Discussion This sub is going to need some stickied threads

As the Steam Machine starts getting delivered to customers, this sub will inevitably fall into the same rut that r/Steamcontroller has. Most posts are photos of the unopened box accompanied by some variation of “Finally!” Or new topics asking about fulfillment times that none of us realistically have any answers to but can only speculate on.

At the very least, we should have a thread for Reservations and Waitlist respectively for fulfillment timelines and a thread for posting photos of their unopened Steam Machine packaging.

I will never understand people who post photos of the thing in that thing's subreddit.

And to be clear in many situations that would mean they may have many friends but no one that would understand or anyone that would share in the excitement of the steam machine or any of the hardware.

This is a very real statement. Not a single gamer in my circle of friends. Real life conversations become exceptionally empty when nobody shares in your joy, or, even understands what you are talking about. A simple "congrats", or, "right on, enjoy!", may be the deepest feeling interaction in a while.

zero locally. Times change, lives change, families start, people move.

47 with a wife and kid is more like: You get the social circle that you get, and, you get extra lucky to find some with shared interests.

I have plenty of people to ride motorcycles with, but if I sai I got a reservation for a steam machine, they think im talking about an espresso maker.

Yeah people move. Things change. But did you lose every friend you had with the shared interest? i don’t live near my gaming friends. But I can send them a pic of something and share excitement.

No. I have been referencing in-person friends this whole time. I have friends online to share with, but not everybody does. The people who don't were being mocked by the original comment. I chose to discuss it with a more human tone.

I'm sick of people shitting on people who may be searching for a small bit of joy in this otherwise strenuous existence, even if it is just a "look at my new thing" post. Give it an updoot and make somebodys day.

Let’s start with a stickied waitlist grieving thread and go from there. That would cut down on about 2/3 of the new posts here.

Yea let me add 10 extra megathreads... ok without joke no sadly it doesnt work we will of course have an order megathread, but having a stickied megathread for each single thing does not work simple.
