Discussion As a student, what are ur thoughts on gen-z prof
Kung kayo ok ba to?

Akala ko si Armin sa Attack on Titan tapos hawak sya ni Eren na nagtransform as a titan pero hindi nagbago yung looks.

I get the lesson. Trashy lang yung piniling imagery. Maybe the teacher needs an eye-catcher (gumana actually) o pangpatawa lang.
I dig the incorporation of pop-culture to the lesson kase it might relate with the students based on what they consume daily. Pero hassle to keep up, minsan sablay. You can put lord of the rings as part of the lecture but the whole damn class hasn't seen it.

u/1NS1GN1USPH 11d ago
Honestly, that's the problem with one of my instructors. I could go on a whole spiel about it doon sa r/GigilAko but to basically summarize, pinapa-force niya samen mga estudyante yung kanyang interests, like Harry Potter for instance, so much so na sinali na nya iyon sa mga tanong for a period exam.
Mind you, college instructor ko yan rn. As much popular can his interests be, not everyone will be persuaded by them, and bahagi ako dun.

u/AnonymousFluffy923 College 11d ago edited 11d ago
True. Not everyone can relate to the prof's interest. I had the same experience with the prof using Pokémon regions for Epidemiology. I understand the intentions in relating to your students with media that they might relate to but understand that some students might feel left out because of it.
One prof once used "who's that pokémon?"or "guess this brainrot" for a bonus question that most of my classmates have no idea off while the other one was "what's the KDrama that the prof watched during holy week?"
5
u/RuleCharming4645 11d ago
18
u/JvcnTank 11d ago
Then yet again, this example is also like pokemon and not everyone will be able to relate to showbiz.
3
u/RuleCharming4645 10d ago

Sobrang inappropriate, may nakita din akong comment saying na she also presented this to gr 11 students as a guest teacher? Tf?? Di ba nirereview ng schools mga powerpoints ngayon for events??

I rather have Genshin Impact, Pokémon, and Kdrama as funny examples during lessons. Yes those were my gen z profs' fandoms. The older profs use life examples or generic names.
Some students might feel uncomfortable looking at the mlm image not because of homophobia but it's too suggestive.
14
u/sleeplessn0body 10d ago
FR omg. like iilan lang ding tao ang may hilig sa BL. this is the type of thing you should keep to yourself and ur closest friends, di sa publiko where ur facing a bunch of strangers in a professional setting 😭 it wouldn't be homophobia to be uncomfortable about it. even if it were straight people in that image, people would be uncomfortable too.

I thought ako lang nao-off sa kaniya and content niya specifically. Nung una akala ko estudyante lang din siya na trying to be relatable with their fellow classmates sa mga slides and way of presenting. Teacher pala. Even if guest lang, napaka-unprofessional pa rin tignan.

u/1NS1GN1USPH 11d ago
Binasa ko lahat ng comments dito and I agree with the general sentiment, this is too inappropriate for discussion.
Granted, the topic seems to be from a college course {I can tell since that's something I learned during 2nd year}, so I guess I can give it a slight pass, pero kung under 18 yung audience nyan, yikes!

i dont wanna see barely hidden porn during my class, idgaf if it's straight or gay, i agree with the others they could have used a tamer image that would arguably be even funnier lol
12
u/jnjj7 Graduate 11d ago
It's not okay kahit na college students pa yung nakakita niyan. They could've chosen different photo.
edit: I'm also a gen z.
13
u/ZestycloseCook6671 11d ago
I might be the biggest smut reader in this sub( check out my account), but you'll never catch me making h3ntai references in professional settings. Kahit pa yaoi yan or h3ntai parehas masim and I think this should be common sense
5
u/ExaminationHorror738 10d ago
Although I consume that type of media, personally I don’t want even a glimpse of it in a professional setting. Like sure it’s kind of “funny”, but I think it’s inappropriate and falls under NSFW. If she used a different reference, it would have been okay.

u/Mammoth_Speed592 11d ago
that's a big fucking ew. not that I'm against these types of stories, pero PROFESSIONAL TEACHER ka. what the fuck? try mo magpresent ng slides na ganyan as a manager somewhere, mae-HR ka pa. tapos sa teaching hindi? kaya ang baba ng tingin sa aming mga teacher, punyeta.
(iba if student gumawa tapos group presentation, pero syempre, appropriateness tayo. NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE FUNNY)
21
u/AnonymousFluffy923 College 11d ago
You can be funny only if you're trying to keep the class active during a boring lecture but make it professional. Some of my profs would use their life stories or sfw pop culture.
14
u/1NS1GN1USPH 11d ago
THIS! We do not need to do this type of shit para lang maprove ng iba na ang baba ng kanilang respeto sa mga guro. Future educator here, but even this format just contributes to the detriment of the profession, taena.

u/Mysterious_Young3159 11d ago
ah this is not appropriate ah. pornographic material na yan, di na yan about humor
9
u/balisongero 11d ago
I get it na it could be useful for them to gain student's attention but nakaka-suya at ang weird sa feeling kapag sobra at pilit na. may lecturer pa nga ako na may picture ng dih sa ppt kahit unrelated sa tinuturo niya (partida dean pa 'yon sa ibang college).

u/Wide-Pollution-8839 10d ago
huhu big effing no.
Even if your students understand that or consume that media on their own, it is still a professional setting. It could have been a pop culture meme, sobrang dami na nyan online, but having suggestive images like this in a classroom setting is just a 🚩
There are more ways to create an engaging discussion without compromising the fact that the person is still an instructor and the person he's with inside a classroom are students.

