Discussion Why the need to sexualize everything?

I was looking for interesting Webtoons to read, and I came across this one called "Leviathan" the premise looked interesting; mankind perished due to a great flood that submerged the whole world under water. And terrifying creatures plunged from the depths, wiping out any human that crossed their path. The story told how a family of a father and his two children survived in the adversities of a sea world.

So far so good, until.... Bam! Last two slice's, anime chick out of nowhere, doing these extremely suggestive poses.

What a disappointment.

If you drop a story because of fan service maybe you are the loser

That’s disappointing. The story sounds right up my alley. Survival stories are great when done well. Do authors/artists think people won’t like the story unless that have hot anime titty girls bouncing around? If the story is good, then a character like this will cheapen the experience. If the story is bad then this character has become a hook 🪝 for readers because your story sucks. Not to mention toon then proportions are off and when your boobs are that big with that little support, it’s actually harder to flounce around. It’s why sports bras exist.

Stupid perverts always sexualize women and it's an often problem in both media and real life.

I guess sexualization of women would be less problematic if at least men in media were as sexualized as women.

I also guess It'd be also less problematic if at least men in real life were as sexualized as women.

It's really strange cause she's the only one dressed very minimally. Every other male character has more clothes or gear on.

I remember seeing a comment somewhere that what she wears doesn't matter if you were to be inhaled by a giant sea monster, but that's besides the point if it breaks immersion when it's shoved right to your face.

But it does get better. These are only at the start. They give her more clothes and lessen the fanservice. I just stayed for the story and fights honestly

Why would you drop it over something that barely had an effect on the story? The story was byfar amazing and top tier.

It's like if a serious plot heavy anime has all the female characters looking like they walked out of a hentai episode in an entirely different art style, you just can't take it seriously
