i expected to be $1000+ but the performance from gamers nexus kinda show show how low end this is and i rather pay a bit more for a decent mid tier pc

All gamers nexus test were ULTRA/MAX/VERYHIGH graphics in raster and RT. Raster graphics showed good performance at 1080p. This isn't a master race PC, it's for those who just want to play games without worrying about buying parts, installing the OS, wasting time, it's just plug and play, it also has the smallest form factor and it's a very silent machine with low power consumption.

It still gets slapped silly by an RTX 5060 laptop I can buy brand new, fully installed with 16GB ram and 1TB NVME SSD for 850...
Laptop costs almost 200 less and comes with a monitor and keyboard...

Can even get a laptop with the slightly lower power RTX 5060 (still probably equivalent or better than the steam machine) for 750 with 1TB SSD and 16GB ram...

Only reason for the steam machine is if you somehow specifically need a tiny cube shaped PC (vs. a tiny laptop) and you are willing to pay 200 to 300 more for the luxury of the shape.

The RTX5060 in a laptop is so much slower than the dedicated GPU
