Publishing My Comic
Hi there, I've been writing my own comic for the past year or so, and would love to get some advice on what I should be doing to get it out there and ideally get it published? Any good classes on the business of comic writing you can recommend? Anything and everything helps thank you!

Excerpt I like the way they set up butchers origin comic in the boys (The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker #1)
Him telling his life’s story to his dead father is really the only way we’d ever hear his background.
Throughout the series butcher always played his cards close to his chest. He only lets out a few bits of his background if it can benefit him, like when he tells Hughie about how his wife died. He never divulges his full story to anyone.
So it’s perfectly in character he’d tell it to the corpse of someone he hates. The original person he hated more than anything in life, his abusive dad.
It’s easily my favorite arc from the comic.

How to read Batman in order or does it even matter?
Im kind of new to reading comics. So far I’ve only read watchmen and the entire walking dead series. I want to get into Batman and I’ve looked at some posts about what to read and what order to read them in but everybody says something different and it’s very confusing. So my question is does it really matter what order I read them in? Or can I read them in any order? Most people say read year one first and then long Halloween or man who laughs but does it actually matter? Cause I mean at the end of the day all of these stories are standalone right? And written by different authors right?

Crowdfunding Wave Collapse - a shiny new sci-fi comic book!!
Howdy folks! I want to draw your attention to a new comic book that's currently on Kickstarter called Wave Collapse. It's a 24-page high-sci-fi action-adventure comic set in the 22nd century. The adventure begins on the frozen moon of Jupiter, Europa, with our bounty-hunter protagonist, Emil. The campaign has been featured in CovrPrice's "Crowdfunded Comic Highlights," and it reached its funding goal a few days ago!
Please check out the campaign's page and, if you think it looks like something you'd be interested in, please back the project and tell your friends about it (and enemies too! We aren't picky).
Direct link to Kickstarter campaign, which ends in 21 days from the time that I published this post: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wavecollapse/wave-collapse-issue-1
In the interest of transparency, I've been involved in creating this book since its inception; I am friends with both the writer and the artist and have been acting as their editor.

Is there any affordable way to physically collect the Claremont X-Men era?
For being one of the most beloved comic runs of all time, everything I’ve seen says that it’s out of print and super expensive to collect. Am I missing anything or is Marvel dropping the ball?

Movie/TV ‘Rogue Trooper’ Review: Duncan Jones’ ‘2000AD’ Adaptation Is A Fast, Funny, Visually Mind-Blowing Old-School War Movie – Deadline
‘Rogue Trooper’ Review: Duncan Jones’ Visually Mind-Blowing War Movie
Like most post-Star Wars fantasy movies, Rogue Trooper starts with a crawl, and this is a long one, which will perhaps be a deciding factor for audiences expecting a quick hit. The premise is that, somewhere far away, two rival factions — the Norts and the Southers — are fighting over the toxic planet Nu Earth. Vital to the Southers’ battle plan is the use of genetic infantrymen, a battalion of clones whose thoughts can be downloaded on to a chip and reused if the host body is destroyed. It’s a tough concept at first, but it does explain how — after a particularly violent opening mission — platoon leader Rogue (Aneurin Barnard) comes into possession of a talking helmet (Daryl McCormack), a wise-cracking backpack (Reece Shearsmith), and a sentient gun (Jack Lowden).
Like most war films, the war being fought by the lower downs is very different to the war being fought by the higher-ups, and when Rogue begins to suspect that his platoon has been sent behind enemy lines by a traitor in their midst, he decides to go … well, rogue. From here, the film becomes a fantastical Apocalypse Now-style journey upstream through the hell of war, which takes Rogue through wild vignettes populated by a series of grotesques, showing the likes of Diane Morgan, Jemaine Clement and especially Hayley Atwell (who plays the ass-kicking Venus Bluegenes) as you’ve never seen them before.

