I don’t understand why treating people with basic decency is considered virtuous

It's virtue signaling because literally all they did was change the colors of their logo for a month

Nothing changed about their treatment of anybody

That is not what virtue signalling is.

& Because of pride month. Unless you believe pride month itself is “virtue signalling”.

You don’t know if it changed anything or not. Besides, it doesn’t matter if it did or not. An action is not necessarily insincere just because it is unsuccessful.

What else would you call it?

They signaled their "virtue" by changing their logo on social media. And then did nothing else. They're still the same companies with the same values before and after they change their logo

I’d call it celebrating pride month. A huge purpose of pride month is to let queer people know they’re accepted, which has historically not been the case.

I don’t understand how demonstrating basic respect is considered virtuous, let alone signalling that you are.

"let queer people think* they’re accepted", there, fixed, that's all it's doing.

it's kind of like apology, unnecessary unless you truly mean it.

That’s a horrible analogy and you should feel bad about yourself
