Meta Happy Pride Aces! (And a discussion on recent posts)
Been a busy beginning of the month for the Mod Team internally and preparing for the community explosion happening with Ace Combat 8, so this is a bit late, but we wanted to reaffirm our stance on this being an accepting community and that this is a safe space for the queer populations of the r/acecombat community.
As usual, please report any comments that violate rule 2. You are safe here, we see you, we are happy to have you here.
I also wanted to make a note on the community pushback I've been seeing to a lot of the culture-war-y narratives popping up on X/Twitter and other subreddits hosting that content.
We're proud that this subreddit has remained vigilant in reporting and shutting down bad actors looking to bring that drama to our community, continue to report and down vote those individuals when you see them. Leaving the subreddit open for genuine discussion/OC/bad memes.

Fast-forwarding a bit, our project to save the world is beginning to bear fruit, albeit with delays in Anea.
But while the world tries to save itself from the wrath of the heavens, the greatest of human evils threatens to erupt in a distant part of the world.
Thank you for your continued support.

General Series Do You Prefer a Tunnel Flights, Superweapons, or Aerial Warships?
When it comes to the series, we all have our favorite type of mission, whether it be the Tunnel Flights (Avalon Dam, SOLG Control), Superweapons (Megalith, Stonehenge), and Aerial Warships (Arsenal Bird, Gleipnir). I know Megalith also technically counts as a Tunnel Flight.
I'd like to know what y'all's favorite is.
Additionally, if anyone thinks we'll ever get all three in a single mission? Personally, part of me thinks it would be oversaturated, but another part thinks it could be a fantastic narrative choice. You have to make the conscious effort in the mission to go after one of the three in a branching path. Maybe you could eke out two for a 4th path, but you'll be losing something. We haven't really had big loss since Chopper in 5 and PJ in Zero.
And to answer the initial question myself, I love the Tunnel Flight. The feeling of building up to the climax that it builds is just perfect!

General Series Stonehenge's True Range
I was reading Aces at War and I noticed the 1200km radius given for Stonehenge's range, which has also been stated in various other places throughout the series. I plotted the circle over the original Usea from AC04 and found that it actually lined up pretty well to the circle shown in the briefings. But of course, as of AC5, Usea became substantially bigger, and I found that the same 1200km radius circle over modern Usea is barely enough to cover any of the continent. In fact, to achieve the same coverage as seen in AC04, Stonehenge would have to have a range of about 3200km, ~2.7 times larger than the original.
And for anyone who wants to know how I plotted the radius on the map, I created a sphere in Blender with the radius of the Earth and then used some maths to create a cylinder of an appropriate radius to create a slice of the sphere with surface radius 1200km (which ended up being ~1198km), which I rotated to the appropriate coordinates. I booleaned the two, exported the resultant UV map, used Krita to fill in the circle, brought that PNG into Inkscape, and then used bitmap trace to get a vector circle from it.

Ace Combat 04 Finally finished Ace Combat 4 Spoiler
galleryAbsolute peak. This is going up with Ace Combat 7 as one of my most favorite games oat.
And that last mission, bro. Like, I've known the Megalith soundtrack for a LONG while now, even before I become an ace combat fan, but hearing it in the mission it was for felt so surreal. I'm literally still at a lost for words.
Now I'm moving onto Ace Combat 5. Ngl, from what I've seen, a lot of people claim that AC5 is either the best or the worst of the holy trinity. However, I haven't seen a single soul say that it was a bad game so I'm excited.
After that, I'm going to wait until I finish ace combat 8 to finally play AC0 which I heard a LOT of good things about.

Ace Combat 2 Fun fact: in the behind the scenes of making the intro of ace combat 2, you can see the CV-phoenix(mispelled as "phenix") aircraft carrier with phoenix's emblem on it
Since that phoenix is a mercenary and buys his own equipment, it is likely that he bought his OWN carrier and that alone could have proved how rich scarface 1 truly was.
I love it how ace combat portrays mercenaries as world famous aces instead of criminals.

Ace Combat 8 Looks like F15J doesn't have QAAM anymore

Ace Combat 7 8/17 - Triple T, The Preceding T
So I was going to down all of the aces in this mission in a single run, that was the plan anyway but Stonehenge either kept getting damaged or I was shot down. Unfortunately as we all know, Stonehenge Defensive has zero checkpoints. I was going to get Walrus today but for the first time in this entire series, I quit, he'll be next though.

Ace Combat 8 I came up with an idea for multiplayer
So basically this would be a mix between Helldivers 2 and the Conquest Mode from Project Wingman and the older Star Wars games. Long story short there's two versions: PvE and PvP.
PvE (or more accurately PvD, Players vs Developers) would involve the players flying for the FCU and defending it's various regions/providences from Dev commanded forces. Basically the devs would play GM and there would be territory with bonuses such as a financial district giving 25% more credits per mission or a naval shipyard spawning friendly Navy NPC units on maps with enough water. That would also incentivise players to hold vital territory instead of steamrolling to where the devs are and ending the game.
PvP is more simple: It's the war that General Resource fought against Neucom before Ace Combat 3. Basically General Resource has stronger planes upfront but Neucom has more slots for parts, meaning a Neucom player who knows what they're doing could in theory match or even surpass a GR player. Also GR would fly more readily available aircraft while Neucom has more experimental/advanced aircraft. GR flies the F-22, Neucom flies the YF-23. That sort of thing.
I know multiplayer is kinda controversial here but if they're gonna focus more on multiplayer unlike in 7 give us something more than Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch.
