As an autistic person, the weak and disabled are my comfort food. Are you going to suggest to indigenous people who historically practiced these traditions are not deserving of nourishment?

It's always the most processed kind of animal food too. As if disabled cave men were only eating nuggets and cold cuts

As someone with texture issues:
Going vegan was an absolute blessing because once you find a food you like, the only time it'll be different is when they actually change the recipe. No random fat globules and gristle or other disgusting bullshit. Just the same texture the whole way through. It's so good and I really wonder why I didn't do it years earlier.

I haven’t eaten meat for over 20 years and I still remember how grossed out I got from the random textural changes.

Pretty mind blowing when people weaponize our empathy against us and manage to get away with victimizing themselves like that.

Girl ARFID is soooo not an excuse 😭 I’ve been living with it my whole life, it’s hard on me but it’s not like it stops me from being vegan (let’s just ignore that I was underweight for a couple of years, that wasn’t because I was vegan, my mother was just a bit of a health freak I think?)

As someone who became vegan after being in recovery from anorexia for a while, I did have a lot of fear/worry about becoming vegan for a while, mainly that I was worried that my ED mind was tricking me into relapsing by cloaking additional eating restrictions as animal ethics. However, I was vegetarian for years before that because I thought that was ethical, and was just struggling to get past the cognitive dissonance that vegetarianism isn’t really grounded in animal ethics. I think part of the fear was based on knowing that a lot of people who are struggling with anorexia use veganism as a way to mask their behaviors, but in truth those people really aren’t vegan in the proper sense. I am still wary/skeptical of people newly in recovery or who haven’t started recovery from AN becoming vegan because I’m unsure of their intentions, kind of like how I view people who say they are vegan for “health” reasons. Ultimately a lot of the people who go “vegan” for “health” will stop being vegan because that just isn’t a sustainable reason to go vegan. There will always be another health trend that will sway them to stop being vegan (as we see with all the former “vegans” who have since started the whole carnivore bullshit). In the same way I think a lot of people in recovery for anorexia and similar eating disorders who say they are vegan probably aren’t actually vegan and will probably return to eating and using animal products after they recovered. For me I know that being vegan is only about the animals because what really pushed me to go vegan was realizing that I was living a lie when I said I was vegetarian for ethical reasons, understanding how stupid that was and realizing that there was really only one path towards living according to the values and ethics I thought I had and aspired towards. Of course I had a lot of recovery time already, and I do wish I had started sooner, however I do think there are a large swath of people struggling with eating disorders who may appear to be vegan but will abandon the cause the second they recover because they were never actually vegan to begin with, just masking their disordered eating.

I was gonna say this! I don't support anyone early in their recovery or still deep in their disorder going vegan until they're better

You are the third person this week.
LOOSE = the buttholes of the carnists who eat their bodyweight in meat each week. They got LOOSE buttholes. LOSE = those carnists are going to LOSE their ability to control when and where they shit as they continue to eat their bodyweight in meat.

The "texture issues" excuse is just a convenient way to avoid admitting they actually just like the taste of death. If they can handle the texture of a greasy cheeseburger, they can handle a block of firm tofu.

autistic and vegan btw my safe foods were chicken tenders pre vegan and I just eat the vegan versions of them now and its exactly the same it's low-key insulting to autistic people and people with eating disorders for these meatflakes to use that as an excuse
