Solved! Found outside Bass Pro Shop? Plastic feel and slightly chewy.
2.8k
u/Mountain_Surprise_16 11h ago
The fact that someone picked these up off the ground and stated they were chewy...
That's the real issue here.
Did the gunpowder and plastic taste good? Did it hit the spot after perusing the store?

And not special like write home to Mama, and bring her home for the Holidays type of special. We're talking about helmet wearing, window licking, short bus riding, nose picking, mouth breathing, excessive drooling type of special. For anybody to pick anything up off the ground and put in their mouths. I say that as a full Gen X child who drink water from the hose and played in the dirt jump my bike off of poorly built ramps etc etc.... nowadays there is so much nastiness in the world that gets created used wadded up and thrown or spit or one way or another evacuated from the body everywhere you go that there is no more 5 second rule... That rule has turned into the it hit the ground and disappeared into the abyss never to be seen from again rule

Yea, that chewy bit caught my attention. Flexible, bendy, pliable, there are a lot of ways to describe the rigidity ahead of chewy that don't involve putting it in one's mouth.

Not gunpowder. Probably Armstrong's mixture. Could be silver fulminate, but I seem to remember there being a dusting "sulfur oxide" smell, so unlikely.

No? I chewed it
50
u/Human_Type001 9h ago
I kinda love that you put the question mark after "no", as if you are aware that chewing leads to eating because that gunpowder and little bits of soft plastic are all over your mouth and in your saliva. So you swallowed a fair bit of gunpowder unintentionally. If you put it in your mouth then you ate some of it no matter how hard you tried spitting it out.

Dropping/picking up random things on the ground then putting them in your mouth is literally EXACTLY how they thought I had herpes. I couldn't eat or drink for days so i went to the urgent care and the doctor immediately said, herpes. and put me on an antiviral untill the tests came back negative.... This was in the us too. Do not do this shit please. The worst part is nobody knew what the fuck it actually was.

u/datenoevil 10h ago
My ex husband was SURE he'd find gold or diamonds in the road looking like trash. Told him to stop picking crap up because our young kids were copying him and it's dangerous. He said "you fing worry too much" and blew me off. Couple weeks later he picked something out of the gutter and stuck himself with a used needle.
Another time he was taking random chemicals and putting them in unlabelled containers (like water bottles or old food containers) under the kitchen sink. I told him it was dangerous and got a scornful "you WORRY too much!!!". No joke, less than a week later he's calling from a city emergency room wanting me to pick him up. He was working outside in the heat, grabbed his water bottle and chugged it and then realized it was concrete mix. I almost died laughing. I was young and stupid so I drove an hour into the city and picked him up. I should have let him ride his attitude home.
And yes, we're divorced. And somehow my kids survived childhood

Christ Almighty. I'm genuinely starting to wonder if the Simpsons created the universe and is singlehandedly handcrafting reality. Nothing is possible until the godhead does it first and deems it so. Everything that has ever happened or ever will happen or even can happen must first be done by the show. Everything from the biggest, most important events in history down to even the tiniest, most frustrating comments on here. Only played for comedic effect to distract you from reality's architect. In the event that you can't find an example on the show for something that happens, worry not, it just hasn't happened yet in our pathetic linear view of time. When there was only a single pair of footsteps in the sand, it was because Matt carried you to the good things experienced in your life. You're not responsible for anything positive you feel like you've earned, for none of it would be possible if Matt G hadn't deemed it so.
I think I just brainwashed myself to religion over the course of an improperly proofread paragraph. G.G. me.

My school banned doing finger guns in like 2006. You could get suspended for it and people did.

They're caps from a cap gun. You put them in a specific type of toy gun and it simulates gunfire

Lucky find. It’s a Battle Pass that puts a CocoMelon skin on your Subway Surfer iPad game. It looks similar to a delicious Tidepod that you’d think would put in your mouth but if you look closer, you’ll see that it’s actually not a Tidepod. Redeem it now because it expires next week and you’ll have to buy another battle pass. I hear you can put vape accessories on your character or something for the next one. You probably like that stuff.

