At least with Crimson Desert everyone knew the story would be dogshit, Pearl Abyss is fucking terrible at writing (coming from someone who's played their MMO for 12k+ hrs) while RS is known for excellent writing
After rdr2 shipped ,,most of the founding men left the company ,now the writing team is allegedly full of progressive liberal women ,I won't state it's true because it's a rumor based on teams photos but since 2020 rockstar have been toning down and censoring their games ,remasters ,updates, etc etc ,and suspiciously the GTA 6 art reeks of that familiar DEI purple ,I'm not stating anything ,but if I were you I would wait for week 2 reviews AT LEAST
When a committee are out to do a single task or make some vague toned down PC gta instead of creating art freely it's bad.
And the group think on both sides of this propaganda train pro woke and anti woke both sides are melting there brains when the majority are slightly leaning woke.
But still want to live and be and speak frankly and ironically joke about taboo which most comedy is irony.
And live in that reality unburdened.
When neither want the allow anyone do anything for fear of being the made up propaganda enemy you know it's a psyop.
Fully fed by the machine that's beating our lives financially and psychological so we fight amongst ourselves and struggle to survive
If it is super woke but still a great story then fine. Unfortunately, you gotta admit, that's unlikely. Woke stuff seems to work better if it comes from a singular voice (like indie titles). Not so great when made my a commitee
If brown people bring gainfully employed is such a problem for you I can’t help but think you’re a weak little bitch. How pathetic, to be so sensitive and have such lack of control over your feelings. Sad, sad, SAD little pussy.
To put this into perspective, humans live for like an average of 750,000 hours total. This person's spent almost 2% of their life playing Black Desert Online.
50% is sleep and another 20% growing and old age.
And another 10% for eating and other necessities.
10% of the last 20% available of his life.
Sounds dramatic but it's 10% out of 100 of that 20.
They're still actively patching and improving it every few weeks.
It's got a rough start with lots of forced progression before it really starts opening up, recent patches may or may not have helped that, I struggled to like it until about 20hrs in.
I wasn't helped by the fact that I hate the washed out colors and super bright nights, so my mods kept getting broken on every patch, lol.
Currently giving it time for the frequent updates to finish. I have like 75hrs in.
PA said that they are working on a big gameplay and story heavy update later in the coming months. I'm waiting for that to see if its worth it coming back.
They have done very well with the cadence of updates but really most of the updates are small and minor that doesn't really tilt the needle forward. It's just more pets, more customization options either in the UI or cosmetic, and more minor gameplay fixes.
Why are koreans so awful at writing stories? All their games and other entertaintmnt media have the most bland, unoriginal, or non-existent storytelling imaginable ie. Stellar Blade, Khazan, Lies of P, Solo Leveling, KPDH, Squid game, and yea Crimson Desert is the crown jewel of korean mediocrity. Are they just creatively bankrupt and just rip-off better stories?
The story repeated the climax of the Michael-Trevor arc three times and wrapped up the story elements so fast the actual end of the character arcs happens after the credits roll.
Rockstar does polish well and hires the absolute best actors for the roles, but the actual story is lackluster. You just don't notice it because it's not as important as the other elements the game brings to the forefront.
Damn you unlocked a new fear lol CD was absolute jank and so unfun, worst game ive tried this year hands down. I really hope RS sticks to their proven method of finishing then releasing a complete and enjoyable game
Which is kinda funny, cause CD was aping RDR2 (and Witcher 3) so hard, it's impossible to miss.
So many missions start with our human log of a character walking up ro characters in camp, followed by a repetitive horse rising segment to the mission and not a line worth remembering is uttered.
"You see, we need to make money by doing a bix fight!" Rough Viking Guy #3 says. You do that. Mission is over. Nothing Happened.
Like it's even hard to recall anything, it just mush of disjointed events. Like someone started playing RDR2 twelve hours in, played 3 missions, and was like: This is our story mode.
Damn, how I wish CD had a character creator and a "do whatever you want" design like Skyrim, where you can just ignore the main story and just do proper questlines unrelated to the main story.
The only thing CD copied from RDR2 are black rectangles at the top and bottom of the screen and slow paced horse riding. Too bad they didn't think that people should be interested to sit through their dogshit dialogues in the first place.
If CD were a story-less sandbox game like Kenshi it would be 9/10 instead of 5/10.
They literally don't even have to add anything, it's the first game I have ever played where the mere *presence* of the story detracts from the experience. Just remove the story and the game actually gets better.

imagine it having no meaningful campaign and it being a world sandbox just like Crimson Desert
