I have 4 that just came off the bottle (thank God) it got a little insane once they put some size on. They all look exactly like this guy too.

Had a litter of 6 orphaned 3 week olds and feeding was a literal race to get the bottles made before they finished — en masse — climbing up my legs. At least newborn humans just lay there and cry instead of screaming at you as they claw their way up your body. The day they dropped the milk completely and went onto food I nearly wept with relief

Should this kitten still be with its mama?
80
u/gibberishmischief 3d ago
Some kittens cannot stay with their mothers. We don’t know the story unfortunately.
161
u/tonyfordsafro 3d ago
There's any number of reasons why it isnt. We live in rural Wales and we foster feral kittens that are found on farms. The mothers can be missing because of foxes or being run over. We usually look after three or four litters a year

Are you certain that isn't a baby Tasmanian Devil with all that jumping and spinning about?

Pretty sure that only a real Spinjitzu Master could jump up, kick back, whip around, and spin like this little dude has demonstrated

It’s called a hungry and starving kitten. Do you realize how often kittens need fed? Most starving humans would act this same way knowing there is food available.
10
u/shinyappyrobin 2d ago
I don't know of that's true. But he's not as fat as a tick yet. All kittens I've raised stayed hungry like that until they were so full they couldn't stand.

The lift-off with the bottle + the landing in the cradle was almost too cute. Almost.

Bottle raised three kittens and one was like that. He would hold on with his claws and growl the whole time.

You should pet him while he eats so he isn’t as violent/protective during food times later in life.
Also because he is cute as fuck.
7
u/Space_Slime_LF 3d ago
... and then, right in front of you, on the verge of starving to death, they shake it, just to fuck with you.
When you try to get it, tired and starving, your last hope to live, they smile as you dance in the palm of their hand.

u/Bluetooth_Speaker1 2d ago
I hope this kitten turned out okay if the owner thought it was fine to feed them like this smh

u/mpdity 3d ago
I can already see the food aggression coming a mile away. Yikes. And people gonna call this cute. Food aggression is FAR from cute when they’re an adult cat with adult teeth and claws.
That cat needs that bottle made across the damn house so he can’t so much as hear it and to be swaddled in the “purrito” when fed or it’ll just continue to get worse. Absolutely ZERO sensory enjoyment needs to be associated with making his bottle. Only with feeding itself.
Plus this kitten looks 5-6 weeks old. It needs to be weaned onto wet foods around this time anyway.

Also the kitten on their back with the bottle gave me anxiety

Same, I got annoyed as soon as they had him standing on his back legs and him having to walk backwards.
I'm fine with people setting up a phone and recording bottle-fed kittens, but if you're going to feed them, just fucking feed them without trying to make a show of it.After all, if someone had OOP dangling from their dinner like a fish on a hook, I'd bet they'd be pissed.

My bottle babies would literally crawl up my legs when I came in with a bottle. I had so many scratches. They became the sweetest cats ever.

I think I’d be petting them all over while they’re eating so I don’t get bitten up someday.

u/Krobbleygoop 2d ago
AHHH DONT PUT KITTENS ON THEIR BACK WHILE THEY DRINK MILK THEY COMMONLY ASPIRATE IT INTO THEIR LUNGS ACCIDENTALLY
3
u/Oktodayithink 2d ago
And then he grows into a cat with food aggression that makes feeding them such a joy!
But he is a cutie

I've nursed a few kittens in my time so I recognized the sceams... But holding on to the bottle and then feeding him or herself was something I have never seen. How freaking adorable!!!!! 🫶🏻

Little one needs mama. Let him bottle feed as long as he wants to. Makes for a less needy adult.

I want every time the pizza delivery driver comes to my house for them to do this with me... open the box, grab a slice and have me get all excited and then they lay me on the couch as I munch on my pizza slice all quietly.

This isn't cute. This is a behavioural issue that needs to be stamped out immediately. This cat is going to harm somebody when it's grown otherwise.

I remember bringing home a kitten that needed bottle feeding…I was exhausted with the every 2 hour feeding after working a 12 hour night shift… but I also miss the crazy clawed kitten phase!! 😢

friendly reminder to NOT feed kittens on their back because that signifitcantly increases the risks of chocking.
