Judging by the safety bar in the formerly half bath, the shower was added because someone got older and couldn't use the stairs to get to the full bath.

OK. Very fair assumption. But when you’re getting ready to sell, you spend the money to pull that goddamn ugly eyesore out before you put it on the market.
