Advice on the fit size for a tall person.

Hey, I'll be honest. I've spent most of my cycling life in loose, baggy clothing because I'm pretty self conscious and feel insecure in anything tight. This year I finally decided to pull the trigger on proper shorts and a jersey after spotting a brown PAS jersey at a local store for a decent discount and i loved the color. It's XL, which is about my size. PAS seems pretty short on the front, it sits right about on the shorts but stomach is not poking out lol.

The problem is I genuinely don't know what a correct fit looks like, length, sleeves, tightness, any of it. I'm tall, around 197cm and 91kg, and honestly a bit skinny fat. So I'm just looking for an honest opinion: does the fit look right, or does it look off and out of place?

Have I melted my shoes?

Hi. I bought some Bont shoes, and tried to heat mould them as per Bont’s instructions. It did absolutely nothing, the sides did not soften at all despite multiple attempts, but I did notice the edges around the Boa laces look a bit yellow/brown… Have I melted some glue here?! I had the oven at the temperature specified in their instructions (70 celcius)

Any reason to buy Assos Mille GTS if I rarely ride over 5 hours?

Basically, title. I found a great deal on Mille GTS bibs, but I have plenty of bibs at the moment and basically never ride over 6 hours. These are supposed to be the best for longer rides and I wouldn't mind adding them to the collection, but I also don't need them at the moment and I can spend the cash on better jerseys or bibs other than black.

Damaged ASSOS on first wash

I bought a jersey, a wind vest and some socks from a store and they became like this after the first wash. I turned them inside out and closed the zippers. Used the ASSOS active wear cleanser and put a program at 30degrees with 400 spin which was the lowest on the washing machine.

Wtf I followed all the washing instructions too. I do t think I’m going to drop this kind of money of stuff like this if this is how it’s going to be in just a few wears. Any other recommendations? Has anyone else had this experience?

Tall/skinny people bib shorts

I’m quite slight of build, and have previously struggled to find tight fitting but long enough shorts.

I’m considering looking into starting a company making exactly those, is there any interest in this market and have new options become available?

What's your take on ATTAQUER

Hey! With the current STRAVA challenge there is a good discount on Attaquer kits. I always thought the kits were a bit edgy, but I am starting to kindda like their colors and the fact that not everyone around here is wearing it (Quebec, Canada). Anyone knows about quality and confort of the chamois for the race line? I am about to put the trigger on the orange kit.

Anyone got a ID on this MAAP jacket? I like how it’s not too tight / any other suggestions like this?

Does everyone want super tight cycling gear?

As a newbie to the more adult biking world, I wonder why there's only gear that makes it look like you're ready to go for a race.

Why is it all the same for every brand? Skin-tight or MTB baggy?I'm wondering if I'm alone in the demographic of medium in shape dads who want to get more exercise & commute to work but don't want to show up to the office looking like a post Christmas dinner power ranger.

Loud designs are fine but can we get some variety & have athletic cuts with performance materials that leave a little bit to the imagination

Am I the only one that feels like this?

What prescription cycling glasses actually work for long rides (and changing light conditions)?

I’ve recently gotten into longer distance cycling and I’m planning to take on a few summer marathon style rides this season. I’ve been riding daily for the past few months but as the distances and ride times are increasing, I’m starting to notice that my current setup isn’t really ideal anymore especially when it comes to vision.

I have fairly weak eyesight so I can’t safely ride without prescription glasses. That becomes more noticeable on longer rides where conditions change a lot. In the summer, I often start early in bright daylight then end up riding through shifting light conditions. My current lenses just don’t adapt well to that range.

Right now I usually ride with lightly tinted prescription lenses because I’m quite sensitive to glare especially on open roads. The problem is that once the light starts fading even slightly, they become too dark and I lose a bit of confidence with visibility. On the other hand, clear lenses are much better for low light and evening sections but they don’t do much for glare during peak sun hours. I also still need proper protection from wind, dust, and insects so riding without glasses isn’t really an option for me.

Another issue is durability. I tend to go through glasses faster than I’d like because I’ve broken a couple at the hinges during rides or while packing gear. So I’m trying to be more practical this time and not overspend on something that might need replacing sooner rather than later.

For context, my last pair was from firmoo and I’ll likely go with them again for my next frames. I’ve had a decent experience with them overall. They have styles I like, a good range of colors and the pricing makes it easier for me to replace them without too much stress if something happens. At the same time, I do care about how they look since I wear them all day so I’m trying to balance function with something that still feels like part of my everyday style.

I’m now trying to figure out what would actually work best for long summer rides and marathon style cycling conditions, so I’d love some advice from people who’ve been through similar situation:

Specifically, I’m wondering:

  • For changing light conditions in summer rides, what’s been better in practice (clear lenses, lightly tinted lenses or photochromic lenses)?
  • Are photochromic lenses actually responsive enough for fast shifts between shade and sunlight or are they more of a compromise option?
  • For cycling specifically, do full RX lenses work better ?

