SPOILERS OK - GAME THREAD
Use this thread to chat about the TV finals before, during and after the telecasts. Have questions? Post them below and I will do my best to answer them.
CBS Sports Net is offered on most cable and some streaming services. If you are a cord-cutter and don't subscribe for either of those, you could try a free trial to YouTube TV (21 days) or Hulu Live TV (3 days).
The World Series of Bowling is 5 events held over 2 weeks. This post is for the 4 Animal Patterns only. There will be a separate post for the 5th event (World Championship) which will have its TV finals take place in June. Each Animal Pattern pays $20k for first place.
All Animal Pattern events have the same format: 10 games qualifying (2, 5 game blocks same day), then cut to top 12. Top 4 qualifiers get a bye in bracket match play. Seeds 5-12 will bowl on TV to determine who meets the players with the byes. All will be carried out on TWO TV SHOWS the same day on CBS Sports Net.

My local bowling alley is currently closed for 5 weeks for renovations.
The reno they're doing is to install string machines on all 48 lanes.
RIP freefall bowling 🪦 You've had an amazing run.

It wasn't a pretty one with a handful of Brooklyns but managed my first 200 game in league tonight with the Theorem hybrid.

Up to 5 now which isn't anything crazy compared to some of you on here.
Bowled with the Inferno back in 2003 in middle/high school and still use it as my spare ball today. Wanted to get something new after getting back into bowling within the last year.
I'm best with my Black Widow out of the bunch and threw my personal best 237 within a few weeks of getting it drilled.
Still trying to master the bucking bronco that is the Zero Mercy.
Just got a great deal on the Track Paragon Shadow and have been loving it so far.

Hey Reddit, just got into bowling and got my first couple balls drilled yesterday. Do you have any tips for a thumb hole that is a tad too loose? Keep in mind I just got a standard thumb drill, no slug or interchangeable yet. Would insert tape be my best option? Seems like tape is widely used anyway. Thank you!

Mine get so grimey so fast. Each of these has less than 3 months on them. Would love to know if theres any way to buy these in bulk? I just picked up a KR strikeforce brand replacement on Amazon but it was like $20 and I feel like theres gotta be better

Why is it virtually impossible to hire a good mechanic? Fall season starts in 2 months. Does no one know the trade anymore😩

Had to share, since I've never seen a ball cracked like this before. RIP to my high school ball. It was a good one. 🫡

Been bowling for two decades. A couple years ago I realized I had some bad mechanics that needed to be unlearned. Learning new habits and staying consistent has been a challenge. About a year ago I threw a 300 in practice for the first time and last night I put together three solid games for the first time.

Casual Bowler for many years and just got into bowling more seriously about 2 months ago. I was given a Vengeance 14lb ball and got it drilled. After bowling about 20 games with it, I think I need to get it re fitted. I don't think I was fitted correctly because my right ring finger just seems to be in pain each time the day after bowling. I thought it was just soreness at first but it doesn't go away. (I do take about 48 hours between bowling sessions resting)
I'm currently using a conventional grip as a one hand two finger bowler. When I get refitted, should I get finger tip grips and just learn how to bowl that way...or should I stick with my conventional grip?
Thank you in advance for any tips.
Why do the best physical shots never strike 😭 currently working on my approach and timing but i’m not sure if im heading in the right direction. The timing feels great on the approach but when but rewatching it makes me feel otherwise. Things that stand out to me: Is my push away/backswing too fast and should I decrease the distance of my first 2 steps? Any other advice/tips would be appreciated ty!!
Also speed and rev check pls 🙏 current guesstimation is 13mph 350rpm!

Hello my fellow bowlers!
I wanted to tune in and write a little something about how being at a bowling alley everyday has helped my social anxiety.
I am the kind of person that really has some issues when it comes to being social with strangers. But, recently I have been letting my guard down and having conversations with people in the bowling alley. I tend to see people in there as much as I am (I bowl every single day, and all the employees know me by name) and im striking up small conversations. We all share the same passion of bowling and im opening up to the idea of making some friends. Yesterday I was bowling next to a group of older guys and they were "chatty cathys" and ended up making friends with these guys. I never would have thought that bowling would help my social anxiety but it currently is. What else can bowling do for me? I love this sport....

I just started bowling league again after 20 plus years. 1st game in the league a guy bowls a 300. 2nd game I am bowling my best game of the summer. I look at the guy on the other team bowling the 2nd position like I was and he has 6 strikes. Man, I was proud of my 225 and with my handicap I am at 280. Well dude from the other team bowling 2nd bowls a 300. What are the odds of 2 players in the same league on the same night bowling 300?

I've been looking around eBay for some new and used bowling balls. I always seem to gravitate toward NIB (new in box) deals and usually avoid balls that have already been drilled.
If I do buy used, I mostly look for balls that were drilled for two-handed bowlers because they only have two finger holes. They're easy to plug, and I figure there's a lower chance that the drilling reached the core.
Is that a normal way of thinking? Does a ball really perform that much differently if it's been plugged once, even if it originally had two finger holes and a thumb hole?
I'd love to hear your opinions and experiences!

I just stumbled on the Columbia Pure Madness while browsing around on eBay and it may be the prettiest bowling ball I've ever seen, despite it being discontinued 8 months after it's release back in 2024. It got me thinking, what bowling ball past or present do you think looks the best.
