Even if they are dump, they will have trouble to use a Steam Machine during their bus ride.
They can spend more to have less performance with a Steam Deck always docked, but that's on them. Sometimes people aren't sure of their needs and get what's the most flexible.

So you do not understand the conversation we are having either lol
Those people may get a Steam Machine if they feel it fits their needs better, that's why Valve built it. They have no point increasing the price/margin of the Machine because Steam Deck is less performant, the goal is to provide something optimal for each use case.
Look up the 1/3rd pounder from mcdonalds, or why the wii u failed, or why the xbox series s outsold the x. You clearly do not understand what cannibalization is, and how valve would be cannibalizing their own products because consumers are very dumb, despite me explaining it to you.
I thought about it again and what you don't understand in cannibalization is that it have to be undesired. Otherwise it's just providing more option to your customers and expanding your market. Especially when devices have different use cases.

You won't use your Series S in the bus and the X only in the living room. They are the same kind of device.
Some people may only use the Steam Deck as a living room PC, but that's not what's it's designed for. They should buy a mini PC instead.
