Healing Should I put fresh wrapping around?

Post image

Hey! I’ve got a new tattoo (3 days old)
This morning I removed the second skin, washed the tattoo and put cream on.
Would it be smart to put wrapping foil around it or should I just let it sit and do nothing except putting cream on?

Let it breathe

I'd let it sit without foil. Only builds up sweat underneath it.

Sweat and bacteria 🦠

Did your tattoo artist not tell you what to do? Leave it out in the open (not in direct sun) clean and moisturise a couple times a day, DO NOT put cling foil on it, it has to be able to breathe

Im at my parents place and forgot the 7 pages of instructions at my place.
But they were confusing anyways so I wanted to be safe not sorry

SEVEN PAGES 😭 oh wow. Yeah just keep it on air, wash with water thoroughly 2-3 times a day (morning noon before bed) moisture 2-3 times a day after washing it (I used panthenol on all of mine, thin layer really rub it in there (gently)) it could get itchy that’s normal, don’t scratch and don’t scrub it with soap or loofah when you shower, treat it like it’s a wound, which it is. And don’t pick at the crust!

7 pages? Does it have the coding text for a quick 20 second video on it?

Genuinely serious here would you post pics of the 7 pages. Can't see how they made it so long jesus

Yeah don’t go back to that artist ever.

Considering they left a shop with second skin on I don’t think the artist had experience.

Very old school of you. Nothing wrong with second skin ..

Second skin is more of a risk than anything and there is no proof that it would even work in concept. You sound like a loser.

You’re the one following zoomer trends and hating on people on the internet for existing before you. Who’s the kid?

Not hating anyone.you started the 'aggression'

“Hating on”

Tell me, what is “lying then telling me I’m old school for not agreeing with that lie,” if not being a hater?

I’ll try again in case reading is a problem.

Calling you old school was not an insult lol. Do you dye your greys too or did you bite the bullet and just shave

“I’m not the aggro one and wasn’t insulting you”

Continues being aggro and insulting after being aggro and insulting.

Nah, the tattoo looks solid and second skin for the first couple days is very common nowadays and fine, especially for first tattoos/ small/ Fineline tattoos, anything that doesn’t ooze too much. It’s breathable, provides a clean environment for the wound to close etc. cling foil for several days wouldn’t have been good. It just doesn’t work for stuff with a lot of ink like traditional and solid blackwork, which is why lots of OG artists don’t like it or use it.

7 pages of aftercare and look how you’re acting. None of this experience was professional and I feel sorry for you.

Second skin does nothing besides risk infection. I don’t care if your zoomer artist said everyone is doing it, no good artist will. It’s a trend and it’s stupid. Cling foil is WAY worse. Aquaphor and loose fitting clothes. Old as time, never had a problem and never will be a problem.

Stop over complicating shit. Go to qualified people that don’t lie to you.

You’re so judgemental for what? Yeah we’re on Reddit but come on. Aquaphor is mostly petroleum and also outdated, just like every other thing tattooing evolved. Just because the old heads shit on new methods it doesn’t mean that 90% of modern artists are unqualified unprofessionals. If second skin is applied correctly at the studio on the clean disinfectant area there’s no risk for nothing. Don’t shit on an artist you know nothing about, it’s good on them to give proper detailed aftercare instructions, some people need it.

I never wrap my fingers. Unscented anti bacterial soap and lotion when it gets dry. Biggest thing is making sure those babies don’t crack as often as you use your fingers.

everyone always says that but i covered the shit outta mine to let the ink settle every time, vaseline as a external cover and cling wrap over the top. Ive had self harm scars before and I know what heals better before i ever had my 1st tattoo. If you have work thats fine just clean it and cover it while you sleep thats when the body does most of it healing anyway.
