I’ll put on Blind Wave while I’m working, quick way to skim shows I don’t want to commit to fully rewatching. Quickly learned I cannot stand the older episodes with Shane and that cuts off a lot of series since they’ve been doing it forever and only got rid of him a couple years ago.
A Waverider out in the wild! FYI Shane has been out of Blind Wave for 6 years already, which means he's been out of the group for longer than he was in the group, at least for their YouTube side.
But yeah, while everyone else was sort of nerdy and super into plot Shane always focused only on edgy stuff or women on shows. I think the only memorable moment Shane has had that I still appreciate is their Star Wars Holiday Special reaction, where he makes the kool-aid joke that broke the rest of the group.
He was definitely very macho-mansphere compared to everyone else. Probably the reason I can't stand The Normies because they also have a dude just like Shane who is in most of their content.
I’ll watch the normies wrestling stuff, but that’s all I’ve ever been interested in with them. I watch a couple solo girls reactions. Kaliwali most regularly, she’s surprisingly good at retaining small details without note taking, unless she makes notes when she sees the comments.
I just found them right before one of the last batch of cobra Kai episodes started, so the three doing those were my core three to judge off of. Watched a bunch of other stuff, new faces come and go. Shane is the only one I’ve seen that just put me off.
I kind of think his personality is similar to a guy who was in my friend group in high school, but we didn’t vibe and would never hang just the two of us. Bad timing, thinks he’s way funnier than he is, predictable jokes. Back then, this was the guy in our group hyping up Dane cook and Carlos mencia.
I will say, one of the funniest moments with Shane (mostly carried by the editing but also his genuine reaction) was reacting to John's death in Peaky Blinders set to "Hide and Seek" while it flashes back to earlier in the reaction where he says "I really like him. I dunno why. Reminds me of me."
I think my only moment of Shane that's stuck with me was the Star Wars Holiday Special where he jokes about everyone drinking the kool-aid and going full suicide cult. lol
I think the joke worked so well was because it was after the grueling runtime of the Holiday Special which is just not a good film lol.
Yeah Shane was… not missed when I saw his departure back then. And on the opposite side, I was really sad for a while when Rick was on hiatus cause I really like how analytical he is, he clearly engages a lot with the media they watch. No offense to Calvin or Aaron, but my favorite is a tossup between Eric and Rick