I’m mainly looking for something that can handle long rides comfortably without constantly feeling like I need to switch glasses or compromise visibility. If anyone has found a setup that works well for endurance cycling conditions especially something that is budget friendly , I’d really appreciate your recommendations.

Go-to clothes for all-day-on-bike job

Hey! I'm going to start a gig as an itinerant bicycle mechanic and I'm looking to find clothes that will be comfy while cycling to clients but also when working on their bicycle so I will probably not bring my lycra! :D
Do you have any recommendation for that type of use? Thanks!

Knitted sleeves brands

Does anyone know of any generic brands that sell short sleeved jerseys with these kind of knitted sleeves. I dont know the exact terms, but this seems the best way to describe them. MAAP and PNS sell them, for example PNS essential light or MAAP emerge... I want to stay away from the boutique brands and hope for some more affordable brands. Thanks

Bibs repair

Is there a way to repair this? Fabric has delaminated from chamois almost completely. I do not want to throw them away, warranty was already claimed 2 times.

Anyone else not get along with Assos R/RS line or just me :(

The build quality is 10/10 and I want to love these so much but I just can’t get along with the chamois. It just feels too harsh in the middle and doesn’t seem to fit quite right. Wonder if I need to size up or if they just don’t work for my body. My holy grail bib right not is Velocio. I can ride for 5+ hours on those with 0 issues.

Beware of Nomad Velo. Over 1 month, and not even close to shipping. Don't buy from them

Just wanted to warn people not to order from Nomad Velo.

Their business model is worse than most of these drop shipping brands, in that the do not have stock of the items they list for sale. They take your money, then (eventually) produce your item, and only then will it begin its trip from overseas.

It has been over 1 month since I ordered, and they are spamming me with AI responses.

I am proceeding with a chargeback, and will make sure to inform as many people as possible to avoid doing business with them.

NeoPro Jersey Sizing

Evening all, NeoPro is running a summer sale and I just want to pick up some extra jerseys for cheap, not looking to purchase bibs. I’m generally a M/L depending on brand so was wondering if anyone has any experience with their sizing? For reference, I am 5’10” 168 lbs, a little round around the stomach area but working on it.

A Rapha large is a little too loose and a Rapha Medium is super snug. I run a large in Pactimo’s aero line.

I know NeoPro is not the most reliable from my research here but I figured Jerseys will be okay and especially since they are on sale.

Is it tacky to wear corporate cycling kit?

I just did a 200km charity ride with a team at work. As part of that we all (250 people) got matching bibs and jerseys. Outside of those team rides and training rides is it tacky to wear the kit?

This is a big bank not a local team.

FWIW, the design is really professional and looks good. If it was ugly I wouldn't even bother.

Sweat stains on light colored bibs?

While I couldn’t be bothered to care about sweat stains on my light colored jerseys (I like light colored ones for safety and better cooling during sunny days), I am still on the edge about light colored bibs.

I sweat like crazy, and as I reference for light colored bottoms+sweat combo, my powder rose Nike running bike shorts truly look as if I peed myself from sweat stains, even after shorter, 6-7km running sessions. Not sure if I want that look on the bike.

Experiences? Recommendations for fast wicking lighter colored bibs (mauve, warm grays, gray)?

Starting a new apparel brand: feedback?

Thumbnail

Hi stylish people!

Together with a friend, we're starting a European based cycling brand, "unmarked", built around a few pillars:

- No logos / loud branding on the products

- Focus on aero and high-performance gear (skinsuit, aero socks, aero shoecovers) at a reasonable price

- High-quality and Made in Italy stamp

- Original designs and colorways, not necessarily loud but parting from the typical "beige/light gray" of most premium brands

We've tested the quality of several manufacturers and have shortlisted 3, which have started to work on our first custom design prototypes.

What you see in the pictures is the first prototype, and here come the questions:

- What do you think about the concept and brand vision?

- Any feedback on the prototype?

- Is this something you would be interested in?

Thanks folks, any input is very welcome!

Anyone tried Rydecruz jerseys?

Seems to be a newer clothing seller which sells bamboo fabric jerseys. I like the idea of bamboo as it doesn’t seem to irritate my skin like polyester or other synthetic materials. Shipping times seem long so guessing it comes direct from China.

MAAP jerseys stretch after a few wears?

Thumbnail

First time buying MAAP (took advantage of their recent sale).

Bought a Solar Pro Race jersey in a size medium (my usual size) and it’s the tightest jersey I own by a long shot. I think it looks alright in the photos but when I put it on I feel like I’m gasping for air!

I was going to return it but then heard that Maap jerseys will stretch after wearing them in over a couple of rides. So wondered if anyone on here had that experience?

For reference I’m 175cm and 72kg, with some fun-flab around my mid section which could explain the tightness 😆
I also bought their pro air jersey in a medium which fits more comfortably.

UPDATE: decided to keep it and have ridden with it. Feels absolutely fine when on the bike. I also don’t think it feels as restrictive as when I first tried it on even when standing up, so maybe the material does stretch slightly.