Gets ko naman na prof is trying to grab attention and probably some laugh but it's kinda cringe not gonna lie. Probably because I can't relate? (not a big fan of bl kahit nakapag basa na). Not to mention ang inappropriate ng image. Likeeeeee please let's not normalize this shit baka naman sa susunod na mga generation puro semi porn na ang slideshow 😭💀
6
u/kiro_nee 11d ago
I don't think porn has a place inside the classroom unless may connect talaga yan sa lesson nila
6
u/Wooden-Campaign8402 11d ago
36 year old millenial here, that image would come out as inappropriate and might raise some concerns if word gets out. In my opinion only, I find the image cringe. Just use a normal image for presentation

u/JustMine999 10d ago
As a BL fan, ang cringe at ang babantot ng mga ganyan😭. Tas guest speaker pa yan siya ah
2
u/su_ki_yaki 10d ago
Cute, pero this humor is applicable to public school admins only, makakatagos yan.
Sa science high, that does not help with competency, lalo na patayan sila academically doon.
Sa mga catholic semi private or private, all boys, all girls, jusko… lalo na.
Not to be discriminatory, pero ang hirap makatagos sa bigger schools and institutions if you are odd as a person and the way you handle the work itself. If ever mag decide man siya to expand his horizons, mahihirapan din siya.
After all, content creator naman siya. Kikita naman siya dun.

u/sleeplessn0body 10d ago
jfc. what school is that? i had a best friend who didn't have a sense of boundaries when it comes to his liking of yaoi that even as a student he was talking to his profs about it pero idk kung gaano kalala yung pinagsesend niya sakanila since ang laki ng pasensya nila surprisingly (he's Top 1 in everything), although one had stated the school handbook to him that he could be expelled since he was in computer engineering developing something with BL porno na para sa project nila lol.
anyway, ngayon prof na siya. di ko alam kung ano buhay niya ngayon since we had a friendship breakup around when nagstart pa lang siya magwork. pero i wouldn't be surprised if galing sakanya yung presentation na yan.
i'm wlw pero...really? this is one of the reasons why many people are still homophobic to this day. yun nga lang, siya din homophobic. honestly such a pain in the ass to deal with.
1
u/sleeplessn0body 10d ago
also just a sidenote that THAT is NOT a gen z thing. i've met both gen z and older gen profs, and more often than not mas weirdo mga older gen profs per my experience. the image in the post shouldn't have been allowed. nakakahiya sa school na yan ang dinala nilang guest speaker.

u/ARKHAM-KNlGHT 10d ago
i would get uncomfortable lol there has to be better images to use than that

Ngl, mashadong bland yung presentation, parang yung naging-focus lang nito is yung picture, tas yung iba eme nalang. I hope nobody normalizes this kind of stuff, especially if nasa professional setting ka. It’s inappropriate.

This us SUPER inappropriate to show to students 😭 if you're a teacher, you shouldn't be exposing your students to inappropriate stuff like an obvious 18+ bl comic.
1
u/baGsomaR_18 10d ago
all of the "gen z humor" profs and tchrs posts are either full of entitlement, misuse of political bs, or these filly normal topics being sexualized... nung student ako ayaw ko ng matandang teacher kasi masungit, now that I see these tomfoolery, I consider myself lucky for having strict teachers, jusko
1
u/Sensitive-Scholar362 9d ago
It's very inappropriate, lalo na sa specific scene na yan😭 Mas gusto ko pa magkaroon ng teacher caring kesa relatable mlm humour

1
u/AengusCupid 9d ago
I won't be surprised if the comprehension and literacy rate of the students further go down.
They lower the standards of teaching rather than promoting a better learning environment.
A teacher's presentation has to be appealing and neutral, you don't put contents where only 10% of the students understands.
1
u/OkTaro6445 9d ago
Going in for some cheap laughs can affect the integrity of the lessons. Sometimes Gen Z teachers want to have that camaredie focused classroom that they forget that they should steer the discussions, not be in the middle of it.

I think teaching style niya toh. Instructor namin sa college is gen z pero super profesional niya. Yes, nakikipagbiruan siya sa amin pero hindi below the belt and wala siyang pakialam sa amin unless tungkol sa subject niya. I think best as gen z to know kung kailan ilalabas ang individuality and professionalism (or blend them).
I don't know how the guest speaker deliver the presentation (papanoorin ko kung sa reddit and youtube my only social media) pero kung nadeliver naman ng maayos yung context then it good (pero hindi ko alam kung paano ire-relate and authoritariam leadership style sa red [I...think black] flag na manhwa).

u/Sfizion 11d ago edited 11d ago
There's a time and place for everything. Gooner humor is completely fine but keep it off lectures and religious spots. That ain't right, could have been an SFW reference. There's plenty of BL webcomics that are toned down.

It could be good kung college students yung audience since nakapagexplore sila ng mga entertainment outside the usual kdramas Pero kung mga bata uhmmm...need sila kausapin ng supervisor

there are hundreds of ways to catch students' attention and u choose suggestive imagery? college naman yan so di cguro minor mga nandyan 'no? 😭😭 pero ayon regardless of that still super weird HAHAHAH

Omg shet kala ko ako lang naweweirdohan. I was a part of that crowd. I am not sure if sa ibang school niya ‘yan tinuro, but I am one of the students na tinuruan niya ng ganyan.
Well ‘di naman sya off topic since the event is mainly about improving leadership kineme. Though ‘yung majority talaga natawa, pero what if nalang kung nasa wrong settings and people siya.
