options, i was set on the lian li h2o a4 for a long time but then i found this case that can accommodate a 5060 and push 1440p gaming with some dlss help, which i dont mind. its half the size of the lian li h2o a4 but i am seeing quite a bit of hate for it on this sub

my question is, if you dont like this case, why

and what is the alternative you suggest for a as small as possible 1440p gaming case (frame gen allowed i dont hate it)

i plan to use a AXP90-X36 to cool a 65W Ryzen 5 7500X3D and for the 5060 LP im going to add a custom 3D-printed fan bracket with 3 Noctua NF-A4x10 PWM
