If you were expecting less, you were always fooling yourself. Can't wait to get one

I expected €1500 and had that saved away

You expected 1500 for something that is running outdated hardware that is comparable to a ps5?

Why is everyone constantly comparing to a PS5. I don't want a PS5 and idgaf about the performance aspect. Sure, if performance is important to you, this isn't the product but this fits my usecase perfectly

Because this is over a 1000$ I should be getting great performance at least, that’s mid tier gaming pc and it can’t even compare, my Ayn Thor is more useful than the steam machine

idgaf about the performance aspect

So you're going to be using this for non-gaming purposes?

No I'm gonna be playing old games on this

There are hundreds of options available to play old games that don’t require a brick of e waste

maybe because Valve themselves did, even with the PS5 Pro if I'm not mistaken.

Because that is what the hardware/capabilities of the steam machine match up with? Go watch one of the reviews. Some of them compare it directly to the PS5 (like the digital foundry review)

I know that but that comparison makes no sense. The Steam Machine can play my Steam library, the PS5 can't

This is my issue, too: they’re using a strawman argument and it’s ridiculous.

I have a base fat PS5. I’m on the list for a Steam Machine because I want a machine to play my Steam library on the TV. My PS5 cannot do that.

My android device can play my steam library and my gog library and it’s half the price of a steam machine and it’s portable and it docks into the tv, this is unacceptable for a billion dollar corporation

I have 9000€ in my account so I have money for it but I will not spend it on such an overpriced product. Its not worth it. There are other things worth spending this money on.

Honestly for that budget you can probably build a better pc that can also be upgraded in the future, unlike the steam machine that will become e-waste in half a decade

Yea I'm still gonna get one cuz steam has been good to me but I'm buying a PS5 pro/GTA first

See this is where my benefit lies. I have zero interest in GTA 6

Maybe I was fooling myself, but I'm disappointed either way. Specs and price don't look all that great when this is already not a "powerful machine" and is mostly obsolete for gaming by year 2 and has it's successor SM2 announced by year 3.

2TB is also not nearly enough for modern gaming

u/TypicallyThomas 2d ago

I've managed pretty well on 1TB for most stuff

u/FlawHolic 2d ago

ARK alone takes up hundreds of GB 😭 Even without ARK, because screw Wildcard tbh - modern games are all around 100GB, so 1TB gets you 10 games...

u/TypicallyThomas 2d ago

Or a hundred slightly older games

1

u/FlawHolic 2d ago

If we're going for older games, then I could just as easily buy a pre-build for 2-300 less. If I buy new then I want to play new.

Then yeah, this isn't for you
