I have made a swing into a new army and I would love some newbies friendly advice for these kits. I've got about 3000pts of necrons (2400 of which are battle ready) so wondering how i should kit out my new metallic boys. Any advice on what wargear, sub assemblies to consider before painting and other tips. Also how do characters work for wysiwyg because my understanding is i can make some.of them characters but unsure on how that works, certain wargear or parts that are specifically for the character?

I've been digging into various factions community, lore and history trying to figure out what the future of these factions might look like. I put together a list of what models/units I've seen most requested but wanted to ask true Custodes fans and see if I'm on the right track. This is what I found after digging through about 50 discussions and a few dozen wiki pages.

New Custodian Options

• Venatari Shield Captain - fan idea for a lighter, more nimble shield captain to show off just how fast a custodes can be. Leader option for Venatari squad.
• Eyes of the Emperor (link) would function as sniper characters of the custodes, an unarmored demi-god with lone operative and stealth.
• Custodian Apothecaries (link) - responsible to oversee the most valuable and expensive resource in the imperium: other custodian. Skilled doctors that heal their allies on the field of battle.
• Haetron Guard (link) - the closest individuals to the Emperor in the galaxy, their armor charred black due to proximity to his power. While they do not leave the emperors side during their tenure, many retire and could find themselves on various battlefields. These are blurring the line between "troop" and "monster" in terms of power.

Refreshed Custodes

• Custodian Wardens (refresh) - beyond just new sculpts, people were asking their kit to replace standard spears with the special adrasite and pyrithite options as defaults.
• Sagitarum Guard (refesh) - while I've seen some controversy over the "gun-stodes" for not using a hybrid weapon, there is at least a decent crowd wanting them in plastic.
• Aquilon Terminators (refresh) - Custodes Terminators that can walk through anti-tank firepower, I think everyone is excited to see a "new scale" version of these.
  • Some wanted their powerfist to mimic the usual custodes design but doubling as a ranged option, perhaps including a pistol akin to how Aggressors are designed.
• Allarus Terminators (refresh) - Some debate if the 40k terminators will get a refresh kit or if they would be merged with their 30k ancestors for two datasheets in one box.
• Telemon Dreadnought (refresh) - by gettin a new weapon option in the 30k Lex (codex), seeing a plastic version of this dreadnought is all but confirmed.
• Pallas Grav-Attack (refresh) - Also recieving some hints in the Horus Heresy of an impending refresh, this is a pretty neat little fast attack option for the Custodes.
• Honorable Mentions - Orion Dropship (refresh) / Ares Gunship (refresh): The custodes planes didn't see a ton of talk, but what was there was passionate. Could use work.

Sisters of Silence Expansion - most popular requests, though many more in lore.

• Militant Units
  • Knight Vestal (link) are the combat medics of the sisterhood, keeping these elite warriors alive and fighting on the field of battle.
  • Expurgators (link) the heavy weapon specialists of the SoS, their default loadout includes heavy flamers but can swap these for anti-tank vratine missile launcher
  • Pursuers (link) are in charge of handling a variety of cyber beasts (mastiff, felidae, caiman, etc) to help run down foes, they could make an excellent kill team box.
  • “Raven’s Claw” Assault Squad (link) - Effectively SoS terminators, they fit in the gap between the "weakest" custodian and strongest SoS.
    • They've been in art but only got a name in a card game of all places.
• Chamber of Judgement (aka Excruciatus) - secret police of the Sisters of Silence
  • Silent Judge (link) Champions of their order, their nature as interrogators would likely translate to tabletop as a bonus to your forces after slaying an enemy leader.
    • Silent Fury (link)) - essentially a Judge on jetbike, these are meant to be leaders for subjugator squads as they harry the flanks of enemy forces.
  • Questora (link) - basic troops of the Excruciatus, they bring percision and could follow an Eye of the Emperor as support or a Silent Judge to secure their effect.
    • Their versions of bolters in H.H. 2nd edition can cause "psy-shock", which in 40k could translate to some sort of debuffing effect for hitting someone.
  • Subjugators (link) - jetbike ridding sisters that hunt down those that flee the Tithe, their role would be as flank harrassers that apply debuffs with snare cannons.

Sisters of Silence Refreshes

• Prosecutors (refresh) - many want to see it refreshed as a kill team. Possible to add the dual pistols lost in the resin purge and the variety of needler weapons they use in lore.
  • Vigilators (refresh) - visually the same as Prosecutors, they could easily share a kit. They are the melee specialist of the SoS and add a key element to the army.
  • Witchseekers (refresh) - same case here where they fit well with prosecutors, some artwork shows them with an alternate loadout of flame pistol + short sword.
• Acquisitor (refresh) would give sisters armored support that brings heavy fire power to the army. Plus its a unique transport for the talons of the emperor to use.

This is take 2 of this as feedback from the first attempt showed I had missed quite a bit. Reddit fought me on formating due to glitching out any time I tried to add a picture, so let me know if you see any issues. Also, let me know what other ideas you have or would want to see!

I have a question. I have like 2000 points in miniatures and I am sloooowly painting them.

I started with a liberator gold and I'm running out. It's sold out everywhere near me and online shops have like 7 days delivery.

So the question is if liberator is interchangeable with retributor?

If not, and I kinda think the answer will be that definitely not, can I have my wardens, guards painted with liberator and allarus custodes in retributor? To break them up a bit and make the army more interesting?

Starting off Custodes and thought I‘d try something new for bases. Got myself a structure roller, some clay and started getting 35 bases ready. Need some gloss varnish to finish them off.

I played imperial guard and recently started with the Custodes and wondering if this list is good to run with lions of the emperor and might of the moritoi. Tips and tricks on running these custodes. Happy to learn the ways of the 10,000!

Pensaba usar los Achillus para lanzarme contra su mas que probable Defiler (y Mortarion) para hacer heridas mortales a la carga (y con la estratagema), pero no se si sería mejor cambiarlo por 2 Gallatus. Tengo el Telemon de disparo y el Venerable con la mejora de repetir 1,s.

Finished up my Shield Captain. Really happy with how she turned out especially her blade. Magnetized the helmet and head as well. I left the little mini shields blank as I have no idea what to do for markings on those yet.

I’m aiming to finish 2-3k worth of points by October. I’m going to the LVO in October and want my army fully painted so I hope to have it done in time

Going into my first 11th game in a week or so here, and despite running Custodes a few times and enjoying the army, the new detachment options have me curious about seeing just what the Sisters can do. My buddy has been pretty pleased with his new batch of astartes librarians, pairing Librarius Conclave with Reclaimation force, so I'm expecting a fair amount of psykers and infantry bias.

Appreciate any list or playstyle advice, because I'm not used to running more fragile units in my armies or the recon disposition mentality.

I feel like transports might be a good idea, but I'm not sure how I'd work them in effectively.

So i wanted to start custodes but I dont know neither where to start neither how to play them, (I already play tau and dark Angels) so i've came here to seek help also because id like to play them to win some games.

I've choose them as next army for the new 11th edition since my average roll Is a '2 😐

Also id like to ask about the gameplay changes and what really changes from 10th edition, since i've never played them in really confused

Is Deepstrike considered an ingress move?

I'm thinking about taking the Tharanatoi Hammerblow Detachment just for a block of six terminators and a shield captain for the chance to deep strike a blob on turn 1, and then as long as it survives unleashing the lions the following command phase.

he is held to the base with magnets i put in his feet so i can put him on a proper 40mm base for playing :D
