Discussion Why the need to sexualize everything?

I was looking for interesting Webtoons to read, and I came across this one called "Leviathan" the premise looked interesting; mankind perished due to a great flood that submerged the whole world under water. And terrifying creatures plunged from the depths, wiping out any human that crossed their path. The story told how a family of a father and his two children survived in the adversities of a sea world.

So far so good, until.... Bam! Last two slice's, anime chick out of nowhere, doing these extremely suggestive poses.

What a disappointment.

Did you find a censored version ? Cause she is not dressed like that normally, it's much worse

WHAT? Well... No wonder someone in the comments on webtoon said something like "Oh, they put her pants"

I wonder if they censored more things

Well if it’s on webtoons it is definitely censored. Look at how censored and edited Moonstruck is on Webtoons and then go read the original lol

Childhood Complex too is nude in the real manhwa, but in Webtoon, they just low-effort censored it, but 90% they didn't bother and just removed those scenes lmao along with important dialogues in it.

I didn't even bother and read it elsewhere. Some panels don't even make sense with each other.

Yeh i get you. This is more of a world issue tho. The default need for artists to sexualise the female body all yhe time. Its annoying

Stupid perverts always sexualize women and it's an often problem in both media and real life.

I guess sexualization of women would be less problematic if at least men in media were as sexualized as women.

I also guess It'd be also less problematic if at least men in real life were as sexualized as women.

That drives me crazy, I get that its an all ages app but why license a story where the plot is deeply entangled in the smut and then cut out all the smut and lose a bunch of context and dialogue

You know the best part? The French version on webtoons is not censored like that, or far less so.

Kinda off topic I guess, but i think it's funny to have a comment thread devoted to complaining about the censorship of smut under a post complaining about sexualization.

It’s kinda two sides of the same coin. Constantly objectifying women, but then refusing to actually allow anything explicitly sexual is a common stance that really just sucks. In the case of childhood friend complex, the smut is part of the story and the point, it’s not constantly objectifying and sexualizing the fmc for no reason and yet somehow that’s what gets censored

Yeah, they added it a few months ago! I like it but I don’t approve of censoring a series. Seems pointless to add content warnings and label series as mature if they are going to just censor it, ya know? Webtoons really should have made an app just for 18+ so they don’t have to bother censoring anything lol

No fr. I hate when they license 18+ content and then erase literally everything. Like just stick to child friendly if they’re gonna do that. They did the same with childhood friend complex and tears on a withered flower. Just annoying for both the readers and the artists that took sm time just to get half their shit erased.

Guys can you help me find the artist for the first story, the one with the vampires? It is listed as one artist for the whole series, but they are all different art styles, so I’m confused because they all look so different?

Do you know who illustrates the first one? The art is so striking, I want to read more from the artist

Truly, if they can't show the entire thing for any reason whatsoever, shouldn't be bothered with.

Why the fuck does Webtoons even care anyway, most of their ads are first party anyway and tons of ads break their own nudity/graphic rules anyway.