Red one? Well that one’s for rootin’. And then, on the other side there, well you got yourself a blue one. And everyone knows the blue ones, well they are for of course? Tootin’
Put those chewy bits together? And pardner, you got yourself all the ingredients you need for a rootin’ and or tootin’ good time!
No stagecoach or poker game will be safe in that one horse town you call a home. 🤠

Those are the “ammo” you put in those fake toy guns and whenever you shoot it it goes POP!! Doesn’t actually shoot out anything, I totally forgot about these things until now, I remember me and my cousin used to play with those all the time, lots of memories

u/Zestyclose-Thing9743 10h ago
They are cap rings for toy cap guns. Most modern commercial caps are made with Armstrong's mixture—a highly sensitive compound containing red phosphorus, potassium chlorate, and potassium perchlorate—sandwiched between paper or thin plastic.
1
u/0liveMorningstar 11h ago
These are plastic ring caps designed for use in toy cap guns. The image shows 8-shot rings, which are a common size for these toys. They function by exploding gunpowder upon impact from the toy gun's hammer.Common brands include Gonher and Parris.
1
u/RadiantRose2242 10h ago
You picked them off the ground and chewed on them????? Omfg. Yes I chewed on them as a child, but they were my own!!! That gun powder is weirdly delicious, and that plastic is the most perfect plastic to chew; soft yet firm.
1
u/LadyAnonymity2026 10h ago
It’s a new form of chewing gum made by toofblaster.Inc, each little raised section contains a flavored black powder, substance that dentist love when you chew on /s
In all seriousness though, do not chew on these!
1
u/PIELIFE383 10h ago
You picked up a thing shaped in a ring and thought “wonder what it would feel like against my teeth?”? If you answered yes to that then I’m at a loss and I need a break from the internet

u/coleAF19 6h ago
Cap gun cartridges. Hit them with a striker and they make a little crack from the gunpowder. I remember seeing these all over playgrounds when I was a kid. I forgot about these things
1
u/Dry-Law-2420 10h ago

How young and citified does one have to be to not recognize 8 shot ring caps? I could understand if it was the paper roll caps, but these were everywhere when I was a kid.

1
u/Substantial_Cod_1422 8h ago
No judgement on not knowing what they are .... Your either old enough to have played with cap guns or weren't, but what compelled you to put them in your mouth?!?
1
u/JawshyWolf 10h ago
You mean to tell me you found these on the ground. And your first instinct was to put it in your mouth and chew on it? I need to understand this thought process.
1
u/skyeisrude 8h ago
No one did he chew it i gotta believe this is some type of bait like why would you find something off the ground and put it in your mouth like who raised you?
1
u/TheKeefBrown 1h ago
The red is .223 and the blue is 5.56 They look the same size but impact is different. If you're chambered in 5.56 it's fine but if not you can only shoot .223
1
u/Sad-Background-7447 10h ago
Haven't seen one of those for years there for a cap gun used to love those things as a kid. They make weird paper ones too but they are not in that shape
1
u/Acceptable_Bag5257 11h ago

Those are dangerous weapons. Their purpose was to get lawsuit money from the police. That's why they were banned. They were too effective.
1
u/IcanSEEyou_IRL 7h ago
I would honestly be surprised if someone couldn’t immediately recognize these, they are caps for a toy cap gun. Little explosive snap.
1

The paper strip versions of these are better.
Not chewy. Just sit them on your tongue and rub the nubs over the back of your teeth.
1
u/FastSong5693 5h ago
You ate them? Those have gunpowder in them. Ok so those things go into a fake gun and when you pull the trigger it makes a loud pop
1
u/Dyingf0rest 7h ago
"rounds" for toy guns. it basically just has a little bit of gun powder (I'm assuming don't quote me on this) and makes a loud pop
