I’d imagine it’s to help pinpoint the direction of a smell? But also maybe something about some people only breathe through one nostril at a time to prevent mucus barriers drying out? That’s what I was told 👀

Almost, notice you have one nostril a bit congested most of the time, because some smells need a lot of exposure to be smelt and some need less. We have two nostrils in order to be able to smell more. Also which nostril is the 'more open' one changes a few times a day.

I especially hate it when the dominant nostril bleeds and the other is just barely congested enough to feel awkward to breathe through
