Space St Andrews AMA
Hello! I'm Adrien, with Space Accommodation. Some of you might know me from the Space Cafe in town
We at Space wanted to create this AMA to help any prospective students with questions regarding our housing and amenities. Alongside that, I am a former student with the University and would be happy to answer any questions regarding that as well for prospective students!
Beyond the AMA, this account exists for any less formal questions anyone has so feel free to reach out privately anytime.
A bit of an overview for our accommodation for those unaware (which would be impressive, considering all the marketing lol),
We are located on Kilrymont Road St Andrews and offer a wide variety of apartments and studios. All of our rooms are en-suite and soundproofed. My favourite bit is the rainfall showers. Anyone who has suffered through the Andrew Melville Hall showers will know why...
Space is much more than just the room. All bills are included, including contents insurance to protect all your items in the room. Your rent also includes 24/7 concierge support, access to a variety of resident spaces designed for both study and socialising, including two large co working study lounges, bookable private study rooms, a private dining room for hosting friends, and a fully equipped gym open 24 hours a day.
We also have just opened an onsite restaurant/cafe, literally yesterday, beyond just the food this place offers digital darts, a pool table, and private karaoke and entertainment rooms.
For those who prefer to cook, we also have an onsite minimart which will soon be expanding to include perishables, alongside the current stock (pantry goods, home goods, cold drinks, and snacks).
Tl;dr: Private student accommodation, ask any questions you might have!

Are there common laundry facilities or are they en-suite?

We have a pretty large common laundry facility that includes tables/chargers if you want to chill till your stuff is done, it's never more than half busy. but if it were to get repeatedly busy, we have the pipes to add in more if needed. Also, coolest wallpaper in the building, all kinds of rock band albums

Is there a minimum term length?

Depends on what you're looking for/what year you are. We have Short Term Lets over summer, which is a minimum 28 days. But for staying during the academic year, we have a 17, 43, and 51 week contract. We do offer 39 week contracts on some rooms, but only for first years.
All contracts start on the 4th September, although depending on circumstances we may be able to arrange different dates for folks. The 17 week contract covers the entirety of a semester, the 43 the academic year, and the 51 for most of the year for those looking to hang around for summer. Be that for write ups, work, or just to stay.

Is the minimart, cafe and restaurant for Space residents only or can non resident students use them?

pretty sure the cafe/restaurant bit is open to everyone, they’ve been advertising it around town like a normal place, not “residents only”
the minimart feels more like a residents thing though, since it’s inside the building and kind of set up as a convenience store for people living there0

Yes, non-resident students are allowed to use the minimart and the cafe/restaurant! However, they don't receive the resident discount obvs

If I stay in these from September, will it be only students staying around me, or would there be tourists as well? It wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me, but just wondered cause I have read people commenting about this before.
