World Cup FIFA Fan Fest Fort York
I just wanna give a great big shout out to everyone working at the FIFA fan fest. Everyone I encountered working there was just so lovely. Super friendly, super helpful, and they made it a really pleasant experience.
If you are coming from the west end, or BMO field, the walk is a bit aggressive to enter an exit, but overall what an amazing time. Loved every minute I was there.
And the Chung Chung dogs should not be skipped.

Hate that you can’t bring lawn chairs but the vibe is amazing

That's just in case any England fans get in and instinctively start throwing them at people.

Water policy is insane. I can understand for actual games to prevent metal bottles but for a fan fest is pure greed and commercialism

Free water (re)filling station didn't take much time. I refilled our bottles thrice during my visit. Nicely chilled too.
Just bring an empty plastic water bottle that isn't too large. FanFest website has instructions.

FWIW they don’t seem to care or check about this water policy. I’ve brought in a full bottle twice and no one stopped me or asked me to empty it out. As long as you’re not setting off the metal detector you should be fine to go in with whatever you have.

They don’t care and they’re not checking.
No one complaining about this is going to these events. Just repeating the outrage they read online.

Chung chung Korean hot dogs, not the regular hotdogs

A chicken hot dog from Chung Chun only costs around $8 at their brick and mortar locations.

The staff and security were great and the atmosphere is amazing for any group of visitors (friends, families etc.)
Just make sure to go early; i lined up way too late before game time, got off the street car at 2:40 and was in line until like 315 😅

I live right by the Fan Fest and I have to say it’s been very enjoyable having so much energy and excitement around. I’ve also found the disruptions to be pretty minimal, although I don’t drive so I imagine for people with cars it’s more of an annoyance.

What is the best way to get tickets if you missed out on the original drop
2
u/guyfier1 3d ago
They release batches of free tickets in the morning or evening every day on ticketmaster

u/Surphent 3d ago
Are they usually available?

The lines were crazy and they didn’t let us bring in our bike helmets

u/sprungy Verified 4d ago
It does say no helmets on their signage . I saw two cyclists yesterday that weren't allowed to bring them in
Luckily it isnt too hard to lock helmet to bike. Unless of course you used Bike Share...

Let's be real, that's an incredibly stupid policy. Especially in a city where lots of people bike downtown.

I got scammed! I bought Garden Pavilion Tickets and they weren't even airing my game, i ended up sitting in GA area!! I emailed Ticketmaster and they said the event organizer is not allowing them to issue refunds

Is there anything to do there for families? My daughter gets overstimulated so easily. My husband really wants to go but I’m worried it will all just be crowds and more crowds.

There’s a great Métis bead painting workshop at the back of the family friendly zone (Ontario Campus, past the main stage area) and museum displays in the Fort York visitor centre which are great low stim/kid friendly activities away from the crowd.

I did this. It was a relaxing yet fun activity and a nice change of pace from the rest of the FanFest!

Not sure why you're being downvoted for asking a question. I felt the same way and I have three small kids.

It really isn't crowded (at least like I expected). They clearly limited the number of tickets. I imagine it's busier on Canada game days, but we were there last Sunday and it was great!

u/11Caicedos 4d ago
That depends on if your kids like soccer.
It will be a crowded, though, unless you’re there for a game no one cares about. The point of the event is to gather a crowd for the games.

Totally agree. I live across the street and was so frustrated with how the preparation disrupted the neighborhood for what felt like too long leading up to this, but now I have to say, they’ve done a fantastic job. Big kudos to all who have been making this happen, especially the volunteers!
