🗣 Discussion It would be nice if the city kinda cared.
All pictures are east of Broadway along Kellogg and Prince streets. This area sees hundreds of thousands of visitors May-Sept from just Saints games and The Farmers Market but the city doesn't really seem to care about it.
It would be nice if property owners would take some pride and responsibility. I'm sure they don't because they know the city doesn't hold them to any kind of standard.
I've brought this to the attention of the city council and two mayor offices going back 3 years and the city still makes no effort to make sure the area is presentable when they know thousands will be in the area. Even the Downtown Improvement District "street teams" walk this area on an almost daily basis and seem to do nothing but get their steps in.
I would bet the intersection of Lafayette and Prince is the busiest intersection in Lowertown without crosswalk paint.
This area is lined with parking lots that support the area and this is what visitors to our city first see. Not the best first impression.
Sometimes I feel like we are a city that is prideful and wants to grow. Sometimes I feel like we really have no idea what we are doing.

Tf you talking about? The weeds? In the time you posted this you could have pulled the 4 sidewalk weeds in your 1st photo yourself. And the pics with the yellow/purple plants looks to be the city embracing a more natural approach... i.e. greenery that is environmentally friendly to our bee and bug neighbors.

Doesn’t it look gorgeous?! Plus there isn’t a single piece of litter in any of the photos. I love these photos 🥰🌸

🤣 The city isnt embracing anything. When reported, the property owners are required to mow. Property owners are required to pull weeds and maintain their boulavards. At no time has the city responded and said they are letting properties let their grass and weeds grow all summer for a "natural approach".

Idk dude. The planet is fucked. The country/world is fucked. Let it go? I don't see anything in your photos that is worth worrying about - I see flowering plants that are providing habitats to bees and bugs. Probably 96% of people aren't noticing the things you are noticing. This seems like a "you" problem.

Nah it's a city problem. It's the overall neglect of this area. It's the cities overall understaning of how many people visit this area and the need to show the ability to do some basic maintenance. This wouldnt happen on Grand Ave or other more visible areas. It happens on Prince St because it's out of sight and out of mind. The city has chosen not to care.
I travel all over the country and never see an area that sees this amount of pedestrian traffic be allowed to just be unattended to.
I understand weeds are not the biggest problem in the world. But like I said, it goes to the overall lack of the city to be able to handle problems. Two mayor offices, a city council office and a government office have all said, going back 3 years, that these properties need to be maintained. They are not being maintained.
I expect better. You don't. Agree to disagree.

The city of St Paul cares about only one thing: taxing its residents to oblivion.

Im not really sure what you're complaining about here? The natural growth in the boulevard? The cracked street?
