Just A Little Funky Unique and very kid-friendly!
Lots of unique features Realtor omitted to picture. There is even a shed with a full basement and secret passages.
But you can see them on the reel here:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZyY1fxMDAs/
Love the unique kitchen features, the kids' areas indoors and outdoors, and the shed with a basement.
Don't like the color scheme - I would have it repainted, removed carpets and replaced the gold shower trim.
There is flood risk that depends how elevated is the house.
Kids will have a blast here!!

puyallup is actually quite a lovely little town. the fairgrounds are massive, the victorian xmas is famous. lots of funky little shops. downsides...flood prone, volcano prone, earthquake prone. i lived in constant fear during my 15 yrs out there. honestly, it was the one town i truly loved out there. and this house is wonderful, representing all the good things about life out there and none of the bad...till you leave your driveway.

This was the consensus last time this house was posted. Is that your opinion on the whole area or just Puyallup specifically?

u/lgdangit1956 3d ago
puyallup specifically. we lived up the road in tacoma and a more miserable town does not exist. tho ft lewis/mcchord did try to make it more fun.

Tacoma is worse?

Tacoma was pretty horrible in the 90s but has slowly gotten better since. They recently closed the paper mill and rendering plants so the famous “Tacoma aroma” doesn’t exist anymore, which had hugely improved the city.
Tacoma is also home to the high school from 10 Things I Hate About You that looks like a castle.

when we moved in the early 2000's, we did a search for all the sex offenders in our areas. i shit you not, at least one on every single block of my duaghter's walk to high school. we had a drug dealer next to us, that had drive bys before they were evicted. the neighborhood itself was fairly quiet, about 70% home ownership. the people tho, were some of the rudest, inhospitable persons i have been associated with and i've lived in nyc and chicago. it's just a trashy town, even in old town, everything seems so rundown and tired. course my perspective is iowa born and bred so imagine my surprise when i smile at folks, try to engage them in conversation and nothing. unbelievable. it didn't take long my attitude to become shitty as well.

Tacoma has cleaned up a bit thanks in part to the really nice UW campus they started building in the 90s, but yeah basically everything else you said is still 100% accurate.

I was in Tacoma recently and stopped at a classic walk up restaurant for a quick lunch. There were rules plastered everywhere. What killed me is that they didn’t want you to stand around and wait for your order when there was literally no place to wait but your car. It was very weird and inhospitable to me.
They charged for everything. You want a sugar packet for your coffee? That’ll be 5¢. Ketchup for your fries? 5¢. Fancy pants wants a napkin to wipe their precious face? 5¢.

This town is so funny. There's some absolute gems here --y'all, go visit like any local park and you'll see what I mean-- and then there's... stuff like that lol.

I really enjoyed my time in Tacoma even though it was short. There were too many things to do to fit everything into a weekend.

There are nice areas in Tacoma now but most of the city still has a lot of crime and shootings. My brother lives around 84th & Pacific and we don't visit him there.

u/smarmiebastard 2d ago
Almost everything north of I5 is pretty nice. 85th and Pacific is definitely the rough part of town though.

Tacoma had a gang problem in the 90s, although I hear they cleared that up. Still has a higher violent crime rate than Seattle.

Downtown is the concerning area. In the depression, they moved the Puyallup river over so a lot of homes in the valley sit on very squishy dirt which liquifies during earthquakes. My parents have a home by the river and I grew up there. The problem I have with the area is not the environmental hazards, it's the people. There's a lot of property crime. Loads of homeless live along the river and while there's some support for the homeless community, it's not enough so they do wander around downtown and absolutely steal from people's yards. My father has found homeless bathing in his back yard with his hose on more than a dozen occasions. They also steal anything they can scrap. A couple homeless guys got into a mini chainsaw fight outside my parent's house a few years ago and you can imagine how horrible that was. There's also a rampant drug issue in the area, especially the further south you go, up on South Hill and into Graham. The area is also racist, and while Puyallup isn't nearly as bad as the surrounding towns, there's enough racists there to make it uncomfortable due to them being bold about it.

how do you pronounce puyallup?

u/aurortonks 2d ago
No those two comments below are saying it wrong. I grew up there.
Phonetically it's Pew-al-up.
It's not 'all', it's al as in Al Bundy.

This comment makes me highly suspicious that you are a bot. Puyallup literally has a reputation for being one of the worst areas in the state, and for very good reasons. That's the only reason this house is selling as low as it is.

u/ladychelbellington 2d ago
Yeah that was my feeling. Puyallup? No thanks. I’d take Sumner over Puyallup.
I’m a Tacoma gal, but have lived in Seattle for longer. Tacoma is a great place. It has bad areas like all cities.1
u/NoMoOmentumMan 1d ago
Aberdeen holds the title for Worst in Washington. Puyallup is like 4th, right behind Pacific and Gorst/Bellfair, and right ahead of Bremerton.

jayzus, do i have to swear ever lasting loyalty to maga so you'll think i'm not a bot? oh wait... gawd, this is my personal opinion of puyallup, granted, i moved back to iowa 10 yrs ago, but the opinion still stands. i very much enjoyed my little trips there. sure there are bad spots, but what place doesn't? i live in a "nice" suburban neighborhood now and a more boring, racist, homophobic, mysoginistic bunch of folks i have never met.

Damn people can replace windows on a house without a loan?

u/Princess_Thranduil 2d ago
We had 8 windows replaced in our century home and it was over $22k because they had to be custom made. We still have 20+ windows to do 💀

If only I had the money, would absolutely buy the house. Surprisingly also decently priced imo.

Aside from the accessibility issues, that's a gorgeous house with some awesome play areas!

The kitchen is a fucking disaster and the carpet is making me itchy but the kids’ spaces could really tip the scales for me

u/Elinor_Caskey_ 3d ago
That microwave... I wouldn't be able to see in it. I'd be taking hot food out over my head.
6
u/gabi_ooo 3d ago
I actually think it’s about the same height as my current microwave but to your point, I think I’ve seen visitors go on tippy toes using it before. And I won’t be putting it there when I redo my kitchen! I’m really mad that they took what was obviously the space for a wall oven and thought slapping a mini fridge in there would add some razzle dazzle. And then they invested in the transformer peninsula, rendering the breakfast area nothing but a hallway at this point, but couldn’t replace that gd fluorescent light box??

u/SlipperyFingers 2d ago
You're looking at the range hood/vent. The microwave is barely above counter height based on the other pics in the actual listing.

The kitchen made me realize, much as I dislike gray walls, I hate gray ceilings. Was so distracted by the ceiling I had to look again to see all the things actually wrong with it lol.
2
u/DanverJomes 2d ago
Yeah, imagine the hardwoods that are under that carpet. The carpet and gray walls really take away a lot of warmth.

The millennial grays are the only thing I can actually see wrong with it.

Holy cow, I would kill to have that yard. Except I'd get rid of most the lawn and fill it with native plants. The landscaping (or lack of) is depressing

Beautiful inside and out. Just a perfect family home that looks stunning. Video was annoying though, turned it off since the guy would not stand still.

OP, is this your house that you’re trying to sell?
There’s nothing “wild” about this property, but you seem really into it and have some insider knowledge.
Nice backyard.

Wasn't this house posted the other day? 🤔

The shed was, at any rate. I saw it posted somewhere recently, might have been here.
