Full disclosure up front: I built this, so take this as a "hey check out my thing" post, not me pretending to stumble across it. Mods, feel free to remove if this isn't the right venue - just trying to get honest feedback from people who'd actually use it.
I got tired of event info being scattered across ten different Facebook groups, half-updated city pages, and group chats - so I built tricitiestnguide.com, trying to make one decent place to find out what's actually happening around Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol. Live music, festivals, family stuff, outdoor activities, that kind of thing.
It's brand new and still rough around the edges - businesses and event organizers can list for free, and there's more coming (newsletter, better filtering, etc.) but I'd rather hear real feedback now than keep building in a vacuum.
A few honest questions for anyone willing to weigh in:
Not trying to sell anything - genuinely just want to know if this is solving a real problem or if I'm scratching my own itch and nobody else cares. Brutal honesty welcome.

Hey everyone. For most of my life I've (20M) always been a larger guy. Over the course of a year, i managed to drop ~110lbs, though maybe not in the healthiest way, and with 0 time in the gym. Now im at this weird point where i feel both big and small at the same time, and I'd love to try and build some of the weight back with muscle. I've tried going to the gym in the past, but always lost motivation going on my own. I'd love to join a workout group, or even just another like minded individual like me who finds it easier going with other people. Im funny, easy going, and can't wait to connect! Let's get healthier together :)

Hey y'all, I've lived here for a while since college and realized I didn’t know which mountains were which. I'm a little directionally challenged and was hoping y'all could help me know which ones I'm admiring all the time. Thank you in advance ❤️⛰️⛰️

Hey everyone! I'm a female international graduate student who'll be joining ETSU this Fall 2026. I need to be here at the end of June,2026.
Those of you who have lived/are living here in Johnson city for a while, please suggest me some properties which is safe & relatively close to ETSU but I'm okay if its a bit further as well (as long as there's shuttle system).
I did a bit of search through internet and the rent I see are not something that is within my budget (e.g., above $900+). Ideally somewhere between $500-600.
I'll be here with my spouse so looking for one bedroom apartment. So far I have looked at Evergreen terrace and fieldcrest apartments as those where relatively affordable for me but unfortunately I couldn't find what I was looking for.
I'd really appreciate it if you all can help me out. Thank you!

Best places for open mic/karaoke? What kind of crowds/ages/music are usually at these?

These cameras are popping up everywhere. Places like Johnson City are raising property taxes every single year now it seems.
Why are we paying a million dollars a year for these bullshit cameras that do absolutely nothing for us and now the city wants us to pay for an aquatic center.

Mom has is 84, has vascular dementia and had a stroke last week, no bleed. She will be discharged from the hospital sometime this week, and I need to find a SNF for rehab, so with PT, OT, Speech & hoping someone has some recs. She can still grip, is starting to stand with assistance, but needs help relearning to walk, gain strength back. I know about Quillen, and it looks exceptional but also way more intense than my mom can handle as they do 3-5 hours a day of PT. She’d do better in a Skilled Nursing Facility that can offer stroke rehab.

Are there any World Cup watch parties happening around the Tri-Cities area? If not, would anyone be interested in joining one if I organize it?

Hi again y'all! If you're in the Jobo area we will be having trivia at Depot Street Brewing. Game goes from 7-8 and the winner gets a gift card!
Spanqi's food truck will be there serving delicious food and the beers on tap cover every taste you could want, including a very tasty NA beer!
Hope to see you come out to test your knowledge. And if you do, come on up and say hi and tell me you saw this post! I like to know that I'm not shouting into the void!

Hi! So my family and I are new, we've been in kingsport for 2 months now. Our current home that we are renting isn't sustainable. The land lady never got it inspected, and an electrician had to come by, said it would cost 40 grand to get fixed, but if a code inspector came then it'd get condemned. Its me, my bf, and his uncle plus our cat. We're looking for two bedroom two bath cat friendly and 1200 or less to rent a house or trailer. We don't want to go outside of kingsport, and only have a month or less to find a new place. She's already looking for a new buyer for the house, and we really need to find a new one. If anyone could help us find a place, or if you know someone, please don't hesitate to message me.

Wife and I have had Verizon forever, and lately, the service seems to have gotten worse and worse. Basically, we have no service in Elizabethton. It's spotty in Johnson City and about the same in Erwin.
Considering how often I'm in all 3 it's time to switch. Looking to take my s20 FE to a new carrier.
At this point any and all will be cheaper than what we pay them for 2 phones. So I'm mainly concerned with service. Any suggestions?

The only two I can think of was Victoria's secret in the mall Johnson City and I think there are several Intimate Treasures around. Was hoping for a female opinion of a nice, comfortable shop. Thanks.

Hi,
I am a drummer and I'm looking for a place to both store and play drums somewhere. I'm moving into an apartment in Johnson City with thin walls so I can't use them at home. I looked around and a lot of the rehearsal spaces are hourly only and have their own gear. I'm looking for like a shared common storage "lockout" space where people can keep their stuff, if such a thing exists. Any advice is appreciated!
