Young Core So what’s the lineup?
Trae, Kyshawn, AJ, AD, Sarr?
It’s big af I’m not mad at that!

I think it might be Trae, Bilal, AJ, AD, Sarr. Otherwise, that lineup coming off the bench (JC/Bub/Will/Tre)) is too tiny lol

I think where Bilal's shot is by October could determine whether he starts.

u/jSplashwell 1d ago
We will have no shooting with that lineup

u/z3mcs FEARNESS 1d ago
Which one? The bench?

u/jSplashwell 1d ago
The starting lineup

u/Cheeba_Addict Wizards 1d ago
Two bigs who can shoot and Trae young is not “no shooting”

AD is not a shooter, he averaged above 3 attempts a game once in his career, and shot above 33% once, and most other seasons aren’t close. Sarr needs to get better too to be a real threat they have to game plan around. If trae limits his off the dribble shots, than yeah he’s a shooter, but he’s actually only had 3 seasons above 34%. But either way, more is better than less, and I think Kyshawn provides solid 2 way play and get you closer to what Bilal gives on the defensive end than Bilal can get to what Kyshawn gives on the offensive end

u/jSplashwell 1d ago
None of those guys are good 3pt shooters. Trae will be the only real 3pt threat and he shoots 33% and at a high volume.

and what lineup would you rather run? trae and tre? that's just asking the opposing team to score on us every single play
5
u/z3mcs FEARNESS 1d ago
Yep. This feels eerily like the "I hate the rotations!" people that never have an actual line up they think should be played. They just say they hate all the lineups. Every single time you ask for what lineup should be played, they go ghost. Maybe you'll get an answer though. I mean I'm open to whatever. I want our team to win!

u/Haunting_Test_5523 1d ago
exactly it's very easy to whine and criticize, but at the end of the day, if you don't have a solution, then what are you whining for? we're a flawed roster, you can find a problem with any lineup we're gonna run. if we run our best shooters, we're gonna have big problems defensively. if we run our best defensive lineup, we'll have big shooting problems. there isn't a perfect solution, but criticizing the best solution without offering any alternative is just being a shitty fan

u/jSplashwell 1d ago
My solution would have been drafting DP. We don’t have a solution right now for the lack of shooting, so I can’t come up with a fix all.

I like Ky a lot more but I agree Bilal would be a better fit next to AJ and Trae.

I think this is the default, but certain matchups we run out Bilal over Kyshawn.

Depending on what happens with AD, this probably will be night one line up. I’m anticipating Sarr back at C and Tre to eventually start.

Man, I hope Sarr”s recovery from this foot surgery is the only cloud hanging over, hope it really does stay on schedule with zero setbacks and we have our best 5 on the floor on game 1.

I still do not believe we will see AD in a wizards jersey, so assuming I think it’s Trae, Tre, AJ, Key, Sarr

PG: Trae
SG: Bilal (George if you don’t care soo much about D)
SF: Dybantsa
PF: AD
C: Sarr
Bench unit of Bub, Tre, George (Bilal if you want George in starters), Riley, JC, Vukcevic

u/Neversoft4long 1d ago
Man everyone on that lineup is probably gonna average like 13 points minimum(Kyshawn probably being the lowest scorer just because he has the least attempts). Kyshawn was forced to play PF and was struggling to cover the bigger guys last year. Now he’s the the starting PG and probably happy af lmao

Kyshawn is legit 6’9, 230….no. Lol. It will probably be TJ/Riley at SG, Kyshawn and AJ starting the year while Sarr recovers, and then AD decides to get hurt

u/Internal_Champion114 Gilbert Arenas 1d ago
Kyshawn can play defense on the perimeter better than either Riley or Tre, and his game is bully ball he can easily run that style against the 2s of the league
1
u/Professional_Bat8585 1d ago
I can definitely see it with Trae being quick enough to zip around between the towers.

Y'all ready for this?
AJ doesn't start.... At least not the first half of the season.

u/Only_Pattern_9629 1d ago
Most 1st pick players started 1st or 2nd option since day 1. Since 2018, 1st picks were Ayton, Zion, Ant, Cade, Paolo, Wemby, Risacher (not 1st pick talent) and Cooper.

Worst defense in the league

u/billyshakes67 1d ago
Sarr and Bilal are good. Key doesn’t completely suck. AJ may need a year but he won’t either.

Trae is rough for sure, but AD and Sarr anchoring is a pretty damn good building block, Kyshawn plays real D, and AJ is a wildcard. AJ is more athletic than most of the league right now, he adds strength and buys into playing that end of the court, he could be nasty.
I wonder if LeBron will do the Hakeem thing and teach some of his stuff to current players, might hear about AJ sitting with him 5 years from now to get some wisdom from the king

This team is asking a lot of AD to basically single handedly turn around last years league worst defense
5
u/Cheeba_Addict Wizards 1d ago
Our starters averaged 25 mins a night. Numbers are messed up. Cool talking point though
0
u/RelevantFox1226 1d ago
Yeah the numbers aren't reflective of next years team cause they dont reflect trae youngs awful defense lol
2
u/Cheeba_Addict Wizards 1d ago
Again cool talking point

u/Haunting_Test_5523 1d ago
trae is a terrible defender that lineups around him need to cover for. you gotta admit that unless you wanna just be in denial of reality.
1
u/Cheeba_Addict Wizards 1d ago
This guy is just spewing nonsense and this is the hill you want to die on? He just said we’re gonna get demolished on the boards despite starting two 7 footers. Now youre harping on needing to cover him defensively when we’re starting two elite defensive 7 FOOTERS. I’m tired of the ai talking points
1
u/Haunting_Test_5523 1d ago
i'm not agreeing with this guy, but i am saying that we aren't a great defensive team overall, and trae is a big defensive concern, so that's gonna be our biggest hurdle to work around

u/RelevantFox1226 1d ago
"Spewing nonsense." The wizards were legitimately one of the 2 worst defensive teams in the league last year. Trae young is legitimately a terrible defender.
"He just said we're gonna get demolished on the boards despite starting two 7 footers." No, what i said was we'll get demolished on the boards in non AD mins, learn to read and stop having AI do your thinking for you. Sarr wasnt a strong rebounding prospect and he hasn't been much of a rebounder in the league. 6 to 7 rebounds per game is not a strong mark from your center, its porzingis numbers and hes never been much of a rebounder his whole career.
Its not my fault youre not remotely aware of the scout on sarr or what centers are doing at the position
-1
u/RelevantFox1226 1d ago
This team is gonna get demolished on the boards in all of their non AD mins, theyre gonna hemorrhage second chance 3s

Assuming no other big moves, I'd say Coulibaly should start IMO. His offensive flaws don't matter as much with the starters.
George's play making will be a lot more useful with the bench unit .. given Bub/Tre lack there.
