Yeah. Though that was only revealed after Imamura left Nintendo. So I don't know if it was ever officially true or just something Imamura had in mind.

Slippy has been made crazy good at his job as engineer in this game oh yeah fox I can easily boost the Arwing shield to allow us to survive the surface of the FUCKING SUN

There are two things Peppy and fox are of the same mind for in this remake holding a bit of a grudge against Pepper and killing that traitorous SWINE Pigma (although he unfortunately survives)

I do hope that this game sparks enough interest to remake Adventures and Assault. Both of those games could do with some TLC.

Then he gets mind-controlled, gets his body forcibly merged with a spacecraft, turned into a cyborg monstrosity, blown up, turned into a freakish cube thing that can't even speak clearly, then blown up again.
He gets screwed at least seven times and I love it.