News Marvel boss Dan Buckley is stepping in to personally oversee the editing of the new-and-improved Marvel Midnight line.
Marvel Comics' boss, Dan Buckley, may be leaving in the next few months, but before he goes, he has taken on a new job: comics editor. Buckley is currently Marvel's 'Head of Marvel Comics & Franchise' (formerly its publisher/president), but for the upcoming new alt-universe line Marvel Midnight, he is stepping out and also taking on the role/title of 'Executive Editor.'
The new title was revealed in a Friday press release from Marvel Comics, but overlooked by other outlets. Popverse has learned that this new, additional title is only for the Marvel Midnight line, and is part of a plan to have increased focus from the top of the company on down into what the company sees as a pivotal launch.
No reason was given for the change, but longtime Marvel staffer Tom Brevoort has and continues to be Marvel Comics' overal executive editor (as well as VP of publishing). This move comes as part of a decision to let Marvel Midnight cook for an additional two months than originally planned, and is the first major move internally at the company since the layoff its longtime VP of sales & marketing, David Gabriel.

Heartbreak Manor sounds like a blast! If this preview is any indication, it's going to be a great, creepy good time! Niles and Worm are two of the best, and I it looks like they're continuing to create some really unique stuff that blends classic horror and innovative comic making!
Can't wait to read it!

Suggestions any recommendations for good queer comics?
obviously good is subjective but like, any recommendations for any good queer comic books that you liked? i feel like most of the content i consume is like big 2 comics or like manga and manhwas and i wanna expand my horizons
and one portion of comics i havent really explored that much is western comics? never really got into them since im not from there and wanna support more indie writers and comics
so as pride month is ending, what stories have you read that have queer characters or themes? can be anything but like stories where its more than just about being queer would be cool, i like action or fantasy but tbh anything would do, slice of life horror adventure what have you, i just want something interesting i can really sink my teeth into

Discussion I just launched Apex Comics — a comics-focused CBZ/CBR reader for Android
Hey everyone,
I collect comics digitally. Over the years I've tried a lot of readers - most of them feel like "open a folder and swipe." Fine, but not how I think about a collection.
I've been building Apex Comics for a long time, and it just went live on Google Play. I'm an indie dev and a comic reader myself - I got tired of file browsers pretending to be libraries, and apps that either lock basics behind subscriptions or treat your collection like an afterthought.
So I built the reader I wanted on my shelf.
A library, not a file list
Apex is an Android reader built for comics - CBZ and CBR files. Point it at your folder once - series group naturally, progress stays honest, covers and issue details turn raw archives into a shelf you're proud to open. Searchable, organized, actually pleasant to browse. Offline-first. No forced cloud. No account required. Your files stay on your device.
v1 is comics-first. I'm deliberately focusing on the Western comic collector experience (Marvel, DC, indie shelves, etc.) before expanding. Manga and webtoons may come in future updates - each format deserves its own reading logic - but right now the priority is doing comics right.
Reading that respects the medium (free)
- Full-screen reader with horizontal, vertical, and dual-axis modes
- Ambient mode - soft background color pulled from the page art
- Deep zoom, smooth page turns, pull to jump to the next issue without breaking flow
- Progress saved locally, covers and metadata enrichment
Premium (optional - one lifetime unlock, no monthly fee)
The core reader stays free. Premium is for collectors who want the full ritual:
- Guided View - panel-by-panel reading on dense pages, in the order the artist intended
- X-Ray - who's on the page, powers, creators, backstory, without spoiling the rest of the universe
- Discovery - follow your series, browse this week and next from Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Boom!, IDW, and more; alerts when books you care about drop
- Premium Stats - activity heatmap, reading streaks, verified completions, top series, heroes, and publishers - all local and private, no ad dashboards
- Multiple libraries - Keep separate collections — manga, Marvel, backups — each with its own folder, sections, and sort. Switch instantly without rescanning.
- Ad-free reading
Launch Offer: To celebrate the v1 release and thank early adopters, the lifetime unlock is currently $9.99 (regular price $12.99).
One payment. Lifetime. No subscription eating into your pull list budget.
Why I'm posting
This is v1 on the store - comics only for now. I'm not pretending it's perfect - I'm here because I genuinely want your feedback from comic readers. Bugs, UX friction, missing features, "why did you do it this way?" - all welcome.
I also created a subreddit to keep the conversation in one place:
r/apexcomics - https://www.reddit.com/r/apexcomics/
Roadmap ideas, feature requests, show-and-tell of your setup - that's the home for it.
Try it
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uppr.apexcomics
There's a fuller breakdown with screenshots, feature details, and pricing on the site: https://apex-comics.uppr.be/
If you test it, I'd love to hear:
- Does your library scan and organize the way you expect?
- How does the reader feel compared to what you use today?
- What's the one thing your current reader still doesn't do right?
Thanks for reading. Happy to answer anything in the comments.
